“Has the whole Giant City vanished entirely?”
In the depths of the vacant subterranean chamber, Moli standing next to Leo Ray witnessed this astonishing scene too, her star-filled eyes widening as she cried out, “This can't be real!”
Likewise, the other powerful individuals arriving successively were stunned beyond belief, refusing to trust what their eyes showed them.
The enormous city that loomed like a colossus across the expansive region had disappeared completely, leaving no sign behind.
“Might the Observation City have been utterly demolished by ‘Corrosion’?”
Supported by a worn-out Tier 4 alchemy puppet, Broy spoke with a quiver in his voice.
“Destruction or not, remnants of walls ought to linger; why isn't a lone brick in sight?”
Moli wiped at her sparkling eyes, kept scanning the area, and remarked, “It feels just like the whole Giant City got shifted elsewhere.”
“No signs of illusion spells anywhere; is it feasible that the Giant City was truly transported away?”
Gazing upon the barren underground expanse, the Elf Tribe's Elusa showed shock as well and inquired, “Lady Moli, is such a feat achievable?”
“Prior to joining you and arriving via teleportation, I'd deem this utterly inconceivable in my perspective.”
Despite Elusa being a Dark Elf, Moli spoke freely to her young ally and sighed, “Yet since arriving alongside your Lord, even gods long estranged from the Ten Thousand Clans have surfaced; what impossibility remains?”
Hearing Moli's statement, Leo Ray's brows knitted deeper.
Her point held merit; this scenario couldn't be dismissed outright. Beyond the system prompt's capabilities, certain Lords possessing city-relocation talents might accomplish it too.
However, the present circumstances eliminate that option entirely.
“Examine it carefully; battles with ‘Corrosion’ leave no remnants here, not a hint of burn scars.”
Leo Ray's grave tone echoed, urging, “Should the Observation City have truly been relocated, what became of the prior combat scars?”
Upon this revelation, Moli and Elusa, having inspected the polished floor nearby, grasped the implication.
As Leo Ray noted, supposing the city vanished through teleportation, the fight remnants remain unaccounted for.
Recall that beyond our recent arrival, earlier groups of heroes had fended off two assaults from ‘Corrosion’.
Without doubt, following relentless barrages from ‘Corrosion’s vast forces, Observation City's perimeter should brim with magical blast imprints. Why does everything appear pristine?
Assuming the city was genuinely moved, the assault scars must have gone somewhere.
“Reporting to Your Majesty, beyond this zone, surrounding spots where the city once lay show no battle indicators, no structural bases or leftover utilities such as sewers.”
After scouting the surroundings with his group, the Grey Elder approached, bowed to Leo Ray, and added, “Precisely stated, the terrain here is flawlessly even, devoid of any impressions.”
“Eh? Teleportation aside, some indicators should persist.”
Moli combed through her messy tresses, her expression twisted in frantic bewilderment, as she muttered, “What's truly happening here?”
Encircling Moli, the remaining powerhouses creased their foreheads, displaying bewilderment.
Undeniably, everything feels profoundly odd, as though Observation City was never present at all.
“Evidently, just one conclusion fits: Observation City was never situated here.”
Leo Ray's words resounded, audible to all present.
“Young human, explain yourself! How could Observation City never have been?”
Moli twisted her locks into a bird's nest-like mess and questioned, her features etched with bafflement, “What about the Giant City we occupied earlier? From where did we teleport into the Underground Fortress?”
“Not that Observation City lacked existence, but it never stood in this location.”
Leo Ray gave a subtle nod and clarified for the group, “Put differently, the authentic Observation City persists in its original spot, whereas our current position was never its site!”
“We've traversed the path from Underground Fortress to here multiple times without error; this absolutely must be Observation City's rightful place!”
Absorbing Leo Ray's intricate explanation, the already muddled Moli grew further disoriented and exclaimed, “In what way was it absent from here?”
To Moli's query, the other powerhouses directed confused looks toward Leo Ray, clearly grasping nothing.
“The Lord speaks truth; Observation City truly never occupied this spot.”
Perched on Leo Ray's shoulder, the petite Elf Sheila furrowed her brows deeply and stated, “To elaborate, this subterranean zone isn't the one we knew previously!”
“What?!”
Now, Elusa responded sharply, exclaiming, “If this proves an alien territory, does the Lord imply the fortress we exited moments ago differs from the one we recognize?”
“Exactly, that alien fortress we left and this underground void form elements of the enemy's ploy. We've misjudged ‘Corrosion’s cunning.”
