Tundra received special rewards for dealing the final blow to Draveth, including a new title and valuable items. Just as the remaining Demon Generals were about to escape, a powerful explosion rocked the battlefield, and an old mage named Merlin appeared. Merlin quickly subdued one of the Demon Generals, Varaxis, with powerful fire and lightning magic, killing him instantly. The other Demon General, Maltheris, ordered a retreat, but Merlin intervened, stopping the remaining demons with a powerful windstorm before capturing Maltheris using a mysterious black crystal.

Maltheris desperately struggled as he was dragged away from the dimensional scar.

To everyone’s shock, the old mage actually entered the dimensional scar while still holding the Demon General...

The defenders could only stare.

"Did Merlin just enter the rift?"

Nobody answered. They thought that Merlin wanted to stop the Demon General from escaping... However, instead of doing that, he actually helped the Demon General enter the other dimension.

The dimensional scar suddenly began shaking violently.

BOOM!

A powerful explosion erupted from inside.

Then another.

BOOM!

BOOM!

The defenders could hear Maltheris screaming from the other side, but they couldn’t see what was happening.

Shinja immediately became concerned.

"Can he return?"

However, before anyone could answer, the dimensional scar suddenly trembled one final time.

Then, Merlin emerged!

Just like that, they saw the old mage calmly float outside the rift!

Furthermore, Maltheris was no longer with him.

Everyone immediately understood what had happened.

Merlin had chased the Demon General into another realm and had somehow defeated him there!

However, the dimensional scar was still open!

Still, Merlin wasn’t finished yet as he looked at it for a moment.

"Since I already came here, I might as well close this."

Just like that, he casually raised his hand that was holding the black crystal...

Soon, a strange magical power immediately gathered around his fingers.

The dimensional scar began to tremble.

Crack!

The entire rift suddenly shattered. Then, the dark opening disappeared completely, and the Abyssal energy that had been pouring into the world immediately stopped.

The defenders were completely silent!

"W-what?"

Merlin had killed one Demon General, chased another through a dimensional rift, and then returned before closing the entire rift with a single wave of his hand!

Tundra couldn’t help but stare at the old mage.

"That was..."

He couldn’t even finish his sentence.

Merlin, however, didn’t seem to think that he had done anything impressive.

Instead, he immediately turned toward Whisperer...

The young dragon was still standing nearby, and Merlin couldn’t help but frown...

"And you."

Whisperer’s body immediately stiffened.

"You’re wasting too many Mana Crystals. Eating five crystals should be more than enough."

Whisperer lowered his head.

The powerful Smog Dragon that had just fought against an entire Demon army suddenly looked like a child being scolded by his grandfather.

Merlin sighed.

"You are still too young. Don’t become careless simply because you have a powerful Dragon Breath."

Whisperer quietly nodded.

The defenders couldn’t help but exchange strange looks.

The old mage seemed far more concerned about scolding Whisperer for wasting his Mana.

Shinja could only shake his head.

"It seems the battle is finally over."

Tundra looked around the battlefield.

The Mist Shelter had survived the attack of three Demon Generals, but the battle had nearly destroyed their defenses. The barrier had already collapsed, several Warden Units had been damaged, the priests were exhausted, and countless soldiers had been injured.

However, they had survived.

And now, everyone had witnessed the true strength of the old mage who had arrived at the very end.

Merlin simply looked toward the sky, seemingly unaware of how shocked everyone was.

It seemed that for him, the entire battle had only been a minor interruption.

Merlin didn’t stay in the battlefield for long.

After making sure that the shelter was no longer in immediate danger, the old mage simply turned around and began walking toward the Mist Shelter.

The defenders immediately made way for him.

Nobody dared to stop him.

After what they had just witnessed, they were still trying to understand what kind of terrifying strength Merlin actually possessed. He had killed Varaxis with only a few spells, chased Maltheris through a dimensional rift, and then returned after apparently defeating the Demon General in another realm.

Just like that, he walked through the battlefield while the soldiers and Super Soldiers watched him in silence.

The old mage eventually reached the central building of the Mist Shelter.

This was where one of the Gate Stones had been installed.

Although he was a traditional mage who relied on his own understanding of magic rather than the System, he was still capable of recognizing the incredible value of the Gate Stones.

