It was noon in the Jiang household of Willow Village, and the entire family was found kneeling on the floor. They all seemed to be writhing in pain, yet not a single sound escaped their lips. Before them stood a baby girl.
The infant appeared to be around three or four years old. Her clothing was disheveled, but the skin visible was fair and tender. Her face, in particular, possessed a delicate beauty that even the wealthiest might struggle to achieve for their child.
“Stamp it,” the girl’s soft yet chilling voice commanded. Instantly, she tossed a piece of paper before the assembled group.
The kneeling figures scrambled forward with haste, vying to retrieve the document, fearful of being too slow. Each pressed their fingerprints onto the paper.
Then, they all returned to their obedient kneeling posture.
Only Jiang, the sturdy farmer positioned at the front, retrieved the paper and presented it to the girl. He avoided eye contact, terrified of any misstep.
The girl appeared unfazed. She accepted the paper with one hand, cast an indifferent glance at it, then folded it and tucked it into her embrace.
“Alright, I, Jiang Yue, am now completely severed from all of you. Let’s go,” Jiang Yue declared. She snatched the small bag from the table and leaped off the long bench.
Those still kneeling trembled as she departed, as if they had witnessed a specter.
Jiang Yue paid their fear no mind. With the contract of disownment finalized, it was time for her to depart. She had no desire to linger in this place for another moment.
Jiang Yue halted her steps and gazed upward.
......
In the expansive paddy field, the rice stalks had grown taller than her, casting a vibrant green hue across the entire expanse. At the field’s edge, a range of mountains stretched into the distance. Adjacent to it, a long, meandering stream flowed, replete with abundant life.
Compared to the post-apocalyptic world, reduced to ruins by zombies, she found this place rather enjoyable.
Of course, it would be even better if she were an adult and not a mere three-year-old child… Jiang Yue let out a silent sigh.
She had transmigrated here just last night. As the supreme commander of Area A, she had led her people to eradicate all zombies. In the end, before she could even begin rebuilding their home, she succumbed to exhaustion and found herself in an unidentifiable ancient era. The most unfortunate aspect was her current state: a little girl.
This little girl’s name was Jiang Yue. As the sole child in her family, she had been doted upon. Regrettably, these halcyon days were short-lived. Her host’s father tragically drowned when she was merely one year old. Just half a month prior, her host’s mother had also passed away.
However, before her death, the girl’s mother had entrusted her daughter to her only remaining relative, someone named Jiang.
The mother’s demise was attributed to poor health. She had consumed numerous medications before her passing, but her condition failed to improve, depleting all their savings. Jiang was unwilling to care for the original owner without receiving anything in return.
Yet, his true motive was to sell the little girl for money in the future.
