“They… they’re coming again!”
Hearing the dense rumbling that sounded like a death knell, the Half-Titan soldiers, unable to wipe away their sweat and blood in time, tightly clutched their Giant Shields and axes, unwilling to show the slightest negligence.
Vast beads of sweat rolled down the foreheads of these Half-Giant soldiers, quickly mixing with the scorched blood that coated their faces.
The immense pressure rapidly approaching caused everyone present to break out in a cold sweat, yet the formation showed no signs of faltering.
Since the Blank Era, the Half-Titans have been in conflict with the Stone Giants up to this very day. Although recent years have seen fewer skirmishes due to the Broken Wing King’s relentless pillaging, the Half-Titans' combat prowess still surpasses ordinary Second-tier Powers.
“The soldiers’ breathing is starting to become erratic, something I’ve never witnessed before.”
Standing shoulder to shoulder with the most elite Half-Titan soldiers on the front lines, Bisos’s stern visage betrayed a hint of apprehension and seriousness.
As one of the most seasoned Army Commanders among the Half-Titans, he had led countless battles against the Stone Giants, achieving glorious victories. Yet, he had never encountered such a formidable adversary.
The soldiers’ breathing began to falter, not solely from exhaustion and tension, but also from a growing sense of dread within.
At this juncture, even the most common Half-Titan soldiers could perceive the rapidly deteriorating morale of their camp, with the exception of the routed Leopard-men in the valley, leaving other allies barely holding their ground.
Conversely, the Broken Wing Army appeared unstoppable, with reinforcements continuously emerging from their capital, their morale soaring to the heavens.
Though the battlefield atmosphere was utterly chaotic, the patrolling Half-Titan soldiers could still easily discern the subtle shifts in momentum.
Keep in mind, they are confronting the elite Royal Army Corps under the command of the Broken Wing King. Those individuals, with blood-soaked hands, had once left the corpses of the Frost Fire Giants, Moon Shadow Deer People, and other powers scattered, reducing fallen cities to fiery infernos.
“Everyone, the valiant struggle Your Majesty of the Humans is waging against the forces of the Broken Wing King and his lackeys gives us no justification to falter until the very end!”
Bisos’s commanding voice echoed, boldly rallying the surrounding Half-Titan generals: “We carry the Titan bloodline within us; ignite the fear in your hearts, transforming it into a ferocious flame that consumes the enemy!”
Fueled by Bisos’s powerful exhortation, the entire Half-Titan camp’s morale surged. The generals let out guttural roars, crouched low, gripping their weapons and shields, every muscle tensed.
Born for combat, the opponent’s heavy iron hooves and sharp spear tips only served to bolster their courage!
Instantly, a dense volley of arrows and magical radiance erupted from the Half-Titan battle formation, sweeping towards the rapidly advancing Broken Wing Clan cavalry.
“I’ve long stated that you are all merely thick-skulled insects attempting to halt a chariot!”
The opposing cavalry commander sneered, and around him, a robust magical barrier materialized once more, remaining utterly unscathed, just as it did for the other enemy cavalry.
Observing this spectacle, Bisos’s brow furrowed deeply.
The barriers employed by the Broken Wing Clan cavalry far surpassed typical energy shields, rendering them virtually impervious to certain ranged assaults. However, their close-quarters physical defense was limited, frequently crumbling easily. Otherwise, some adversaries wouldn't have been cut down in close combat moments ago.
Yet, their effective defense against long-range attacks nullifies the cavalry’s most significant vulnerability, explaining their rampant arrogance. In essence, despite the chevaux-de-frise impeding their velocity, the enemy still possessed formidable impact force, poised to deliver another crushing blow, compelling their side to clench their teeth and endure.
“Slay these ants and swiftly go to my king’s aid!”
With a defiant cry from the enemy cavalry commander, their steel torrent-like charging formation was already nearing the chevaux-de-frise defense line.
As they drew closer, and the enemy cavalry began to whoop with savage glee, preparing to surge forward, they abruptly sensed their massive terrain dragons halting their advance, as if they had become mired in quicksand.
This abrupt cessation caught some unsuspecting enemy cavalry off guard, causing them to lose their footing, tumble from their mounts, and impale themselves on the chevaux-de-frise blades ahead, instantly creating a spray of blood.
“What is happening?”
Stunned, the enemy cavalry commander tightened his reins to maintain balance, casting his gaze downward towards the ground.
Indeed, the ground, once firm and smooth, had transformed into exceedingly viscous mud, resembling a swamp.
This unforeseen development caught the enemy cavalry completely by surprise; even Bisos was astonished and perplexed, bracing himself for another assault.
“Half-Titan General, this is hardly the moment for you to be lost in thought.”
A gruff tone broke the silence, and a figure materialized next to Bisos. Turning to face the source of the sound, the newcomer was revealed to be another Half-Giant. However, this one diverged from Bisos and the other Half-Titans, whose skin shimmered with a bronze hue; this individual sported a rough, gray complexion, akin to the surface of an immense boulder.
