Determined to help her mother, little Ruanruan spends the morning in the kitchen preparing rice balls for her brothers. The siblings soon engage in a playful rivalry over the lopsided creations, while their father Zhai Yunsheng firmly claims the portions made by Jian Yiling for himself. After sending the boys off to school, the Zhai family heads to the hospital where Ruanruan is greeted with overwhelming affection by the staff.

Liu Ting was quite an eccentric fellow. Whenever his gaze fell upon Little Ruanruan, he couldn't help but salivate.

Witnessing this, Wen Yan swiftly yanked Liu Ting away and demanded: “What do you think you’re doing? Stop looking at my niece with that bizarre expression.”

Ever since he made a full recovery, Wen Yan had been a frequent visitor to Lahaisen Hospital, and over time, a strong friendship blossomed between him and Liu Ting.

“A bizarre expression? When have I ever done such a thing? Little Yanyan, are you truly feeling jealous?” Liu Ting countered.

“Jealous? What could I possibly be jealous of? Have you lost your mind or are you unwell?”

“Jealous that your lovely niece is stealing all the attention that belongs to me,” Liu Ting answered with a brazen grin.

“You are undoubtedly suffering from a mental ailment!” Wen Yan retorted, rolling his eyes.

“Calm down, don’t be so hot-headed. Little Ruanruan is simply adorable. Since you two share a blood bond, my compliments to her are technically directed at you as well,” Liu Ting chuckled.

“Get lost!” Wen Yan snapped, clutching Little Ruanruan tightly in his arms with a look of pure disdain.

Faced with this cold rejection, Liu Ting turned toward Jian Yiling to vent. “Dean, your cousin is acting hostile toward me again. If he continues to frown like that, he’ll age prematurely.”

Jian Yiling was well-accustomed to their antics. She calmly instructed: “Liu Ting, stop picking on Brother Wen Yan.”

It was a mystery why, after pestering Wen Yan for so many years, Liu Ting had yet to grow bored of it, especially since he knew full well how easily the man was riled up.

“I am not teasing him,” Liu Ting replied defensively. “As his former physician, I am merely concerned about the holistic health of my patient.”

“Uncle! No angry!” Little Ruanruan chirped, patting Wen Yan’s chest in a bid to soothe him.

“Mhmm, I won’t be angry anymore,” Wen Yan promised. After such a sweet act of comfort from his niece, how could he possibly remain upset?

Observing this, Liu Ting scoffed: “Little Yanyan, what is the meaning of this sudden change in temperament?”

“Tch.”

“Uncle! No arguing!” Little Ruanruan commanded, waving a tiny hand to halt the conflict.

Her order was aimed squarely at Liu Ting.

Because she was only two years old, Little Ruanruan struggled to tell her many uncles apart.

Consequently, she addressed almost everyone as uncle, with the exception of Jian Yunmo and Zhai Yunfeng.

Recalling names was not her strong suit, especially with the already taxing task of remembering all the brothers across the Jian and Zhai families.

At that exact moment, Luo Xiuen entered and shot a glare at the group hovering around the child. She barked: “Back to your respective duties! Don't distract our Little Ruanruan.”

Without further ado, she whisked the little girl away from Wen Yan’s arms.

Luo Xiuen then settled her onto a cushioned spot in a corner of the laboratory.

This designated area was where Little Ruanruan spent most of her time.

Researchers passing by would frequently stop to look after her and play for a while.

Although they were supposedly assisting Jian Yiling with childcare, Little Ruanruan had eventually become the primary motivation for everyone to arrive at work.

She served as a source of morale and joy for the entire staff.

Furthermore, the researchers were all competing to introduce her to their own fields of study.

They hoped to foster an interest in their work from a tender age.

After all, they were eager for Little Ruanruan to eventually follow in their footsteps!

Little Ruanruan was quite distinct from her peers; while other children favored fairy tales, she delighted in hearing her uncles and aunts recount the history of scientific progress.

It appeared that Jian Yiling’s genetic influence was quite dominant. Little Ruanruan had inherited her mother’s sharp intellect, possessing a brilliant mind even as a toddler.
