Gathering Wives with a System Chapter 727 Item Above Imperial Rank, Harem Lord
Previously on Gathering Wives with a System...
An Imperial Rank item was naturally something worth looking forward to. Isaac had no idea what kind of item the system would give him, but the rank alone was enough to make him excited.
He looked at the invisible system interface in front of him and took a breath before making his decision.
'System, open the Gift Box!'
[Warforged System (Divine Rank) ticket gained.]
Isaac blinked and rubbed his eyes before looking at the notification again. He honestly wondered if he had somehow misread it, but the words remained exactly the same no matter how many times he looked at them.
He had obtained a System.
A God damn System.
Moreover, since it was a ticket, he could either use it himself or give it to one of his wives, but the thing that surprised him even more was the rank attached to it.
Divine Rank.
Until now, the highest rank he had encountered was Imperial Rank, so the appearance of a Divine Rank reward immediately caught his attention. Although the Gift Box itself had been Imperial Rank, that did not mean every reward inside it had to be Imperial Rank, since Gift Boxes could apparently produce rewards above or below their own rank depending on the result.
One example was [I, Destroy], the Mortal Rank equipment that increased its user's stats according to their anger. Isaac had obtained it from a Legendary Rank Gift Box, even though its actual rank was much lower, and he had eventually given it to Alice.
'Divine Rank…'
Isaac stared at the words again, and a smile slowly appeared on his face. Whatever the Warforged System did, something with a Divine Rank could not possibly be ordinary.
He looked at the name again, and he immediately knew who he wanted to give it to. There was no reason for him to keep something like this when one of his wives could make better use of it.
"Alice," he called as he turned around.
Alice looked toward him. "Yes?"
"You know I have an ability that allows me to obtain powerful items, right?" Isaac asked, wanting to make sure she understood what he meant before he explained anything else.
Alice nodded without hesitation. All of his wives already knew that Isaac could somehow pull out powerful items from nowhere, and he had given them the excuse that the items came from the World System.
Although they probably knew that explanation was not entirely true, none of them had ever pressed him for an answer. Isaac knew it was because they trusted him enough to wait until he was ready to explain everything.
"I have an item that I want to give you," Isaac said.
Celia immediately became interested. "Why are you talking about it like that? You normally don't make such a big deal about the things you give us, so is this one particularly special?"
"Yes," Isaac replied. "It's a Divine Rank item, and I think Divine Rank comes after Imperial Rank, so you can probably imagine how valuable it is."
Celia's eyes widened as her interest increased immediately. "What is it? Show me."
She looked as though she might actually pounce on him if he did not answer quickly enough. Alice and Emily also turned their attention toward Isaac, although they were considerably calmer than Celia.
"It's a System," Isaac finally said.
He then explained what he knew about Systems and how the Warforged System differed from the World System that already existed throughout the world. The World System was something everyone could interact with, while the Warforged System appeared to be a unique System that could belong to only one person.
He did not know exactly how it worked yet, but he could guess, since he had a personal System too. His explanation were enough to make everyone understand why he considered it valuable. If the System really was exclusive to one person and possessed Divine Rank, there was a good chance it could provide abilities or advantages that ordinary skills could never offer.
"A personal World System. That's… interesting, especially if only one person can possess it," Alice said thoughtfully.
"I didn't know something like that could exist. If it works the way you think it does, then it must be extremely powerful," Emily added with a small nod.
Celia, however, was looking at Isaac differently.
"You seem to know an awful lot about personal Systems," she said, her voice carrying a suspicious tone despite the casual expression on her face. She had already moved behind Isaac and was now clinging to his back while trying to get more information out of him.
Isaac glanced at her from the corner of his eye and smiled without answering.
"Alice, I'll give you the System now," Isaac said.
Alice thought about it before shaking her head slightly. "You should give it to Emily instead. If it's a Warforged System, it might be more useful to someone who commands an entire legion of spirits."
"Well, let's ask Emily if she thinks the same," Isaac replied, turning toward her.
Alice also turned to Emily, while Celia remained attached to Isaac's back and looked at Emily with obvious curiosity.
Emily thought about it for a while before slowly shaking her head. She seemed to be carefully considering the offer rather than rejecting it immediately.
"I… don't think I need it. I know it might sound strange when I've only heard about it just now, but I don't feel like it's suited to me. I'm a commander, but at heart, I'm still a spirit tamer. War is something I can do, but it isn't everything I want to be responsible for. It's just a small part of my abilities, and if I had a choice, I'd rather have my summons live peacefully instead of constantly being involved in battles."
Isaac nodded after hearing her explanation. He had expected Emily's answer already, and he did not intend to force something like a System onto someone who did not feel that it suited them.
