The team discovered three intact Gate Stones and numerous fragments in the imp-infested ruins, potentially enough to complete Shane's network. They also stumbled upon a dangerous ritual site, which they promptly destroyed to prevent further demonic influence. While the immediate threat seemed contained, the realization dawned that all apocalyptic scenarios are converging on their world. They decided to wait out the night before continuing their search for Eden Island, only to be met by a sudden, violent storm.

Boom! Boom! The tempest struck without an ounce of warning. Gusts howled through the dockyard, and heavy rain hammered against the ships... Then, just as predicted, colossal waves crashed violently against the shoreline! Providence and Excellence creaked and groaned under the immense pressure, yet fortunately, they were securely anchored within the dockyard, not exposed to the unforgiving open sea. Shane swiftly galvanized the crew. "Secure the barricades! Hold the lines fast!" Layla reinforced the defenses with her telekinetic abilities, anchoring any loose cargo and debris that threatened to shift. Tundra and Travis’ Clone braced the barricades against the onslaught, while Elsa and Lily collaborated to divert the torrents of rainwater away from the vessels. Every single person worked in unison... At this critical juncture, even Shinja’s Stormblade sliced through the oncoming waves threatening their ships... Then, Chaloem’s serene presence began to steady the increasingly panicked survivors. He emanated an aura that instilled a sense of calm. Though the surrounding peril was undeniable, they now possessed a clearer understanding of their available actions. Meanwhile, the dragons circled vigilantly overhead, their mighty wings beating resolutely against the raging storm winds... They, too, recognized the danger the humans faced. Their defiant roars echoed as lightning illuminated the sky. At the very least, their imposing presence alone bolstered the crew’s courage, assuring them of protection from the lightning strikes. But then, from the tumultuous waters, novel threats began to surface. Ghastly figures clawed their way out of the surf! Murloc Zombies, their horrific forms dragging themselves onto the dockyard. Following closely behind them, hulking figures emerged from the waves as well... They were Legged-Shark Zombies! These repulsive abominations could lumber forward on mutated limbs, their jaws capable of crushing nearly anything... "Sea zombies!" Shane bellowed. "Defend the ships! And the dockyard!" Instantly, the survivors moved to bolster the Warden Units below, tightening their formation. Shields were raised, weapons were drawn, and every fighter braced themselves for the combined assault of the storm and the encroaching zombies... "This incessant rain... It's truly irritating..." "The illumination from the orbs is insufficient... Someone, please, provide more light!" "Fire! Unleash fire!" At this moment, Chaloem perceived their significant disadvantage due to the poor visibility. Upon hearing the others' laments, he immediately took action... He pressed his palms together, and after a few focused breaths, his hands erupted in flames! Then, with a deliberate sweep of his hands, he directed his fiery energy towards the lamps that Mystra and the others had positioned for the Light Orbs! Whoosh~ Whoosh~ Suddenly, Chaloem’s Aura Flame blazed, illuminating the entire area and granting them a far clearer view of the unfolding situation... "Now! This is much better!" "Thank you, Sir Chaloem!" "Amitabha!" Yet, the formidable challenges persisted... The rain poured down in relentless sheets, drenching armor and saturating clothing, while the wind battered them with such force it felt as though the dockyard itself might be ripped asunder. Boom! Boom! Boom! Finally, explosions erupted as Tundra hurled his potent bombs into the advancing ranks of sea zombies. The concussive blasts briefly illuminated the night, revealing the submerged bodies of the writhing zombies. Shinja also joined the fray, his Stormblade flashing as he cut down the initial wave of creatures that reached the barricades. "Get out of the way!" Elsa and Lily then combined their formidable powers, unleashing waves of water and slicing winds to drive the attackers back into the churning sea. This time, they vowed, they would not be overwhelmed by the onslaught! Subsequently, after Chaloem enhanced their visibility, he also joined forces with the Warden Units to halt the further advance of the Sea Zombies... "What abysmal weather... There were no preceding signs at all... Could this be a consequence of desecrating the ritual grounds?" Travis’ Clone mused aloud as he fought at the forefront, striking down any creature that managed to breach their defenses. Regrettably, no one could offer a definitive answer. The storm simply intensified its fury... Whoosh~ Whoosh~ The torrential rain obscured their vision, transforming the ground into a treacherous, slippery surface... Every movement felt heavy. The relentless waves continued to hurl more grotesque bodies onto the dockyard as Murloc Zombies dragged themselves relentlessly forward... Fortunately, these particular zombies lacked overwhelming strength. They were likely only low-grade to mid-grade threats. The primary concern remained their sheer numbers and the formidable entities lurking behind them... the colossal Legged-Shark Zombies! They rose from the depths, their monstrous limbs propelling them forward with unnerving speed... As the fierce battle commenced, it quickly became apparent that conventional skills and attacks would prove ineffective against these enhanced foes. It was as if the storm itself amplified their inherent power! They appeared significantly stronger compared to their previous encounters. "Be cautious! They've received a buff! Unleash everything you have!" Shane commanded. With this critical intelligence, the defenders momentarily struggled but managed to hold their ground... Soon, they began channeling more Spirit Points to unleash their most potent skills. Furthermore, it was at this precise moment that the majestic dragons descended from the tempestuous sky.

