Mist Shelter successfully repelled the first demon wave with overwhelming firepower and strategic defenses. Despite heavy resource expenditure, the survivors emerged victorious with minimal casualties, then immediately began looting the fallen demons for valuable cores and materials. Meanwhile, alchemist Anna at Eclipse Domain Shelter collected complete demon corpses for research, analyzing their unique biological properties to potentially develop new alchemical solutions and enhanced weaponry.

Inside the Eclipse Domain Shelter, Anna’s laboratory had transformed into something resembling a battlefield of science.

Rows of demon corpses lay on reinforced tables, their terrifying bodies were illuminated by the glow of Light Orbs...

While the apprentices recoiled at the sight of blackened veins and corrupted organs of the Demons, Anna closely studied them with her eyes gleaming with curiosity.

Blood, rot, and corruption didn’t faze her... she was an alchemist, and this was only raw material for her.

"M-master..."

"Is there anything we can help you?"

"I think I can clean this side."

"W-wait... Should we remove the skin as well? Can they be used to make hides?"

Since they didn’t use the system to loot the Demons, there were certain items they couldn’t obtain from them, but there were also things that they could have, like their hides, flesh, and blood...

It was something that the Foreign Survivors wouldn’t dare to do since Experience Points and Reputation Points only appear when looted.

In short, they wouldn’t level up or gain any experience points if they copied Anna’s method.

After all, there was a limit to how much damage a corpse must have to at least obtain some loot from it.

If it were heavily dismantled like what Anna was doing now, they might even fail to loot it with the help of the system.

In any case, her apprentices watched nervously as she plunged her scalpel into the chest of an Avarice Demon.

Ssakkk...

The flesh resisted since they were tougher than steel cables, but Anna’s enchanted blade cut through with it easily...

She extracted a chunk of tissue and held it up to the light.

The veins pulsed faintly, as if the corruption was still there...

"Observe," she said softly while her eyes glowed with yellow light.

She was definitely using a special skill, and the apprentices noticed it.

It could be the Spirit Eye, Alchemy Eye, Appraisal Eye, or something else.

"This tissue doesn’t die when separated. It continues to spread corruption, even outside the body. That means the Abyssal energy is self‑sustaining. If we can isolate it, we can weaponize it."

The apprentices scribbled furiously, their hands shaking.

One dared to ask, "Weaponize it, Miss Anna? Isn’t that dangerous?"

Anna smirked. "Alchemy is always dangerous. But danger is also opportunity. Hmm... Look, can you imagine the arrows tipped with stabilized corruption? What if demons are struck by their own essence? Would they rot from within?"

She moved to the Imps, dissecting one with swift motions.

Its organs were shriveled, but its heart pulsed faintly with residual energy.

Anna placed the heart into a crystal vial, then poured a drop of Spirit‑infused reagent.

Sszzzhhh~

The reaction was immediate... the heart convulsed, then it started releasing a burst of black smoke.

"See that? The corruption reacts violently to Spirit energy. That’s why priests are effective. But if we refine the balance... Spirit to corruption, we could create suppressants. A potion to slow infection, perhaps even reverse early stages."

Her apprentices gasped...

Though their knowledge of alchemy wasn’t at her level, they were still aware of the situation.

One whispered, "That could save lives..."

Anna nodded, already moving to the Abyssal Beast.

Its hide was thick, layered like armor.

She tapped it with a hammer, producing a dull echo.

"This material is extraordinary. Stronger than steel, resistant to fire, and infused with corruption... or maybe I should call it Abyssal Energy? Hmm... It could probably create shields that resist corruption. Not just resist... repel."

She carefully removed a fang, its jagged edge glowing faintly.

Holding it up, she murmured, "This is more than a weapon. It’s a reagent. If ground into powder and mixed with Spirit Stones, it could amplify elemental effects. Fire that burns hotter, ice that freezes deeper, lightning that strikes harder."

Hours passed as Anna catalogued every discovery.

She tested blood samples against alchemical reagents, watched organs react to purification charms, and measured the resilience of hides and bones.

Where others saw terrifying, she saw formulas, possibilities, and breakthroughs.

At one point, she combined a drop of demon blood with purified silver dust...

Well, she had an idea of what it could do against Vampires.

This time, however, she wanted to make sure if the same reaction would happen with Demons...

Well, whatever the result would be, it would be very interesting to see for reference...

Soon, the mixture hissed, then solidified into a black crystal.

"Ah?"

Anna’s eyes widened as she carefully studied the crystal.

After about half an hour, with the help of her apprentice, she confirmed that they had just discovered something new.

"This... this is new. A hybrid material. If forged, it could create weapons that pierce Abyssal armor. Write this down... Silver‑Corruption Alloy."

