“Does not any one of you possess a solution?”
Terry, consumed by helpless anger, posed the question once more, his expression clouded.
Hearing his words, the Deer Elders remained in silence, each offering no response.
If any viable plan existed, it would surely have been presented already. However, the stark reality was that the Moon Shadow Deer People had unwittingly stumbled into a perilous trap.
“Disperse for now. Should no solution be unearthed by tomorrow, I shall hold each of you responsible!”
Overwhelmed, Terry emitted a cold snort before rising from his seat and departing.
As this scene faded, another materialized within the mind of the Deer Clan Leader.
“Clan Leader, are you truly resolute in this decision?”
Within the dark confines of the Barrier Area, the very heart of the Moon Shadow Magic Array, the Deer Elders stood behind Terry, their demeanor fraught with unease as they questioned him.
“What alternative remains? Only by revisiting the memories of our once-flourishing past can we muster the resolve to surmount this dire crisis!”
Terry, his hands clasped behind his back, addressed them from a lofty platform, his voice firm with determination. “This represents our sole recourse!”
“But the Moon Shadow Magic Array is our sacred defensive formation, our ultimate safeguard against adversaries in times of grave peril. How can it possibly be invoked for our own people?”
The Grand Elder stepped forward, his aged countenance etched with profound apprehension.
“Does any among you possess a superior strategy?”
Terry let out another cold snort, his expression hardening.
“This…”
The Elders exchanged glances, momentarily rendered speechless.
“Or perhaps, you intend to challenge the Clan Leader’s decree?”
Terry’s formidable antlers gleamed sharply as he reiterated his question.
“…We would not dare.”
The Grand Elder sighed, conceding defeat and resigning himself to follow the orders.
Shortly thereafter, under Terry’s explicit command, he and the Deer Elders encircled the elevated platform, commencing a synchronized chant.
As their chanting intensified, the previously dim and lifeless platform became bathed in a rapidly glowing pale golden luminescence, soon coalescing into two pale golden discs, one grand and one smaller, reminiscent of two immense, radiant full moons suspended in the heavens.
Once the intricate formation was successfully established, the assembly departed the Barrier Area, their hearts heavy with apprehension. Witnessing the transformation of the formerly desolate Reception Hall into a scene of breathtaking splendor, both Terry and the Deer Elders were overcome with a sense of profound elation.
Faintly, they even perceived the long-absent, alluring fragrance of the Starfall Sect, a scent emanating exclusively from rare and exotic ingredients utilized in the preparation of the most exquisite haute cuisine!
Despite their awareness that this was merely an illusion conjured by the Moon Shadow Magic Array, and the harsh reality of consuming coarse bread, they found themselves involuntarily salivating, their throats working as they swallowed.
“Dispatch immediate instructions to organize a grand banquet everywhere!”
Terry gestured expansively, setting the wheels in motion with the assistance of the Deer Elders.
Yet, at that precise juncture, no one observed the core of the Moon Shadow Magic Array, which had been radiating brilliance, suddenly flicker with a scarlet hue before rapidly vanishing.
Subsequently, a third scene unfolded.
“Esteemed everyone, while all of this is naught but the magnificent spectacle bestowed upon us by the Moon Shadow Magic Array, the Clan Leader firmly believes that through our collective efforts, we shall undoubtedly recapture our former glory and splendor!”
Within the opulent and lavish Banquet Hall, surrounded by an array of delectable culinary masterpieces, Terry raised a goblet, swaying unsteadily with intoxication. “Everyone, please join your Clan Leader in raising your glasses! May our Moon Shadow Deer People achieve enduring prosperity!”
“May our Moon Shadow Deer People achieve enduring prosperity!”
The Deer People echoed his sentiment, lifting their goblets in unison.
After three rounds of spirited drinking, the Grand Elder approached Terry, gently reminding him, “Clan Leader, the banquet has now extended for the entire day. As per our agreed-upon plan, it is time we conclude these proceedings.”
