Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle Chapter 1259: The Rankers
Previously on Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle...
Shane stared at the ranking for several seconds.
He had expected Tundra to be somewhere near the top since he was aware of just how many explosives he had made...
However, as Shane continued reading through the list, his expression slowly changed.
[ Global Contribution Ranking: ]
[ Rank 1: Tundra ]
[ Rank 2: Asad ]
...
[ Rank 7: Raze ]
...
[ Rank 9: Elsa ]
[ Rank 10: Reylin ]
Shane blinked... "Wait a minute..."
He finally realized something that he had initially overlooked.
Five members of his clan had made it into the Top 10.
Tundra was Rank 1, Asad was Rank 2, Raze was Rank 7, Elsa was Rank 9, and finally...
Reylin was Rank 10!
Shane’s expression became increasingly strange.
Tundra had his Terrorist Talent, which allowed him to create various types of bombs from almost anything he touched. During an invasion that had lasted for three days, it was easy to imagine how much damage he could cause when surrounded by thousands of enemies.
Asad was also understandable.
His Necromancer Talent was practically designed for a war like this. Every battlefield filled with corpses was an opportunity for Asad to expand his undead army, and the longer the invasion continued, the more powerful his forces could become.
Raze was a Dragon Knight with Roan by his side.
There was no need to explain how effective the two of them could be during a massive invasion.
Elsa was also a powerful Water Elementalist. If she had been defending a shelter with access to a large amount of water... like the Blue Haven Shelter, she could easily have turned the battlefield into her own domain.
But Reylin?
Shane stared at her name.
He genuinely couldn’t understand it.
Reylin’s Talent was a production-class Talent.
She wasn’t a combat-type Survivor. She wasn’t someone who could charge into a battlefield and slaughter hundreds of Demons by herself.
Yet somehow, she had managed to reach Rank 10 in the entire world.
Shane couldn’t help but wonder what exactly she had done.
"How did she even get that many Contribution Points?"
Shane muttered to himself.
He was tempted to ask her directly, but then he realized that there was a much easier way.
The Clan Chat.
Shane immediately opened the Clan interface.
The familiar chat window appeared before his eyes, and he immediately noticed that many of his clan members were already online.
Considering that the Abyssal Invasion had just ended, this wasn’t surprising.
Everyone had just survived a three-day global disaster, and the sudden appearance of the Contribution Rankings had given them another reason to gather in the Guild Chat.
The conversation was already moving quickly.
[ Max: Did everyone see the rankings?! ]
[ Minerva: Of course we did. It’s impossible to miss something like that. ]
[ Tieria: Five members of our clan are in the Top 10. ]
[ Jillian: Five?! ]
[ Tessa: I counted them twice just to make sure. ]
There was a brief pause as they all confirmed the rankings.
Then—
[ Max: Wait. Look at the ranking again. ]
[ Max: Isn’t that REYLIN?! ]
[ Reylin: What? Are you that shocked? Hehehe... ]
[ Tessa: How did you get Rank 10? ]
[ Reylin: I don’t know. Though I have a few guesses since I didn’t do much in the first place. ]
[ Max: That’s not an answer! ]
[ Reylin: Well... It’s not like the System gave a detailed breakdown of our Contribution Points. ]
[ Minerva: It’s definitely not related to getting last hit on Demons. I’m sure you know how you got into the Top 10 of the Global Contribution Ranking. Maybe your weapons? ]
[ Reylin: I’m guessing that too. I just don’t know why you’re all so surprised. ]
But deep inside, she was already thinking that it was because of the 7 Hidden Quests she completed. Despite not killing a single Demon, it might be a great addition to her Contribution Points.
Shane couldn’t help but smile when he saw their conversation.
Apparently, he wasn’t the only one who had been confused by Reylin’s ranking.
He decided to join the conversation.
[ Shane: Wow... Guys, just what did you all do to get that high in the ranking? I killed a few Demon Generals but didn’t even make it into the Top 10. Though I got a lot of loot... Being in the top must feel great. ]
The chat immediately went quiet.
A few seconds later, the messages started appearing one after another.
[ Max: Boss. You’re always at the top. Leave those rewards to others. ]
[ Max: Hehe... Anyway, did you just say you killed a few Demon Generals? ]
[ Tieria: How many is "a few"? ]
[ Jillian: Shane, don’t casually say something like that. ]
[ Shane: A total of eight... ]
The Guild Chat went silent again.
This time, the silence lasted a little longer.