With a thunderous roar, the first dragon, Hunter, unleashed a torrent of flame that illuminated the stormy night. The fire engulfed the dockyard, incinerating scores of Murloc Zombies attempting to scurry from the waves!

The second dragon, Winter, plunged from above, its colossal form crashing relentlessly into the Legged-Shark Zombies.

Boom!

The collision sent the monstrous creatures tumbling back into the churning water, their shrieks lost amidst the tempest's fury.

Their combined might had so swiftly reversed the dire situation!

The dockyard, on the brink of being overwhelmed moments before, was now secure, shielded by the dragons' formidable presence.

"Alright! Stay close!"

Shane commanded, raising his talisman and channeling his Spirit Points into it.

It was the Warden’s Talisman!

It flared with brilliant light, summoning spectral centaurs that charged forward, bolstering the defenses!

Their ethereal blades struck down the struggling sea zombies, buying invaluable time.

Natalie, no longer hesitant, lifted her staff, unleashing bursts of radiant energy that scorched the corrupted flesh of the creatures that had managed to breach the dockyard!

United, the defenders pushed back against the storm's onslaught and the relentless assault of the undead.

Every survivor fought with their last reserves, and gradually, the waves of enemies began to recede...

The dragons wheeled overhead, their roars echoing, maintaining the dockyard's safety.

By the time the first rays of dawn pierced the cloud cover, the storm's intensity had waned...

At the very least, many of the survivors, not yet at their peak, had advanced in level and were approaching their limits.

Nevertheless, the dockyard bore the scars of battle; the barricades erected by the elves were largely destroyed, and the survivors stood drenched and utterly exhausted.

Yet, they were alive. Providence and Excellence remained afloat, their hulls marred but intact.

Meanwhile, the dragons settled on the ships above. Once they confirmed the situation was stable, they found comfortable spots on the deck, coiled themselves, and drifted into slumber...

Shane gazed out at the vast, desolate sea, littered with floating corpses...

"Alright, everyone... let's loot them all!"

Simultaneously, within the Omega Stronghold, the private chamber Alex had selected remained silent save for the soft hiss emanating from the slowly draining mana crystals.

Their residual glow bathed the room in a gentle light, casting elongated shadows along the stone walls.

Merlin stood centered, his staff planted firmly by his side. Beads of sweat dotted his forehead. The ritual circle pulsed with a faint luminescence, its runes fading as the last vestiges of energy dispersed.

Alex sat cross-legged inside the circle, his breathing steady... but deep within, he could perceive it... a nascent spark of mana now stirring within him.

It was small, delicate, yet undeniably present. His eyes widened as he clenched his fists, feeling a subtle warmth course through his veins.

Merlin released a slow breath, lowering his staff. "It is complete," he declared.

"Your mana has awakened."

Alex looked up, a flicker of concern crossing his features. "Master Merlin... are you well? You appear utterly drained."

He did not immediately rejoice, observing Merlin's fatigued state.

Merlin emitted a soft chuckle, leaning against the wall. "I am well. It required more crystals than anticipated, but you provided ample. It seems you sensed your own innate talent was not the most potent."

Alex sheepishly rubbed the back of his head. "I... had a premonition. I did not wish to squander your efforts, so I gathered as much as possible."

Merlin gave an approving nod. "A prudent decision. Mana awakening is rarely straightforward, particularly for one lacking natural affinity. However, you persevered, and the ritual was successful. Congratulations... You may now embark on the journey of a mage."

Alex's excitement surged. He sprang to his feet, raising his hands as though preparing to cast a spell.

"Then allow me to try! Perhaps a mana shield... or a magic missile!"

Merlin burst into laughter, shaking his head. "You have only just awakened your mana, Alex. It is but a faint spark within you, and you are no longer young. Your body requires time to adapt. Should you attempt to cast now, you will collapse before the spell can even manifest."

Alex froze, then lowered his hands with a crestfallen expression. "So... no shield?"

"No shield," Merlin stated firmly. "And no missile either. For the present, you must learn to sense the mana, to guide its flow through your body. Control must precede power."

Alex sighed, but a grin soon reappeared on his face. "Very well. I shall heed your words. I will train. Even as a mere novice, I will make the most of this opportunity."

Merlin's tired eyes softened.

"That resolve will serve you more effectively than any spell. Magic is not about haste. It demands patience, discipline, and comprehension. If you can master these qualities, even a modest spark like yours can illuminate the darkness."

Alex bowed deeply...

"Thank you, Master Merlin. I would do anything to repay you."