“Everyone is reveling in the moment; why mar this joyous occasion?”
Terry let out a burp, casting a glance at the Grand Elder. “If we do not allow everyone to find contentment here, how can they possibly regain their spirits in the face of actual hardship?”
Upon hearing this, the Grand Elder could only offer a resigned sigh, shaking his head as he picked up a plate laden with the aromatic dishes of the Starfall Sect.
After a considerable passage of time, continuing until Terry could scarcely remain upright, the Grand Elder approached him once more, his voice a gentle reminder, “Clan Leader, is it not time now?”
“Indeed, it is time. As the primary orchestrator of this enchantment, I can readily dissolve this Barrier.”
Terry carefully set down his goblet, nodding vaguely as two attendants offered their support, guiding him toward the Reception Hall. “Let us bring this illusory dream to its conclusion.”
However, just as the group reached the halfway point, the resplendent core of the Moon Shadow Magic Array pulsed once more with a scarlet glow, unleashing a captivating wave of energy.
Wherever this energy wave extended its influence, Terry and his companions involuntarily shuddered, their faces contorting into expressions of bewildered confusion.
“Clan Leader, what were we about to undertake?”
After a brief pause, the Grand Elder, who had been walking ahead, turned his head, his gaze unfocused and his aged face etched with profound disorientation.
“We, the Moon Shadow Deer People, stand as a formidable force amongst the second-tier powers—prosperous, mighty, and utterly free from any concern for sustenance or shelter. What other endeavors could possibly remain for us?”
Terry let out another burp and waved his hand with a grand laugh, gesturing for everyone to return to the banquet. “Of course, let’s head back for more of the Starfall Sect’s feast!”
“Indeed, indeed! I can hardly wait to taste another dish from the Starfall Sect!” The Elders chimed in, quickly turning back towards the Banquet Hall.
“Clan Leader, Grand Elder, please wake up!” A clear female voice suddenly cut through the air, urgent and insistent. “You must quickly break the Moon Shadow Magic Array, or it will be too late!”
From the direction of the voice, a slender young Deer Person with faded, broken horns materialized, only to be completely obscured by the formation. It was, of course, Rosa.
“Hmm? Did anyone else hear something just now?” Terry asked, tilting his head slightly, but seeing nothing, he questioned the others.
“I heard the delightful sizzle of Starfall being served! We must hurry back; I cannot possibly wait any longer!” The Grand Elder did not even pause, merely wiping a trace of drool from the corner of his mouth.
“How can all of you be ensnared by this? Wake up!” Rosa watched helplessly as Terry and his companions turned away, preparing to step in when a hostile Corrector suddenly appeared beside her, launching a fierce assault.
Aware of the immediate danger, Rosa could only clench her teeth and flee, leaving behind a disheveled and frail silhouette vanishing at the corridor’s end.
As these images flickered through Terry’s mind, he suddenly threw off the supporting arms of the guards who had helped him up, overwhelmed by shock and profound regret.
He now understood that as the Caster, he had been completely lost within a fabricated dream, reveling in its illusions until this very moment.
“What is the current time? How long has the Moon Shadow Magic Array held us captive?” Terry demanded loudly, but no reply came. All present had just awakened from the illusory realm, just like him.
Abruptly, other Deer People, some retching, others dazed, began to stir and exchange bewildered glances. Everyone recognized that remaining immersed in the dream meant facing a single, inevitable end—a slow drowning, evidenced by their weakened bodies and muddled thoughts.
“Speaking of which, how was the Moon Shadow Magic Array dispelled? Whoever accomplished this is a true savior to our Moon Shadow Deer People!” Amidst Terry and the others’ confusion, Leo Ray and his retinue emerged at the entrance to the Banquet Hall.
“The Emperor of the Human Clan?” The Grand Elder clearly hadn't forgotten Leo Ray, exclaiming, “Was it you who rescued our Moon Shadow Deer People?”
Upon hearing this, the other Deer People also turned their gazes, their faces alight with overwhelming gratitude.
