Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle Chapter 1158 1158: Avoiding the Disaster
Previously on Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle...
Tensions escalated dramatically...
The sudden manifestation of the Vampire Lord had utterly shattered their meticulously laid plans. Unlike the Zombie Lords from the mainland, this particular Vampire offered no preliminary warning.
There was no prompt from the system informing them that they had trespassed into its domain!
At this precise moment, the Vampire Lord, subjected to a barrage of attacks from every direction, remained unmoving. It was enveloped in a sanguineous cloak, exuding an oppressive, suffocating aura.
Shane staggered backward, his hand clamped to his chest, where a gaping wound bled profusely.
For the very first time, the Rank 1 Survivor appeared undeniably vulnerable, mortal.
His sight swam, a profound sensation of life force ebbing away overtook him, and his body threatened to collapse.
Then, a system notification materialized—a stark reminder of his innate Talent!
[ False Revival Talent (Epic) ] When a Survivor dies, they are not immediately lost to the void. Instead, they enter a temporary state of revival lasting 10 seconds. During this time, the Survivor must claim the life of another Survivor by any means.
If successful, the Survivor's own life is restored.
Failure to secure a life within the time limit results in permanent death. ]
Shane had never truly desired to employ this particular Talent, yet he was profoundly grateful for its existence all this time.
[ False Revival Talent Activated ]
[ 10 seconds remaining. Claim another life to revive. ]
Shane's eyelids snapped open. He absolutely could not perish here, not under these circumstances.
He uttered a single word, "Shadow Step."
[ Shadow Step Lv5 Activated ]
His form dissolved into shadow, instantly traversing five meters. Its lack of cooldown, save for a significant drain on Spirit Points, allowed him to rematerialize behind one of the Fort's guards.
This unfortunate individual had already been turned by a zombie, his veins darkened, and his eyes beginning to glow red. He was clinging to consciousness, likely due to his exceptional vitality and level...
However, the insidious infection had almost completely taken hold.
Shane's blade moved in a swift arc.
The strike was brutally efficient. The guard emitted a single choked sound before collapsing.
His life was taken.
[ False Revival Complete. Vitality Restored. ]
"Whew~"
The wound on Shane's chest knitted shut, a surge of renewed vigor coursed through him, and he stood tall once more, though a tremor of raw fear had indeed gripped him moments before...
His gaze then fell upon the fallen man.
"I am so sorry... You were already succumbing, but I still hastened your end. Please forgive me," Shane said, acknowledging the fact that he had indeed cut short the man's remaining time. He likely would have held out for another ten minutes.
Regardless, there was no room for lingering sorrow.
The Vampire Lord stood before them. For reasons unknown, it remained utterly unaffected by the explosives Tundra had deployed... Bullets, too, seemed to pass through its blood-formed body as if it were mere mist.
"Protect Shane!"
Tundra bellowed...
His muscles bulged as he hurled another explosive device. He remained oblivious to the fact that Shane had, in fact, recovered.
Nevertheless, Shane witnessed Tundra's attack erupt in a massive explosion that rocked the ramparts. Yet, the Vampire Lord strode through the inferno without a single mark.
Pascal and the militia unleashed a relentless volley, but their bullets dissolved into nothingness.
Garron charged forward with his axe, only to be violently thrown back by a wave of crimson energy.
The Vampire Lord let out a chilling laugh, observing the utterly futile attacks aimed its way...
"Your weapons are mere playthings. None of you possess the ability to inflict harm upon me," the Vampire Lord declared, its voice dripping with scorn.
Shane's brow furrowed.
There was no logical explanation for the Vampire Lord's astounding power. There had to be some hidden mechanism at play...
The situation defied all sense.
Was their reliance on the sun truly necessary? Did it possess some artifact that nullified the potency of silver projectiles?
After contemplating these possibilities, he advanced...
Finally, Tundra and the others became aware that he had been restored through some inexplicable means.
How he achieved this remained a mystery, but their immediate concern shifted.
"I will confront it directly. Tundra... Pascal... Your priority is to defend the wall," he stated firmly.
"No!" Pascal cried out. "Nika is gone! We will have our vengeance!"
Shane, however, shook his head. "It operates on a level far beyond us. If we squander our strength, we will all perish. I will handle this entity. You all manage the horde."
The defenders hesitated, their hearts heavy with grief yet burdened by fear.
But Shane was about to demonstrate his formidable capabilities...
He initiated a sequence of his abilities.
[ Aura Suppression Activated ]
A wave of power expanded outward, diminishing the Vampire Lord's inherent enhancements and consequently reducing its combat prowess.
Simultaneously, he launched his offensive!
[ Soul Rend Activated ]
Shane's assault circumvented physical defenses, directly assaulting the Vampire Lord's very spirit!
Indeed, given that the Vampire Lord was impervious to all forms of physical damage, targeting its spiritual essence was the most logical recourse!
