A fourteen-year-old girl torched the mountain villa that had imprisoned her for a decade as her mad grandfather's medical guinea pig, escaping with her spirit companion, a little black cat. She coldly watched him burn to death amid his screams. A year later, established as a veterinarian in City A, an explosion during surgery transported her consciousness into a new world, awakening as Jun Wu Xie.

Lin Wang’s granddaughter, infamous as the spoiled Young Miss of the Lin Palace, was arrogant, domineering, and utterly unreasonable, viewing everyone—even royalty—as insignificant ants beneath her notice.

Lin Wang shared a deep bond with the founding Emperor of the Kingdom, forged through brotherhood sworn under the heavens. Upon establishing the Kingdom of Qi, the Emperor bestowed upon Jun Xian the exalted title of ‘Lin Wang,’ granting him authority nearly equal to that of the imperial family.

Throughout the kingdom, the Lin Palace stood as one of the most esteemed residences, compelling even the reigning Emperor to show respect. Though Lin Wang had two sons, his indulgence toward his granddaughter Jun Wu Xie knew no bounds. When she fancied the Second Prince, Lin Wang pressured the Emperor into betrothing them.

Yet now, this haughty lady lay sprawled across sharp rocks in a pitiful condition; without Wu Xie’s soul inhabiting it, her body would have been just another corpse abandoned in the wilds.

[Both legs fractured, three ribs broken on the left, right wrist dislocated... Surviving a fall from that height is nothing short of miraculous for this body.]

A different voice echoed within Jun Wu Xie’s body—the familiar tone of the little black cat that had been her companion for over ten years, now sharing the same vessel.

“Still alive,” Jun Wu Xie murmured, sprawled on the rocks with no trace of agony on her expression, as though the torment of her injuries meant nothing to her.

[Congratulations, Mistress—you’ve dodged death’s grasp yet again.] Black mist emerged from Jun Wu Xie’s chest, solidifying into a tiny black cat that pranced beside her.

Though she had endured the ordeal, death still loomed perilously close.

Her vitality ebbed away bit by bit, her body trembling under the relentless assault of the pouring rain.

She had to seek shelter swiftly before her core temperature plunged further! Fortunately, a cave nestled beneath the nearby low cliffs.

Propelled by sheer willpower and her two arms, she hauled herself toward the cave.

Her shredded garments, sodden with sweat and saturated by the storm, clung to her mangled form. Blood from her leg wounds streaked the ground behind her, swiftly diluted by the savage downpour battering the tiny crawling shape. The little black cat offered gentle prods of support as they progressed to the cave.

Summoning the last reserves of her weakened frame, the short distance proved an agonizing trial.

With injuries so severe across such unforgiving ground, even the toughest souls would have blacked out repeatedly.

Upon arriving at the shadowy cave mouth, her complexion had drained to a ghostly white, bereft of any hue.

Curling against the icy cave walls, shielded at last from the rain’s fury, she exhaled a faint breath of respite. Then, a spectral whisper emanated from the profound darkness within.

[Wh..Who’s there?]

The black cat queried in a quivering tone, fur bristling as it positioned itself protectively before Wu Xie.

“Go check it out,” Wu Xie rasped, aware of her dire straits. Stranded here without tools or aid, self-treatment was impossible—she needed another option.

Having someone nearby to assist would be ideal.

The little black cat crept forward, guiding the way toward the voice’s origin. Amid the gloom, Wu Xie sensed another presence.

“You’re on the verge of dying.” A deep male voice, laced with faint amusement, drifted down from right above her.