[ Max: ... ]
[ Minerva: ... ]
[ Tessa: ... ]
[ Lyra: Eight? ]
[ Shane: Yes. ]
[ Sandara: You killed eight Demon Generals? ]
[ Shane: Yes. They always escape when they feel threatened. It’s really hard to kill them. ]
[ Max: If that’s the case. I guess that they don’t give a lot of points compared to completing Hidden Quests and other stuff.
Shane frowned slightly.
He had assumed that the contribution he gained from killing them would be enormous.
Yet he hadn’t even entered the Top 10.
That meant the others must have done something extraordinary.
[ Raze: Oh? You didn’t complete any Hidden Quest? There are many Hidden Quests. ]
[ Raze: The Abyssal Invasion has a different system. You have to trigger them first. ]
[ Shane: Explain. ]
[ Raze: During the Zombie Apocalypse, Hidden Quests were completed without the Survivors knowing about them. The System only told you about them after the event ended.]
[ Raze: This time, it’s different. You have to do something specific to trigger the Hidden Quest. Once you fulfill the conditions, the quest appears.]
Shane’s eyes narrowed slightly.
They were hidden not because the System refused to tell them that they existed, but because nobody knew what actions would trigger them in the first place.
It was like stumbling upon a secret mission.
You could spend the entire event fighting Demons without ever encountering one.
Or you could accidentally perform a specific action, trigger a Hidden Quest, and suddenly receive a new objective.
[ Raze: I got my first when we were fighting a group of mutated Abyssal Beasts. Roan killed most of them, but one of them escaped. ]
[ Shane: And? ]
[ Raze: I chased it. ]
[ Shane: You chased an Abyssal Beast? ]
[ Raze: Yes. It was running toward a group of Demons, so I followed it. I ended up discovering a Demon stronghold and destroyed it with Roan. That’s when the System told me that I had triggered a Hidden Quest. ]
[ Shane: What was the quest? ]
[ Raze: Dragon’s Wrath. I had to destroy three Demon strongholds while fighting alongside Roan. The reward was a Dragon Knight skill. ]
[ Max: No wonder you’re Rank 7. ]
[ Raze: I also killed plenty of Demons.]
Shane nodded. That made sense. Raze had not only fought throughout the invasion but had also accidentally discovered a Hidden Quest simply by following an Abyssal Beast into enemy territory.
[ Shane: What about you, Asad? ]
[ Asad: Mine was related to my Necromancer Talent. I raised a demonic undead army during the invasion, and after I reached a certain number, I triggered a Hidden Quest. The objective was to raise three thousand undead before the event ended. ]
[ Max: Three thousand?! ]
[ Asad: I completed it. The reward was a special Necromancer skill. ]
Shane was impressed. The Abyssal Invasion had created the perfect battlefield for Asad. Every battle left behind countless corpses that he could turn into new undead.
[ Shane: Elsa? ]
[ Elsa: I was defending Blue Haven Shelter. There was a large water reservoir nearby, so I used it to fight the Demons. After I successfully defended the shelter without losing a single Survivor, I triggered a Hidden Quest. ]
[ Shane: What was the reward? ]
[ Elsa: Ocean’s Domain.]
Shane nodded. The skill name alone sounded intimidating already.
[ Shane: And Reylin? ]
[ Reylin: I completed seven Hidden Quests.]
The Guild Chat immediately became quiet.
[ Max: Seven? ]
[ Reylin: They were all related to my Production Talent. I had to create different weapons, defensive equipment, medical supplies, and other items for Survivors and shelters. The rewards were mostly blueprints and materials, although I also received a special Production skill. ]
Shane finally understood.
Reylin might not have killed a single Demon, but she had spent the entire invasion producing equipment that helped countless Survivors survive. On top of that, she had completed seven Hidden Quests.
It was no wonder she had reached Rank 10.
Shane then looked at the final name.
[ Shane: Tundra, what about you? You’re Rank 1. ]
[ Tundra: Well... I got a floating island here... Hehe. ]
Everyone was obviously shocked, and after calming them down, he swiftly explained.
[ Tundra: Yes. The entire island rose into the sky. We discovered a massive facility buried underneath it, but we haven’t explored it yet. ]
[ Max: Wait, how you moving it? Are you piloting it to go to the mainland? ]
[ Tundra: I don’t control it. We’re just going anywhere. Well, we have the gate stones installed anyway... ]
[ Shane: What if it continued flying high in the sky until you’re all frozen to death? ]
