Shane has revealed Eden Island as the new base for the Eclipse Revenant Clan, planning to rebuild civilization by accommodating ten thousand survivors. He began recruiting specialists like herbalists, blacksmiths, hunters, farmers, and trackers to contribute to the new settlement. The next day, Shane discovered that most members were already dispatched on missions, with one particularly dangerous mission involving the purge of Brood Crawler Vampires in an abandoned city's sewer system.

Shane studied the digital parchment pinned to the board. This was quite new.

"Interesting..." he muttered as he read the mission again.

"Before, our missions were only zombie‑related. Now vampires are showing up on the listings."

He leaned closer, scanning the details of the Brood Nest Purge.

The mention of Brood Crawler Vampires was unusual.

Vampires rarely nested in sewers... they preferred ruins, castles, or places of power. This was something different, something quite pitiful.

Shane’s fingers brushed the edge of the parchment, and he turned to check the rest of the board.

More missions had been posted overnight. His gaze caught two more vampire‑related assignments.

[ Mission 4: "Bloodshade Patrol" ]

[Objective: Eliminate Bloodshade Vampires prowling the outskirts of the abandoned Wild Shelters. Their ambushes have slaughtered survivors.

Threat Level: High

Target: 20 Bloodshade Vampires, 1 Bloodshade Captain

Rewards: High‑Grade Blood Crystals ×120, Crimson Cloak Fragment ×1, Clan EXP +700, Clan Skill Proficiency +40

Completed: 0/3 ]

[ Mission 5: "Nightfang Hunt" ]

[ Objective: Hunt Nightfang Vampires who have infiltrated Ironheart, a Neutral Shelter, through their trade routes. Their stealth abilities make them nearly invisible in the dark.

Threat Level: Severe

Target: 15 Nightfang Vampires, 1 Nightfang Assassin

Rewards: High‑Grade Blood Crystals ×150, Shadow Essence ×2, Clan EXP +900, Clan Skill Proficiency +50

Completed: 0/1 ]

Shane’s eyes lingered on the Nightfang Hunt.

"Assassins... That’s going to be trouble," he murmured.

Ironheart Shelter may be small but Shane heard that it was providing their shelter with some plants with Zombie Repellant effects.

Then his gaze shifted to a digital parchment pinned slightly apart from the rest. Although it was digital, it seemed as if the ink was darker, and the paper thicker.

"This..."

Shane realized that it was trying to emphasize its importance.

[ Mission 8: "Wyvern Skirmish" ]

[ Objective: Engage and repel Wyverns of the Dragon Army sighted near the Ashen Hills. Their aerial patrols threaten supply lines.

Threat Level: Extreme

Target: 5 Wyverns, 1 Wyvern Commander

Rewards: Wyvern Scale ×10, Draconic Gene Fragment ×1, Clan EXP +1200, Clan Skill Proficiency +70

Completed: 0/5 ]

What was even more concerning about this was the fact that it could be completed 5 times!

Shane exhaled slowly, a faint smile tugging at his lips.

"So even the Dragon Army is showing up on the board now. Wyverns... That’s not something you send rookies against."

His amusement must have carried, because the receptionist, a young woman with sharp eyes and a ledger in her hands, looked up from her desk.

She had been quietly recording mission completions, but now she spoke.

"You seem amused, Leader," she said carefully.

Shane turned toward her, his expression softening.

"I am. For over a year, our missions were simple... zombies, infestations, patrols. Now vampires and wyverns are listed like routine exterminations. It shows how far we’ve come... and how dangerous the world has become."

The receptionist nodded.

"It’s true. And there were even missions before about Dragonoids. But those never stayed on the board for long."

Shane raised a brow. "Oh?"

Dragonoids were certainly a lot more concerning. Not because of their strength but because of their intelligence.

She looked around the building for a moment, then she lowered her voice as if sharing gossip.

"Miss Raze cleared them almost immediately. Every time a Dragonoid mission appeared, she took it without hesitation. Some say she has a grudge against them. Others think it’s personal."

Shane chuckled, shaking his head.

"That sounds like Raze. Always chasing her vendettas. Dragonoids... they’re dangerous, but she treats them like prey."

The receptionist smiled faintly.

"It’s effective, though. We haven’t had Dragonoid infestations near Springriver for months."

Shane crossed his arms and nodded.

"Still, it’s unusual. Missions evolving like this means the Apocalypse is still unstable. It’s shifting. Zombies, vampires, wyverns, dragonoids... all appearing on the same board. That’s not coincidence. It’s escalation. Something bigger will happen soon."

The receptionist tapped her ledger and sighed.

