As Sina’s warning echoed, the powerful elites of the Desert Alliance remained vigilant, their eyes locked onto Lucas and the Witch Demons. They pushed their senses to the limit, scanning for any sign of movement, yet they failed to notice the lethal currents surging beneath their very feet.
“What... what is happening?!”
A formidable Fox People warrior, who had only just revealed himself, suddenly felt an inexplicable rigidity seize his limbs without warning. A mask of pure terror and shock crossed his features, but he was silenced before he could even cry out.
Under the cold glow of the moonlight, his stunned expression was frozen forever. His flesh, armor, and weaponry had all been transformed into lifeless, ash-colored stone.
It was clear he had been struck by Petrification Magic.
The Fox People warrior was not the only victim; the other Desert Alliance experts following Sina suffered the same grim fate. Many were turned into silent stone monuments before they could even realize they were under attack.
The assault was so lightning-fast and unexpected that by the time the sound of Sina’s voice faded, every member of the Desert Alliance—save for Belinda and her Medusa guardians—had been turned to stone.
“What on earth is going on?!”
Sina reacted instantly, her gaze sweeping over the horrific transformation of her allies.
She recognized this Petrification Magic immediately; it was the iconic ability of every powerful Medusa!
The reality of the situation was undeniable.
While everyone’s focus had been directed at Lucas and his party, Belinda and the Medusa guardians had used the distraction to petrify the Desert Alliance members from within!
“Sister, so you’ve become an accomplice of the Witch Demons too!”
Realizing the truth, Sina leaped back to create distance from Belinda and the others. From a safe range, she shouted coldly, “Do you even realize what you are doing?”
Sina’s chest heaved with suppressed fury. It was now painfully obvious that Belinda and her followers hadn't come to provide backup, but to orchestrate a backstabbing ambush!
Their "timely" arrival had been nothing more than a carefully laid trap. She had never imagined that the sister she trusted so deeply would be the one to plunge a blade into her back.
“I know exactly what I’m doing, sister. You can’t escape.”
Belinda flicked her tongue out like a serpent, her once-elegant features twisting into a hideous, terrifying mask. She let out a hysterical laugh: “The Queen’s Crown on your head will finally belong to me!”
“Serpent Calamity!”
With those words, the snakes that made up Belinda’s hair transformed into a swarm of massive serpents, lunging toward Sina with lethal intent.
Simultaneously, the other traitorous Medusa warriors launched the same technique. A tide of giant snakes flooded the sky like a crashing wave, creating a suffocating and terrifying pressure.
“Advent of the Python King!”
Sina was ready this time. Wielding her newly acquired Tier 6 Wand, she rapidly traced a complex Magic Array. From the light emerged a Golden Patterned Magic Giant Python, its size rivaling that of a Giant Dragon, as it charged to meet the oncoming swarm.
Boom!
A massive explosion of energy rocked the area as the two forces collided. The giant python, possessing overwhelming power, tore through the wave of serpents, forcing Belinda and the rebels to stumble back. Their serpentine hair was left in tatters, with some snakes severed and leaking thick black smoke.
The smoking, mangled hair of the rebels regenerated almost instantly, but the giant python had exhausted its strength. With a low whimper, the summon vanished into thin air before it could reach Belinda.
“Sister, it seems your power has grown. Have you reached Tier 6 and Seven Stars? Your casting speed and magical potency are those of a different person.”
Belinda soon regained her composure, her breathing steadying. She stared greedily at Sina’s Magic Robes and Wand, sneering: “I saw earlier that you walked away with quite the haul from the Shadow Market, even securing such a rare Divine Weapon. I suppose you sold out the Desert Alliance to afford it.”
“Stop spreading lies. Even at my lowest, I would never side with Witch Demons who use Taboo Skills. You are dragging the Desert Alliance into the abyss!”
Sina snorted in disdain and prepared to retreat, but Lucas and the Witch Demons had already moved to block her every exit.
“Sister, there is no way out; stop struggling.”
Belinda and her Medusa warriors closed in, wearing mocking grins. “You needn’t worry about the Desert Alliance; the Grand Army is already preparing to march.”
“The Grand Army is about to move out? What do you plan to do?”
Sina’s eyes widened in shock as she demanded an answer.
“Isn’t it obvious? We are going to crush the territory ruled by the Emperor of the Human Race,”
Belinda’s face twisted into a dark, sinister smile as she chuckled, “If I am not mistaken, sister, you already made a pact with the Emperor of the Human Race at the Shadow Market to strike the Witch Demon Territory, didn’t you?”
“I have no idea what you are talking about.”
Though her heart was pounding against her ribs, Sina maintained a mask of cold indifference.
It was clear that the enemy’s intelligence was far more precise than she had feared.
