Leo Ray gave a subtle nod and replied: “Maybe they've already spotted us, yet that doesn't guarantee they'll intervene, since this spot is distant from their domains.”
“Even with ample power at their disposal, provided it doesn't affect their gains or pose a direct risk to them, they'll naturally stay out of it.”
“The gods have departed ages ago; we're no longer in the Sun Era or the Silver Moon Era—nothing remains as it once was.”
Leo Ray offered a wry smile and went on: “If not, in this era where the Great Catastrophe hangs over us, those atop the Ten Thousand Clans who truly carried such duty would have dropped their grudges long since, rallied every faction to brace for the Catastrophe, rather than shielding only themselves and viewing the vulnerable as mere weights?”
After listening to Leo Ray's remarks, Loris and Sina both nodded their assent.
The Human Emperor speaks truly; the Ten Thousand Clans did once stride through a radiant age side by side, yet with the gods vanished and the enigmas of the Blankness Era lingering, all has transformed.
The whole realm appears cloaked in thick haze, poised to tumble into the void at any instant, though nobody grasps the real origin.
For an instant, the mood nearby turned profoundly heavy once more, with all quietly grieving inwardly.
“Friends, luckily, the opportunity to alter this persists, and that's precisely my ongoing pursuit.”
Leo Ray's resolute and commanding tone echoed once more, filling every listener's ears: “For now, we can press on united; hope endures within us, and while we stand firm here, clasping hands firmly, that hope shall never fade.”
Once Leo Ray finished speaking, the group nodded in unison, their resolve renewed.
Even Gary the veteran and the other Broken Valley Alliance experts directed gazes brimming with admiration. At first, they'd been covertly stunned to learn this youthful Human Emperor orchestrated everything, given the famed frailty of the Human Clan, which hadn't ventured into the Outer Region.
Yet at present, it appears the Human Clan has evolved beyond its former self, and this young Human Emperor rightfully holds the highest position among them all.
Guided by this Human Emperor, they might genuinely achieve vengeance, confronting the hidden demons and the Witch Demons that vanquished them before.
“Your Majesty, see—Frank has shattered a section of the Barrier!”
Moments later, Yonir's thrilled cry sounded, arriving at Leo Ray's ears: “We're able to depart this place at last!”
“Can't afford to wait; advance right away.”
At these words, Leo Ray inclined his head toward the trio of leaders, and promptly, led by veteran Gary and the Broken Valley Alliance's other experts, they hastened onward along the route.
It wasn't long before the path ahead cleared abruptly, thick black mist enveloped the area anew, and Leo Ray had surfaced once again.
In the distance, the enormous ghostly white Witch Demon city towered still, clearly showing that their troops lingered near the site of the recent disturbance.
“Human Emperor, the full group has assembled; just a handful of gravely wounded experts were concealed in the Underground City for healing.”
Loris inclined his head to Leo Ray as he updated.
“Human Emperor, our side stands ready too, awaiting any order from the Human Emperor.”
Veteran Gary advanced as well, yielding authority to Leo Ray.
“Got it; so everyone, get set—we'll proceed to dismantle the foe's main city's Absolute Defense Barrier shortly.”
Leo Ray clutched Rolanddel firmly, his tone steady and forceful.
During the prior clash in the Underground City, though certain experts fell, incorporating veterans such as Gary boosted our might considerably, easing our progress.
Yet right as Leo Ray's words ended, a barrage of arrows poured down from every side, joined by surging bone spears and necrotic spells, whipping up fierce winds of death.
Thanks to Little Jie's Mita array, the Absolute Defense Barrier went up instantly, and with ample energy feeding it, no lethal strikes would land at once—still, the swarm of arrows and spells hurtling overhead from above shook the entire company.
“What's happening? We're plainly beyond the enemy's main city reach—have they emerged from within?”
Sina creased her forehead, her pale features etched with gravity.
“I suspect the foes remain inside the walls; scan the vicinity more carefully.”
While Leo Ray assigned additional experts to fuel the barrier, he gestured toward the black mist's depths.
Tracing Leo Ray's indicated spot, the others started perceiving, within the haze's core, faint ghostly white shapes, pulses of thick malice drawing near.
Clearly, their surroundings brimmed with endless undead hordes, steadily closing in on their spot.
Against their force of almost two legions, the adversaries' count seemed at minimum tenfold greater, sealing them in completely.
“Lord, from the vibes I'm sensing, there appear to be no fewer than 20 Tier 4 Undead Legions.”
Xiao Jing, ever sharp, focused briefly before informing Leo Ray: “Moreover, fresh waves of undead forces are streaming in swiftly toward us, totaling scores of legions.”
“Yes, by the tread's rhythm, roughly a million are swiftly boxing us in right here.”
Loris pressed his ear to the earth briefly, then rose to verify.
“Has the undead host from the alternate Skeleton Fortress reached us so soon? Evidently, the enemies move swifter than we'd figured.”
Sina crossed her arms, furrowing her brow deeper: “It's wave upon relentless wave.”
“The enemy's pace outstripped our forecasts, and we squandered excessive time below in the Underground City besides.”
Having eyed the undead masses surging closer, Leo Ray drew in a measured breath.
Sina had it spot on—troubles piled up endlessly.
And presently, with the undead throng bearing down, they found themselves ensnared in yet another bind.
Their power equated to merely 2 Tier 5 Armies, sufficient to counter the 20 Tier 4 Undead Legions now hemming them in.
Under these conditions, though they poured everything into wiping out those 20 Undead Legions, they'd lack the means to assault the city later, much less handle the swelling reinforcements.
While Leo Ray pondered his next move, a gaunt lich etched with dark demonic glyphs materialized on the undead main city's lofty walls, gazing down at their trapped band—it was the former Witch Demon Leader.
A trace of scorn and derision crossed the Witch Demon Leader's parched visage, his chilling tone booming across the heavens.
“Human Emperor, your breakout from the Underground City caught me off guard; it's quite the shock, but ends there. This day seals your doom!”
Upon finishing, the Witch Demon Leader's venomous, hate-filled stare shifted to veteran Gary and the Broken Valley Alliance's other experts, his tone laced with heightened slaughter-lust.
“You miserable curs prove endlessly tenacious; daring to challenge me once more in this foolish way is infuriating and utterly laughable.”
“Believe you can truly unsettle me? I crushed you utterly in the past, and now I'll eradicate you all anew!”
Following his pronouncement, the Witch Demon Leader lifted his skeletal limb, directing the undead legions beneath: “Annihilate these presumptuous insects utterly!”
As the Witch Demon Leader's spectral command halted, raw slaughter-aura swelled about them, while myriad savage barrages ripped across the firmament, anew streaking toward them from all angles.
