1458 Extra: Little Ruanruan (5)
“Eldest brother! I want to hold Ruanruan too! I want to hold her!” Zhai Yuting shouted while stomping his feet on the ground in impatience.
“But you are still too little. You won’t be able to carry her properly,” Zhai Yuze explained to his brother with great patience.
“Wa...”
“How about you give your sister a kiss then?” Zhai Yuze compromised, lowering himself so that Zhai Yuting could reach Little Ruanruan.
“Mwah,” Zhai Yuting planted a kiss on Little Ruanruan’s cheek.
Little Ruanruan took the initiative to return the kiss, pressing her lips against her second brother’s cheek.
Upon receiving that affection, Zhai Yuting beamed from ear to ear.
Right then, the rest of Zhai Ruanruan’s brothers began clamoring for kisses as well.
“Ruanruan, kiss me too,” Jian Dan requested, maneuvering his way to the very front.
“Me! Me too!” Zhai Yunfeng chimed in. As her uncle, he refused to be left out of the action.
The remaining brothers and cousins quickly crowded around her.
Observing the scene, Master Zhai chided: “Shoo, shoo! Give the child some space! You lot are going to frighten Ruanruan!”
Initially, Master Zhai had been indifferent to whether his great-grandchildren were boys or girls. However, after the arrival of three great-grandsons in a row, he began to yearn for a great-granddaughter. After all, rarity makes things precious.
Since Zhai Ruanruan was the only great-granddaughter within both the Zhai and Jian families, it was only natural that the entire clan cherished her dearly.
Consequently, standing above everyone else in the family, Zhai Ruanruan undoubtedly held the most significant place in Master Zhai’s heart.
He finally grasped why Grandpa Jian had always valued Jian Yiling more than the Jian brothers.
Furthermore, he vowed that if any man dared to court Ruanruan in the future, he would personally ensure they regretted even approaching her!
Though he might not survive to see that day, the very thought filled him with fierce indignation.
“Great-grandfather Zhai, don’t be so mean,” Little Ruanruan murmured, her small face bearing a serious expression.
“I am not being mean. I simply believe they are being far too noisy.”
Little Ruanruan shook her head firmly and stated, “They are not noisy.”
Despite her young age, Zhai Ruanruan was already fiercely protective of her relatives and refused to let anyone disparage her brothers.
“Oh... Of course. You are right, they are not noisy at all,” Master Zhai hurriedly backtracked.
Ruanruan was always correct. He had no intention of upsetting her.
“Yuze, why don’t you let me hold Ruanruan for a while?” Master Zhai offered with a warm smile.
“Great-grandfather Zhai, I am not tired. The weights Father makes me lift are much heavier than Little Ruanruan.”
At this response, Master Zhai thought to himself: Who cares if you are tired? I just want to hold Little Ruanruan while I still have the chance!
Ruanruan rested her head snugly in Zhai Yuze’s arms, showing no desire to move elsewhere.
With no other choice, Master Zhai had to concede.
Zhai Ruanruan’s brothers continued to swarm around her.
Among them, Luo Xiuen’s sons were easily the most boisterous. Although Jian Dan was the eldest, he possessed a cheekier and more mischievous personality compared to Zhai Yuze.
Watching her sons, Luo Xiuen let out a soft sigh: “I can see why Ruanruan is so quiet and sweet. But why are your sons so well-behaved as well?”
All of Jian Yiling’s children were docile and calm. They rarely kicked up a fuss, saving Jian Yiling from much trouble.
Naturally, Luo Xiuen couldn't help but feel a twinge of envy toward Jian Yiling.
Her own sons, meanwhile, were a constant source of headaches.
“Umm... Sister-in-law... children often inherit their traits from their parents...” Jian Yujie offered weakly.
Ignoring his logic, Luo Xiuen lamented: “But I want a Ruanruan of my own!”
Ah... Why was she fated to never have a baby girl in this lifetime?
