Everyone Is A Lord: My Talent Is A Little Too Strong Chapter 2739: 1504: Repelled and Restarted

As the vast Parasite Army and swarming "Corrosion" advanced on the city, their Magic Cannons unleashed a relentless barrage against the Absolute Defense Barrier, which held firm despite the onslaught. Leo Ray explained the strategic value of maintaining defenses at both the city and nearby fortress, leveraging shared Power of the Stars from Divine Stone Weapons to cover both without weakening their position. When the enemy raised a massive energy shield to protect their assaulting forces, Leo Ray directed Moli to open space rifts, redirecting the defenders' arrows and spells to rain down on the attackers from above, decimating ranks of "Corrosion" and Parasites and forcing a hasty retreat after three devastating waves.

Explosions from powerful magic boomed relentlessly across every side of Observation City, illuminating the shadowy battlefield with vivid flashes and drawing attention to the endless barrage of arrows streaking through the air.

Even though Leo Ray had pushed back the foe's assault, things looked far graver on the remaining city walls.

Sheltered by enormous energy barriers, numerous “Corrosion” entities and Parasites managed to get close to our Barrier Wall, their countless thin tentacles writhing strangely in the air as they desperately clawed at the wall.

Our defending troops and mighty warriors, backed by Divine Stone Weapons and Stone Spirits, kept driving off one assault after another.

Still, the adversaries showed no signs of letting up; they kept releasing waves of terror and hopelessness while pouring out from the depths below without end, like a never-ending horror that struck at the Barrier Wall and the defenders' spirits both physically and mentally.

Moments ticked by slowly, and over the entire day, the section under Leo's command stayed relatively calm, but the other three walls and the Underground Fortress seemed increasingly strained, with the Barrier Wall starting to fade noticeably.

In the midst of all this, as the other walls showed signs of faltering, Leo kept shuttling Moli and Sheila plus other Stone Spirits around to rally the troops there, yet he couldn't be everywhere at once and soon ran out of ways to help.

“If things continue like this, we might not last much longer.”

Cracks started to form subtly on the Barrier Wall overhead, causing Leo's forehead to crease even deeper.

Regardless of how solid his own defense was, it could only secure one out of the four walls.

If even one of the remaining three walls crumbled and then faced a mad onslaught from “Corrosion,” the Barrier Wall would break apart quickly, especially with the Underground Fortress in just as much danger.

Without this vital protection, our position would turn even more defensive, and if the Underground Fortress collapsed, letting the enemy merge their troops, the burden on us would skyrocket.

With these thoughts racing through his mind, a growing pressure gripped Leo as he scanned the city guard soldiers nearby.

Following a full day of holding the line, the top Tier 4 fighters were drained of their strength and had been pulled back, while Tier 3 soldiers had cycled through multiple shifts; when it came to battle strength and withstanding “Corrosion’s” mental assaults, they paled in comparison to the Tier 4 ones without question.

Against the vast “Corrosion” and Parasite forces crashing forward like tidal waves, plenty of the younger soldiers looked ashen, drenched in sweat, their grips on longbows and magic wands shaking badly, and some simply collapsed right there, only to be dragged off by rear-line soldiers and priests.

On top of that, Moli and our powerhouses were obviously running on fumes, their energy nearly spent despite relying on advanced magic potions and the best healing methods available.

“Space Path!”

Having unleashed another pair of space rifts to redirect their strikes once more, Moli brushed sweat off her pale forehead, showing none of her earlier enthusiasm and instead appearing utterly drained, her long brows sagging as she muttered, “Human boy, this is only the first day—won't the next two be the same?”

“I doubt it; the enemies have suffered heavy casualties too, so they probably can't keep up this furious pace forever.”

Despite his inner doubts, Leo forced a grin and replied, “Maybe outside reinforcements will show up any moment now.”

“I'm not stupid—you don't need to console me. The ‘Corrosion’ are incredibly sly; if that was true, they'd have pulled back already. Since they're still hammering the city, it means they're sure they can take it, and help from outside likely won't get here in time.”

Moli patted her empty belly, sighing in resignation, “By the way, I'm starving.”

“Weren't you just scarfing down a load of food from the priests?”

Leo gave a wry smile, skipping any debate, and as he swung his magic wand to hurl bolts of lightning down at the city, he turned his attention back to the fight.

After twenty-four hours of intense combat, the Parasites had rotated through several batches too, boasting way more than ten Tier 4 Legions—easily over twenty in total.

The “Corrosion” numbers remained vast, packed tightly and vanishing into the far reaches of the Underground Space.

However, thanks to the Parasites burning through their mana, the massive energy shield had shrunk since the beginning, meaning the attacks coming our way weren't quite as brutal as before.

Having watched the scene for some time and noting the foes weren't backing off, Leo sharpened his focus and dove back into the defense with full effort.

On this occasion, the hours dragged on unbearably, until Moli crammed her mouth full of honey bread and sandwiches for a quick bite, at which point the enemies at last started withdrawing, vanishing swiftly into the gloomy depths.

“Is it finally done?”

Not until the foes had fully retreated did Leo exhale deeply, easing his strained nerves at last.

The warriors around Leo mirrored his relief, with Moli slumping onto the ground, clutching half a strawberry cake, forgetting all about her spirit grace or her near-Tier 7 wisdom.