He then turned toward Alice. "You heard her. Besides, you like fighting, you're a dragon, you're a Saintess, and you're also a Conqueror, so I'd say a Warforged System is much more suited to you."
Alice considered his words for a moment before eventually nodding. "In that case, I'll take it."
Isaac raised his hand toward her, and Alice reached out and shook it. His wives were already familiar with the fact that he could transfer items and share them for himself, so none of them found the process particularly strange anymore.
The moment their hands touched, Isaac transferred the ticket to Alice. A faint system notification seemed to have appeared in front of her, as Alice immediately focused on it as she attempted to use the ticket.
However, her expression soon changed.
Isaac immediately noticed the difference. "Is there a problem?"
Alice frowned slightly before looking at him. "What is your boon?"
"What?" Isaac stared at her in confusion.
Alice's expression became even more confused when she saw the genuine surprise on his face. She clearly had not expected him to react that way, especially since she had assumed he already knew what she was talking about.
"When I tried to use the ticket, a message appeared. It said that items above Divine Rank cannot be used in our Sector because of a certain protocol, but then another message appeared saying that Isaac's Boon takes precedence over the protocol and allows me to use the item," she explained.
The moment Alice finished speaking, everyone turned toward Isaac, clearly expecting him to have an explanation for something that even he had never heard of. Isaac raised both hands in surrender.
"I honestly have no idea about this either," Isaac admitted. "I can guess what the World System means when it refers to my Boon, and it's probably exactly what you guys are thinking, but as for why I have it or how it can take precedence over the World System, I have absolutely no idea."
Alice and Emily nodded as they listened, clearly thinking about his words. They already knew that there were many things about Isaac's abilities that he had not explained, so they could tell that must be his 'boon.'
Celia, however, seemed much more interested in another matter. "So, your ability to obtain our skills, levels, and elements must be your Boon, right? Judging by how much you seem to know about personal Systems, it might be something like a Harem Lord System or something similar."
"It isn't Harem Lord," Isaac interrupted immediately.
Celia's ears stood straight, and her eyes brightened with curiosity.
"Then what is it?" she asked, trying to get the answer out of him.
Isaac looked at her for a moment before a mischievous smile appeared on his face. "Do you really want to know?"
Celia nodded quickly, clearly expecting him to finally give her an answer.
"Heh." Isaac merely scoffed and looked away, making it obvious that he had no intention of answering her after deliberately getting her interested.
Celia stared at him for a few seconds before realizing that he had been playing with her curiosity. She immediately became annoyed and leaned forward to bite his neck, while Isaac shouted in surprise and tried to pull her away.
…
Alice POV
"Stop biting me! That actually hurts! Hey, did you train in evolved Aura for these stupids— Ow, ow!"
Celia ignored him completely and continued clinging to him, her legs wrapped around his waist while Isaac tried to pry her away.
Alice watched the two of them for a moment and could only shake her head because she knew that Isaac could easily remove Celia if he genuinely wanted to.
The fact that he was not doing so made the entire situation even more ridiculous. Alice could not understand how the same man who might've been nearly fatally injured fighting the Seventh Queen could spend the next day arguing with Celia like a child.
"They really are like children," Alice said with a sigh. "I can't believe I was crying over this guy yesterday, and now he's acting like this."
Emily smiled as she watched them. "But isn't this one of the reasons we love Isaac? He always treats us the way we want him to, even when we might be annoying."
Alice had been about to make a remark, but the words stopped before they could leave her mouth.
The memories she had regained had changed many things inside her. It had become much harder for Alice to maintain the strict attitude she sometimes used with Isaac.
She wanted to spoil him, protect him, and sometimes even lock him away somewhere safe so that he could never put his life in danger again. Those feelings had existed inside her from the beginning, but knowing what had happened in the previous cycle had made them much stronger and easier for her to understand.
Alice also understood why she had once tied her life to Isaac's. Her emotions from the previous cycle had pushed her toward making such a decision because she had been afraid that Isaac would eventually do something reckless and put his life at risk.
By binding her life to his, she had created a situation where Isaac could never casually throw his life away without risking hers as well. She knew that Isaac would never willingly allow her to suffer because of something he had done, and that gave her a way to keep him from acting recklessly.
Thinking about how much Isaac cared about her made Alice's heart feel warm. It would have been a touching moment if Isaac and Celia had not still been fighting beside her like two children who had completely forgotten that everyone else was watching them.
Alice shook her head and decided to ignore them for the moment. Her attention instead shifted toward the system screen floating in front of her, where the progress of the Warforged System was continuing.
[Warforged System binding… 90%...]
The number continued to rise without Alice doing anything. A few moments later, another notification appeared as the process continued.
[95%...]
Alice quietly watched the progress until the final notification appeared.
[100%.