They were not ordinary teleportation devices.

They were connected to the network of shelters under Shane’s control, allowing important figures and resources to move between different locations.

Merlin had originally come from Springriver Manor.

When the Abyssal Invasion had begun, he had stayed there to help defend the farmland shelter. He had personally killed several Demon Generals that had appeared in the area, and after seeing the remaining Demons being pushed back by the defenders, he had finally determined that the situation there was under control.

That was when he decided to come to Mist Shelter.

After all, this was the newest shelter Shane had created.

It was also one of the shelters closest to the dimensional scar.

Merlin knew that Shane had already sent Harper here with several important blueprints.

The Arcflinger Repeater and the Boomblade Lance were both powerful weapons that could greatly improve the shelter’s defensive capabilities.

However, Merlin also understood that these weapons alone would not be enough.

Even with Travis assisting the defenders, Mist Shelter had still been placed in an extremely dangerous situation.

And Travis...

Merlin knew that the man was only a clone.

It was not the real Travis.

That alone was enough to make Merlin concerned.

Soon, a few soldiers immediately bowed when they saw enter the chamber, but Merlin simply waved his hand.

"I need to go to New Genesis..."

"Yes!"

The guards then gestured for him to use the Gate Stone at the center.

Soon, a strange light began to spread across its surface.

Merlin knew that there was still a major battlefield happening there.

New Genesis Shelter was one of the most important strongholds under Shane’s command. It was a place filled with advanced technology, powerful Mechs, and numerous Warden Units.

Arial was also there.

The half-human, half-machine commander was one of the strongest leaders Shane had appointed to oversee his shelters.

Merlin had met Arial before. He was strong and capable. He was not someone who needed to be protected like an ordinary survivor.

However, Merlin also knew that the Abyssal Invasion was not an ordinary event.

If the Demons were already capable of sending multiple Demon Generals to attack a single shelter, then there was no reason to believe that New Genesis Shelter would be safe.

Merlin had already helped the other shelters...

Now, it was time to see what was happening at New Genesis.

Meanwhile, at the Mist Shelter, the defenders were finally able to breathe.

The battle was not over yet as there were still countless Demons outside the shelter.

However, the situation had changed completely since the Demon army no longer had its commanders.

The army that had once seemed unstoppable had suddenly become leaderless.

The remaining Demons were still dangerous, but they were no longer capable of coordinating their attacks.

Just like that, the Demon Knights tried to continue their advance since they had no choice.

They tried their best, but without the Demon Generals commanding them, their movements became disorganized.

The Warlocks were the first to realize that something was wrong.

They could no longer receive clear orders... Some attempted to retreat while others tried to continue attacking.

The Demon Knights, meanwhile, were still advancing toward the shelter, only to find themselves facing an enemy that had already recovered from the chaos caused by the three Generals.

"Fire!"

The turrets immediately opened fire.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Explosive rounds tore through the advancing Demon Knights.

The Warden Units charged forward at the same time while the Super Soldiers followed behind them.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Anti-Vampire bullets tore through the corrupted bodies of the Demons, preventing them from recovering properly.

The priests also joined the attack.

Now that the dimensional scar had disappeared, the Abyssal energy that had been strengthening the Demons was no longer being replenished!

"Haha! The Abyssal Energy is gone!"

"Perfect! We can overpower them."

"They’re no longer regenerating from our attacks! Take this opportunity!"

The dark corruption that had covered the battlefield began to weaken.

The priests immediately took advantage of this opportunity.

"Purify them!"

Holy light swept across the battlefield.

The remaining Demons screamed as the Holy Power burned through their corrupted bodies.

The defenders were finally taking control.

As the bombardment continued, some of the Demons attempted to escape, but the defenders had already surrounded the battlefield.

One by one, the Demons were slaughtered!

The Demon Knights that had once marched toward the Mist Shelter with complete confidence were now falling under the combined assault of the defenders.

Just like that, the defenders had won.

It had been a difficult battle...

The Mist Shelter had suffered heavy damage, and many soldiers had been injured.

Yet, they succeeded!

"That’s quite anti-climactic," Tundra muttered as he thought that he would have to spend all the bombs he had prepared.

Still, Tundra had something to do next... Although Merlin closed the dimensional scar or rift, there must be traces left behind that he must see.
