Everyone Is A Lord: My Talent Is A Little Too Strong Chapter 2738: 1503: The Beginning of the Defense (Part 2)
As Old Book had mentioned, the forces included not just the floating “Corrosion” but also the Parasite Army lined up in perfect formation, extending without end into the distance.
Especially noticeable were the Parasites whose skins sprouted clusters of crystals, glowing with a sinister dark gleam amid the void of space, their blank faces marked by shadowy veins, and their vacant eyes darting aimlessly.
“The epic clash is on the verge of erupting.”
Standing next to Leo Ray, Moli gripped the Divine Revelation Staff, her face alight with battle hunger.
A flicker of uncertainty crossed Moli’s pale features as she whispered, “Young human, the foes’ presence is crushing, and their numbers dwarf anything we’ve faced. Why divide our troops to protect that other stronghold? Wouldn’t it be wiser to leave it and concentrate everyone here?”
“Under normal conditions, yes, that’s what we’d do. But remember, the two locations link through several massive Teleportation Arrays, enabling swift soldier transfers and hasty pullbacks to the alternate spot. In truth, it’s like they function as a single unit.”
Scrutinizing the action unfolding beneath the walls, Leo Ray replied, “Plus, the Power of the Stars from the Divine Stone Weapons doesn’t accumulate. What we have now suffices to blanket every City Wall here and at the fortress completely. Giving up one would waste the coverage, actually diminishing our overall might.”
“Ah, got it; and beyond that, it scatters the enemy’s troops, lightening the load from various fronts!”
Moli’s eyes sparkled like stars, a sudden realization dawning as she gave a firm nod.
“Spot on, you’ve grasped it quicker than I did.”
Leo Ray arched an eyebrow faintly, a grin playing on his lips, “So, our task is to stay steadfast amid the flux, enduring solidly for the coming three days.”
“That doesn’t seem too tough, right? I’m practically bursting with impatience!”
Moli pointed the Divine Stone Staff’s tip earthward, her demeanor radiating keen excitement.
Gazing at the refined, porcelain-like visage across from him, Leo Ray curbed his amusement, redirecting his attention to the oncoming threats.
Should these Parasites represent the enemy’s ultimate weapon, it’d be ideal; yet if hidden schemes linger, the peril would escalate into something far more treacherous and volatile.
While Leo Ray mulled over these notions, the disciplined Parasite Army rolled forward a barrage of Magic Cannons.
Deafening explosions reverberated from under the walls soon after, sending fierce ripples crashing across our Absolute Defense Barrier’s surface, presenting a truly awe-inspiring display.
At this sight, a wave of frustration washed over Leo Ray’s countenance.
These long-distance Magic Cannons outrange us, rendering retaliation futile.
Although we possess comparable Magic Cannons, they prove useless against the “Corrosion,” which shrugs off standard strikes.
“I asked the former City Lord about Magic Cannons once, discovering that while Divine Weapons are present, no Divine Stone variants exist, and the Power of the Stars won’t infuse inanimate objects, leaving us without any means to strike back right now.”
Grudgingly, Leo Ray’s eyes returned to the protective Barrier Wall enveloping the city.
Even under the barrage of fierce Magic Cannon blasts, the Barrier Wall shone brightly, though its glow had dulled a touch.
“Fortunately, this Absolute Defense Barrier weaves in Divine Domain Magic principles, boasting defenses leagues ahead of typical shields. Paired with the city’s array of Magic Towers and ample mana reserves, breaching the stronghold via this onslaught is out of the question, at least for now.”
“What’s more, the Parasites’ mana isn’t boundless and can’t fuel the Magic Cannons indefinitely. In this setup, they’re getting nowhere.”
“They’d need to keep feeding it top-tier mana crystals like Magic Energy Crystals, but per Old Book’s intel, they scorn such resources, and those crystals are incredibly scarce anyway, making prolonged bombardment unfeasible.”
Considering this, Leo Ray kept his composure intact.
Assuming his assessment held true, the adversaries ought to unveil their next tactic shortly.
True to form, moments later, the Parasite Army at the forefront surged onward once more, as the thick swarm of “Corrosion” fanned out along the flanks, their myriad tentacles flailing madly in the void, sending chills through the air.
“Lord Brave, the foes appear set for a full-frontal charge!”
The City Guard General beside Leo Ray pressed a fist to his heart in salute, declaring: “Based on their typical tactics, the core Parasite Legion will erect a colossal energy shield, nullifying our Divine Stone assaults and shielding the flanking ‘Corrosion’ as they close in on our City Walls!”
“No issue, stick to the strategy.”
Leo Ray’s face stayed impassive as he confirmed to the veteran City Guard General.
With that, a enormous gray energy shield materialized ahead of the enemy ranks, concealing the “Corrosion” on either side in its shadow.
Afterward, the opponents grew utterly bold. Sheltered by the massive energy shield, the shadowy horde of “Corrosion” surged forth like a plague of insects, hastening their approach.
“Commence.”
As the enemies crossed into our strike zone, Leo Ray signaled with a sweep of his arm, commanding the offensive without hesitation.
Immediately, our empowered fighters and City Guard, amplified by Divine Stone Weapons and Stone Spirits, unleashed their utmost fury. A blaze of brilliant spells streaked through the sky, intermingling with countless arrows, hurtling ferociously at the foes.
Confronted by our impressive barrage, the “Corrosion” huddled behind the colossal energy shield held their ground defiantly. Rather than falter, they accelerated their rush.
Owing to the shield’s immense span, even focused volleys of spells and arrows struggled to pierce through.
Normally, such an onslaught might fall short of breaking them; too bad they’re up against Leo Ray.
“Your Excellency, step into the spotlight.”
Right as the strikes neared the foe’s massive shield for deflection, Leo Ray gave Moli’s shoulder a light tap.
“On it!”
Poised and ready, Moli brandished Jasmine’s Magic Wand, summoning a vast space rift right in front of the enemy’s barrier, which swallowed up all our arrows and spells whole.
At the same moment, a matching space rift tore open directly over the enemies’ position, unleashing a deluge of assaults like a tempest onto their lines, whipping up explosive energy surges.
Caught in this surprise maelstrom, swarms of brazen “Corrosion” had no chance to respond before the magical blasts engulfed them or arrows riddled them, melting swiftly into repulsive slime pools.
In the ensuing pandemonium, numerous Parasites fell victim too, their bodies crumbling in disarray.
“Lord Brave, your power is unmatched!”
Watching Moli redirect our strikes via space rifts on Leo Ray’s cue, jubilation and roars swept across the entire City Wall.
The follow-up second and third volleys trailed right behind, also bent by Moli to crash down accurately on the enemy.
Thanks to the attacks’ sudden twist, despite the foes’ quick scramble to scatter and dodge the rift’s reach, vast numbers of “Corrosion” and Parasites met their end at our hands.
Post three volleys, the enemy stumbled back in retreat, their fierce drive evaporating in a flash.
The “Corrosion” beyond the rift’s span pressed on undaunted, launching a few more pushes, but each crumbled into retreat before nearing the Barrier Wall, slinking away defeated.
Beholding this thrilling victory, Leo Ray gave an approving nod.
We’d turned back the assault thanks in part to Moli’s space rifts, and equally to our growing mastery of Divine Stone Weapons against “Corrosion.”
For our side still new to battling “Corrosion,” these clashes offered priceless lessons.
“Curious how the other fronts are faring? Hope they’re holding their own without too much strain.”
As he directed operations with poise, Leo Ray reflected inwardly.
