Zhou Ping's mother inadvertently revealed his feelings for Mo Yaoyao, leading to an impromptu confession. Mo Yaoyao, overwhelmed by the Zhou family's kindness and her past trauma of losing a home, confessed her own feelings for Zhou Ping through tears. Zhou Ping comforted her, and his parents were relieved she finally opened up.

Mr. Zhou observed, a sense of unease settling in, as he continually nodded. “It’s good to get it out, indeed, good to let it all out.”

Although Mo Yaoyao already knew of his affections and he was aware of her feelings too, Zhou Ping still took the time to meticulously craft a confession. This special moment occurred on New Year's Day, situated in the villa's rooftop garden, beneath a sky illuminated by fireworks. While it was merely a confession and not a wedding ceremony, Zhou Ping nonetheless extended invitations to his closest friends, including Jiang Yue and Xue Yan, to serve as witnesses.

Having experienced a significant emotional release, Mo Yaoyao, though still inclined to be quiet and speak softly, displayed a considerably more optimistic outlook.

She also began to proactively engage in heartfelt conversations with Mrs. Zhou, Mr. Zhou, and Ms. Zhou.

Zhou Ping had set his sights on marrying Mo Yaoyao soon after she completed her university education. Mo Yaoyao raised no objections, and neither did Mr. or Mrs. Zhou – in fact, their happiness seemed to exceed that of the couple themselves.

Throughout her university tenure, Mo Yaoyao delved deeply into the disciplines of mathematics and physics. She applied her extensive knowledge to refine numerous scientific instruments, enhancing their sensitivity and precision. Unsurprisingly, these improved instruments were first allocated to the research center spearheaded by Jiang Yue, and also to the hospital where Xue Yan practiced his profession.

Even before she officially graduated, Mo Yaoyao had amassed a considerable collection of prestigious accolades, matching the brilliance of her senior year graduation ceremony, which she shared with Xue Yan, Jiang Yue, and Song Yun – all eminent students in the sciences.

Immediately following her graduation, precisely as planned, Zhou Ping and Mo Yaoyao exchanged their wedding vows.

Jiang Yue, Xue Yan, Yao Xi, Chen Sheng, Xu Yi, Song Yun, Yu Zi, and Si Yan – all these cherished friends were, of course, present to celebrate their union.

During the reception, Zhou Ping playfully queried Jiang Yue and Xue Yan, “Now that I’m married, when do you two plan on starting a family?”

His two friends, despite being married for many years, had yet to embark on the path of parenthood.

Xue Yan chuckled and responded, “We never really planned for it; we simply haven't had the time. The research center is incredibly demanding, and we can’t afford to be absent from Yue Bao’s side.”

This was a long-standing commitment between Xue Yan and Jiang Yue: they intended to forgo having children, dedicating their lives instead to making significant contributions to society.

In recent years, Jiang Yue had successfully led her research center in achieving complete cures for three prevalent forms of cancer, thereby saving innumerable lives, with ambitions to conquer more diseases.

Mr. Xue harbored no objections to their decision to remain childless.

Three years prior, Mr. Xue had entered into a second marriage with a woman who brought an eighteen-year-old son into their union. Following her marriage to Mr. Xue, despite her age, she successfully conceived and gave birth to another son for Mr. Xue just two years ago. Consequently, Mr. Xue was now thoroughly occupied with the demands of caring for the teenager and the two-year-old, leaving him little time to concern himself with whether Xue Yan and Jiang Yue chose to have children.

Furthermore, considering the close bond between the older son and the young child with Xue Yan and Jiang Yue, Mr. Xue felt assured that even after his departure, the boys would look after Xue Yan and Jiang Yue diligently. Therefore, he was perfectly content with their choice not to have children.

Upon hearing Xue Yan’s explanation, Zhou Ping promptly raised his wine glass in a toast to Xue Yan and Jiang Yue.

Following their attendance at the wedding, neither Xue Yan nor Jiang Yue made haste to return home, as urgent phone calls summoned one to the hospital and the other to the research center, requiring their immediate attention.

After addressing their respective emergencies, Xue Yan and Jiang Yue finally arrived home at three in the morning.

Their residence was an apartment located off-site, chosen for its convenient proximity to both of their places of work.

As soon as Xue Yan stepped through the door, he retrieved a bag of frozen dumplings from the refrigerator, set water to boil, and began the cooking process. Meanwhile, Jiang Yue took a seat on a high stool just outside the open kitchen, resting her chin in one hand. The corners of her mouth were curved upwards in a subtly contented expression as she observed her husband preparing their meal.

This had evolved into their established routine over the passage of years.

Simple, yet profoundly fulfilling.

“Are you hungry? Let’s eat.” As soon as the dumplings were cooked, Xue Yan served her a bowl first.

Jiang Yue, delicately holding her chopsticks, suddenly declared, “I love you.”

Her Yue Bao remained as candid and direct as ever. Xue Yan’s lips curled upwards as he gazed at his Yue Bao, his voice gentle and warm, “I love you too.”