Her apprentices exchanged uneasy glances as they realized that her naming sense wasn’t that good either.

However, none of them spoke about it and accepted the name of the new material.

Furthermore, they knew Anna was brilliant, but her willingness to handle corruption so casually still amazed them.

Still, her confidence was infectious. She wasn’t afraid of doing such experiments at all.

Finally, Anna stood back, wiping her hands.

The tables were covered in samples, vials, and notes.

The corpses were no longer just bodies... they were precious resources that they had now understood.

"Unlike the Vampires that were quite useless as they turn easily into ash, these Demons are a lot better..."

The apprentices couldn’t help but feel stunned a little after hearing Anna praise the Demons.

Anna noticed their weird look and laughed.

"These demons are terrifying," she said. "But they are not invincible. Their corruption is powerful, but that power can be studied, refined, and turned against them..."

Her apprentices bowed their heads, inspired despite their fear.

Even if they didn’t fully understand Anna’s words, they knew that it was simply because they were lacking...

She had shown them that alchemy wasn’t just about potions and charms... it was about adaptation, about turning the Abyss itself into a weapon.

Anna smiled faintly... "Prepare the reagents. Tomorrow, we begin crafting."

On the second day of the Abyssal Invasion, the Eclipse Domain Shelter faced a storm unlike anything they had endured before...

As a matter of fact, all the shelters experienced the same thing!

The first wave yesterday had been brutal, but manageable... Imps, Avarice Demons, and Abyssal Beasts had fallen quite easily with enough firepower...

Yet as dawn broke, the dimensional scar released a darker, heavier energy.

Soon, the ground trembled, and from the rift emerged Demon Knights clad in black armor!

Behind them, Demon Warlocks floated ominously, chanting some curses or whatever it was that made the surroundings turn darker...

Soon, Bolts of Abyssal magic rained down, striking the barrier of the Eclipse Domain!

"Demon Knights and Warlocks! It’s the second day! Kill them!"

"Priests! Purify the surroundings!"

The defenders felt the difference immediately... these demons were not mindless beasts. They were definitely strong!

"Shit! The curses can pass through the barrier! Be careful!"

"Let the Warden Units and Mechs handle the Demons who were getting closer!"

The priests on the walls raised their relics, chanting louder to reinforce the protective aura. Purification light was activated, but the Warlocks countered with waves of shadow, corrupting the very air.

The Warden Units in front suddenly slowed their advance as they clashed against the Knights’ armor, which resisted steel and spirit alike.

Anna, still in her laboratory, rushed to the battlements with her apprentices.

She carried vials of her newly‑crafted suppressants, tossing them to wounded fighters...

The Warlocks seemed to have the abilities, or perhaps curses, that could pass through their Aegis Barrier!

"Drink! It will slow the corruption!" she commanded.

The potions worked...

Soon, the infected soldiers steadied themselves as their bodies resisted the Abyssal rot long enough to keep fighting...

But even with alchemy, the tide was overwhelming.

The Warlocks’ spells tore through ranks, and the Knights pressed forward continuously...

"The Wardens can’t handle the Demons."

"These Demons are different... The Wardens are suited for Zombies but not Demons."

"Mhmm... Don’t worry. It’s not like we weren’t prepared for this."

"That’s true... We have barely shown our true force."

The Eclipse Domain Shelter shook under the assault.

It was then that the ground itself rumbled with a deeper roar.

Roooaarrr!

As soon as they heard this, the defenders and other survivors of the Eclipse Domain shelter realized what was going on...

From the heart of the shelter, the great dragon Ember stirred!

This was one of Shane’s summoned dragons!

For days it had slumbered, conserving its strength, but now its golden eyes snapped open.

Perhaps it was due to the scent being given off by the Warlocks and Demon Knights that Dragon Ember had finally awoken!

The defenders looked up in awe as Ember unfurled its massive wings!

Soon, Dragon Ember launched into the sky.

In just a few moments, flames cascaded from its mouth, sweeping across the battlefield!

BOom!

Demon Knights raised their shields, but Ember’s fire was no ordinary flame... it was infused with Mana, burning through corruption and armor alike.

Warlocks shrieked as their spells were consumed in torrents of dragonfire.

The battlefield transformed instantly.

The Wardens rallied behind Ember’s presence!

The Demon Knights tried to regroup, but Ember descended with a thunderous impact!

Boom!

Ember easily tore through their ranks...

Warlocks attempted to bind the dragon with chains of shadow, but Ember’s wings shattered them with radiant force.

By dusk, the battlefield was littered with broken armor and charred corpses...

"This dragon... he finally acted." Anna heaved a sigh of relief as she looked Ember who was going back to sleep!
