Everyone Is A Lord: My Talent Is A Little Too Strong Chapter 2648: 1457: The Depths of the Black Fog (Part 2)

Previously on Everyone Is A Lord: My Talent Is A Little Too Strong...
Leo Ray guided the group of powerful allies deeper into the suffocating Black Fog of the Land of Howling, where hellish landscapes of ruins, blood-red rivers, and barren forests unfolded, evoking the horrors of Purgatory. Even seasoned warriors like Loris and Sina grew tense as Skeleton Fortresses multiplied, their undead sentinels watching with eerie smirks, while the fog sapped their energy and heightened the risk of encirclement by the vast Undead Army. Undeterred, the team resolved to strike the enemy’s command center—the Witch Demon Leader and core liches—before the horde could mobilize, though whispers of a shadowy backer loomed unspoken. At last, a colossal forest-white Giant City emerged, its churning fog and crimson moat marking it as the probable heart of the witch demons' domain.

As Loris spoke, Leo Ray scanned the surroundings. True enough, around the Forest White Giant City lay countless ruins and crumbled buildings. From their immense size, it was clear a once-glorious civilization had thrived in this spot.

These humble, shattered remains now stood in stark opposition to the immense Forest White Giant City, as though quietly recounting a brutal past.

In the end, Leo Ray's eyes settled on the sturdy walls of the Forest White Giant City.

Right then, those walls brimmed with witch demons and elite undead troops, their empty sockets glowing with a sinister red light, setting them apart from the typical low-level undead forces.

Sheltered by the Absolute Defense Barrier, they exuded fearless superiority, looking down on our approaching group with disdain and deadly intent in their stares.

Meanwhile, our ten thousand-strong force seemed tiny against the massive Forest White Giant City, akin to ants daring to topple a mighty tree.

“Get ready to assault.”

Feeling the press of time, Leo Ray signaled, and lines of Magic Cannons materialized at the forefront of our ranks.

Leo Ray had picked these Magic Cannons specifically for their superior reach, planning to strike from outside the enemy's effective distance. Depending only on our scarce numbers, even breaching the foe's city under the Absolute Defense Barrier would drain our magic users' power, which boded ill for the upcoming fights.

With every powerhouse here being the cream of the crop, in mere moments, ten thousand Magic Cannons stood ready, their shadowy muzzles trained on the hostile walls.

“Fire!”

At Leo Ray's order, the magical glow from our setup beneath the Forest White City walls flared brighter, as vivid compressed magic projectiles hurtled skyward like shooting stars toward the enemy defenses.

Upon impact with the rival's barrier, the vibrant magic bullets acted like stars plunging into the ocean, instantly whipping up surges of fierce energy ripples.

Since our firing range outstripped theirs, the enemies held back from rash counterattacks, simply watching quietly from atop their walls.

Following the initial barrage from the Magic Cannons, the next volley fired without pause, then the third and fourth, unleashing a thunderous clamor that echoed nonstop, while blasts of energy whipped up gales, kicking up dirt and debris across the area.

Leo Ray observed the smooth, rotating volleys from our magic experts with approval.

Even though every cannon was at least Tier 3, with plenty at Tier 4 and Tier 5—well beyond what Demon Energy Luminous Crystals could handle—the attendees here were all Tier 5 and up, their ability to charge the Magic Cannons vastly outpacing regular troops.

Leo Ray spotted how the Fairy Clan leaders—Fanny, Crisis, and Old Susan—effortlessly fueled several Magic Cannons at once, even after the intense clash from the night before.

Thanks to Leo Ray's stock of premium magic potions, everyone's mana had largely replenished, allowing them to bombard with little strain.

Moreover, the melee powerhouses weren't standing around. Boosted by spells that extended their range, a torrent of crossbows, javelins, and boulders poured forth like rain, carving sharp trails through the air.

For an instant, the combined onslaught of our Magic Cannon blasts and physical projectiles dominated the scene, dispersing the thick black fog somewhat. Though the enemy's Absolute Defense Barrier remained intact without fissures, its odd sheen had noticeably faded, signaling immense strain on the defenders.

“Your Majesty of the Humans, keeping up this assault will shatter the enemy's Absolute Defense Barrier before long!”

Sina's ashen features lit up with thrill as she nodded toward Leo Ray.

Earlier, Belinda had taken her fresh sixth-order gear, only to hand it back later, and now Sina itched to test it out, her wounds from the previous night's surprise attack still lingering.

“You're right, and the moment that Absolute Defense Barrier falls, I'll lead the rush up the walls!”

Loris's leonine visage betrayed his eagerness too, gripping his gleaming sixth-order great axe.

Hearing their enthusiastic declarations, Leo Ray merely offered a smile, staying silent.

In this scenario, the foes were absorbing the punishment without response, which clashed with the sly ways of witch demons.

It stood to reason they were plotting something devious.

“As the scouts reported, just like I figured, undead forces from various Skeleton Fortresses are converging on this place, aiming to trap us.”

“Yet the closest Skeleton Fortress's troops would need about an hour to reach us, and going solo against our might would be folly, so they'll hold off for aid from other Skeleton Fortresses, dragging out the wait even more.”

“Regarding the secret supporter, they won't show until the witch demon faces true peril.”

“Thus, beyond the trap and the ally, the enemy has additional ways to hit back at us; else, the witch demons on the walls wouldn't stay so calm.”

Leo Ray absently stroked his chin, mulling it over inwardly.

The real puzzle was, what extra tricks did they have in store?

After all, our army consisted of top-tier elites, and even with the black fog's enhancement, the opponents wouldn't foolishly clash directly.

As these thoughts crossed Leo Ray's mind, his eyes naturally drifted rearward.

Still, from the looming Forest White Giant City ahead, through the squat ruins nearby, and into the heavy black fog overhead, nothing seemed off.

“Am I just being paranoid?”

Right when Leo Ray questioned if his caution was excessive and he was overrating the threat, the hesitant tones of Xiao Jing and Little Jie rang out together by his side: “My Lord, I suddenly sensed a hint of a kindred presence!”

“Do you mean there's another unknown Stone of God nearby?”

Leo Ray paused briefly before grasping it.

Was it possible the enemy possessed a Stone Spirit too, with that Stone Spirit central to their concealed strategy?

But Little Jie's follow-up words shot down Leo Ray's guess: “My Lord, it is a Stone of God for sure, though the foe's is terribly feeble, no mightier than the dormant Stone of God from before.”

“Terribly feeble? That pretty much eliminates any danger.”

At this, Leo Ray nodded pensively.

If so, the chance of them deploying a Stone of God was basically nil; witch demons' craftiness meant they'd avoid a straight fight.

This realization brought fresh bewilderment to Leo Ray's expression.

This was, ultimately, deep within the Land of Howling; why would such a frail Stone of God emerge here?

While Leo Ray grappled with the mystery, Xiao Jing's subsequent remark deepened the enigma.

“My Lord, oddly enough, I detected no strange kin before; that aura just sprang into being out of nowhere.”

Xiao Jing finished, and Little Jie nodded right away in confirmation, her experience matching exactly.

“Not just a feeble Stone of God, but one that popped up abruptly?”

Amid his bafflement, Leo Ray pressed further: “Where's that aura located now?”

“My Lord, it's directly under our feet.”

Xiao Jing and Little Jie answered together, both gesturing downward at the earth.

“What?!”

Upon hearing that, Leo Ray's face grew taut in an instant.