"I heard other Foreign Survivors talk about it. They said that the next Monster Wave will be huge and we might suffer the biggest casualties yet... Furtherhmore, missions are categorized by clan strength. Since Eclipse Revenant has grown, the listings have grown too. Stronger enemies, higher rewards. The next wave will be harder against us as well."

Shane nodded slowly.

"Makes sense. The stronger we become, the more the system tests us. Eden Island will need this kind of preparation. If we can’t handle vampire assassins or wyvern commanders, we won’t survive what’s coming."

The receptionist tilted her head. "Eden Island? Ahem. Is that the rumored new shelter? Do you think Eden Island will need mercenaries? I can arrange a Clan Mission with my current authority and with your approval, Leader..."

"Really? Hmmm... Right, go ahead. Put a mission that once the gate to Eden Island gets established, we need mercenaries to work there and tell them to prepare for enemies of demonic type.."

"Demonic type?" The receptionist repeated in shock.

"Yes... You don’t need to elaborate it. I’m also unsure about these demons. Their categories, skills, and power changes depending on their type of corruption... We’ll know more once the priests completed their studies."

"I see... That’s already enough information, leader. As for the payment or reward, I’ll let the system handle it autmatically."

"Is there a feature like that? Alright..."

"One mission must be cleared up then... Before that, do you think there would be some kind of Demon King or Demon Lords variants as well?"

"I hope not... But there could be."

She hesitated, then asked, "And you’re confident we can handle it?"

Shane’s lips curved into a faint smile. "Confidence isn’t the word. Preparedness is. We have the Mech Frames, the Elves, the Flying Fortress, the allied Clans, the Barriers, the Wardens, many High Ranking Survivors." Shane replied.

"Speaking of which, just Asad’s necromancy is already equivalent to a huge army... Together, we’re building more than a clan. We’re building civilization. That’s how we’ll survive."

The receptionist’s eyes softened. "You sound certain."

Shane chuckled again. "Certainty is a luxury. But I’ve seen enough to know we can’t afford doubt. If we hesitate, we can die."

Their conversation stretched, moving between practical details and philosophical musings. Shane asked about mission completions, resource allocations, and squad rotations.

The receptionist explained how missions were logged, how rewards were distributed, and how clan EXP translated into skill proficiency.

Shane listened carefully, occasionally interjecting with questions. "How many squads are active right now?"

"In this shelter... Seven," she replied. "Four on zombie exterminations, two on vampire hunts, one on resource gathering."

"And the wyvern mission? Why’s no one taking it?"

"No one has claimed it yet since it’s considered too dangerous without aerial support."

Shane nodded. "I’ll assign it personally. Wyverns aren’t to be underestimated."

The receptionist hesitated, then asked, "Do you ever worry the missions are endless? That no matter how many we complete, more will appear?"

Shane’s gaze was steady. "Of course. But that’s the nature of the Apocalypse. Endless threats. Endless battles. The point isn’t to finish them all. The point is to endure long enough to rebuild. We needed those rewards anyway."

The receptionist smiled faintly. "Now that you said it, it sounds reasonable."

Shane’s chuckle was low. "It’s anything but simple. But simplicity is what keeps us moving."

Their conversation continued until the sound of boots echoed through the hall.

A squad entered. They actually looked weary but triumphant.

Their armor was scratched, their weapons were stained with blood, but their eyes showed they had achieved victory.

The receptionist straightened immediately, setting her ledger aside. "Mission report?" she asked crisply.

The squad leader stepped forward, saluting Shane.

Well, they had seen Shane’s numerous statues.

From the gates, fountains, corners of the streets, or even house decorations.

It wouldn’t be surprising if everyone recognized him.

"Leader. We’ve completed the Kennel Cull mission. Fifteen Dog Zombies eliminated, Alpha Dog neutralized. Casualties: none. Injuries: minor."

Shane’s eyes turned over them, assessing their line up.. "Good work. I can tel you are all below Level 40... That’s impressive. Collect your rewards."

The squad leader nodded, handing over a pouch filled with cores.

"Zombie Cores ×40, as listed. We also recovered additional scraps from the kennels."

They weren’t that lucky when it comes to looting, so it wasn’t too surprising.

The receptionist recorded everything swiftly, stamping the mission log with the clan’s insignia. "Completion logged. Rewards distributed."

Just like that, the system did its job and the rewards manifested in front of them since unlike Foreign Survivors, they had no access to inventory.

Shane stepped closer, encouraging the group.

"You all did well. Missions like these may seem routine, but every extermination matters. Every core, every resource, every skill point builds toward our survival and our shelters. Remember that."

The squad leader’s eyes lit with pride. "Yes, Leader."

Shane nodded once, then turned back to the board.

There was actually a very weird mission displayed. It was Mission 10 and it had been bothering him for a while now...