The resulting backlash of spirit damage triggered by the strike significantly hampered its regenerative capabilities!
"You won't escape this time. That was your final opportunity to end me..." Shane murmured, activating yet another Survivor Skill.
[ Spirit Shackles Activated ]
Soon, spectral chains materialized, enveloping the Vampire Lord and impeding his movements while siphoning his essence!
While this might not be entirely effective against a Lord-Tier Vampire, it would undoubtedly compromise his defenses.
Observing Shane's decisive sequence of attacks, everyone realized he was now employing his full strength.
Consequently, only a select few chose to remain, ready to aid Shane if needed, while the majority resolutely guarded the walls.
After all, a breach would precipitate an unimaginable catastrophe.
Feeling his spirit wane and his actions constrained, the Vampire Lord snarled, "You dare to shackle me?"
Despite his diminished state, he remained a fearsome entity. He violently tore at the shackles, disintegrating his own form, only for his body to reassemble from a mist of blood.
Shane gritted his teeth, uttering, "That maneuver again…"
He reached into his inventory.
[ Item Retrieved: Sylph's Whisper (Mythic) ]
This was among his most potent Mythic Items, originating from the Fairy Realm's Apocalypse!
With no ambient Mana present on the battlefield, Shane retrieved several Mana Crystals, scattering them around his position.
Their placement, whether on the ground or elsewhere, was inconsequential; the bow could still detect and draw their energy!
Crafted with exquisite elven artistry, this bow, though appearing ornamental with its intricate design, possessed the power to fell even the Vampire Lord!
He had witnessed its capability before!
Swiftly, the bow began conjuring its own arrows, imbued with elemental energy, directed by Shane's focused will.
He drew the bowstring taut, his gaze fixed upon the Vampire Lord.
"Fire," he commanded softly.
Instantly, the mana arrow he had formed became engulfed in elemental flame.
"Die…"
Shane released the arrow.
Whoosh!
The arrow traversed the battlefield with incredible speed, guided by pure mana.
It impacted the Vampire Lord directly in the chest!
Thud!
Struck by the projectile, the Vampire Lord staggered backward.
Remarkably, the arrow did not penetrate his form! His crimson aura flickered, and his body convulsed.
The Vampire Lord expressed astonishment, never anticipating a weapon capable of withstanding him in this place…
"This… weapon… Mana? How is there such an abundance of mana here?!"
Indeed, he had barely detected any trace of mana within the Fort, leading him to believe no one could pose a threat due to its scarcity.
However, this was unequivocally a carefully laid trap!
"You!"
Ignoring the Vampire Lord's outcry, Shane unleashed another shot.
A second fiery arrow pierced the Vampire Lord's essence, searing through the dissipating blood mist.
Crucially, the flames adhered stubbornly, resisting dissipation!
It was, after all, elemental fire!
The Vampire Lord's brow furrowed…
"I suspected as much… Those individuals wielding even a sliver of mana… They are elves. How could a mortal attain the power to command them?"
Shane frowned upon hearing the Vampire's words. A realization dawned upon him: this creature possessed knowledge of Elves, which he shouldn't have.
After all, elves hailed from a different Apocalypse! Elves should not exist within the Vampire's Rise Apocalypse!
Yet, it appeared this unfolding event harbored complexities far beyond his current understanding.
Still, his immediate priority was to vanquish this Vampire Lord… Engaging in discourse with this entity would merely squander precious time!
"Let's just hope you drop some kind of Memory Sphere…" Shane murmured.
With renewed resolve, he fired again, and again. Each arrow found its mark with unerring accuracy, guided by the bow's potent enchantments. Flames consumed the Vampire Lord's aura, compelling him to yield ground.
The defenders observing the intense confrontation watched with palpable awe.
"He's actually wounding him!" Garron exclaimed.
"Shane's arrows… they're burning right through!" Pascal gasped.
Tundra grinned… Having just subdued the adversaries on the wall, he resolved to assist Shane once more…
"Then let's keep him occupied!"
The fierce battle raged onward!
Super Soldiers relentlessly engaged the horde, Warden Units systematically cut down vampires, and enhanced warriors channeled draconic essence, all focusing on the lesser foes, leaving Shane to engage the Vampire Lord in a duel with minimal interference…
Soon, the Vampire Lord's eyes blazed with incandescent fury. He attempted to close the distance to Shane, but his advance was thwarted by the Stormlord Brand!
This was a formidable skill Shane had acquired through a Tattoo Mark!
"You!"
His initial targeting of Shane stemmed from sheer instinct… It had informed him that Shane represented the most significant threat, compelling him to expend considerable Blood Essence to manipulate Nika into launching a surprise assault…
"If I had known you could reconstitute yourself… I would have possessed your body instead…"
The Vampire Lord could only seethe with frustration this time. However, his options were not yet exhausted!
