As Loris fell silent, Sina’s brow furrowed in confusion. She turned to the Administrator and questioned: “Your Excellency, you failed to mention previously that a third party would be competing in this equipment exchange.”
“Furthermore, the point remains that they are merely humans who have recently emerged from the Outer Region. What possible right do they have to vie for Sixth-order Equipment against us?”
Agreeing with a cold snort, the Masked Man added: “We did receive intelligence earlier suggesting that the strongest members of the Human Clan’s Emperor possessed Sixth-order equipment, but that was clearly just a bluff. In reality, such gear doesn't exist among them, does it?”
“Heh, our alliance is considered the pinnacle of third-class forces, yet even we lack national-level treasures like Sixth-order Equipment. How could such items suddenly materialize in the hands of mere humans?”
Old Susan narrowed her aged eyes, her gaze dripping with disdain as she looked at Leo Ray. “Perhaps they intend to use this opening to inflate their own importance,” she said sarcastically, “hoping to find a way to befriend us so we might withdraw our forces?”
Following Susan’s remark, the powerhouses of both the Rainforest Fortress Alliance and the Desert Alliance found themselves in rare agreement, casting contemptuous looks toward Leo Ray.
Despite being rivals, they were long-established powers in this territory and truly viewed the human newcomers as insignificant.
“Your Excellency, Administrator, even if you required a competitor, they should at least be of a certain caliber, shouldn't they? Is this exception being made simply because this individual has personal ties to you?”
Loris glanced at Leo Ray once more, shaking his lion-like head in a helpless gesture. “It matters little; they are nothing more than an irrelevant spectator. Please, just bring out the owner of the equipment.”
“Your Excellency, my only interest lies with the owner of the gear,” Sina added, completely ignoring Leo Ray as she nodded toward the Administrator. “Let us see the esteemed owner immediately.”
While the two leaders were speaking, the Administrator had already moved to Leo Ray’s side. He reported respectfully: “Your Majesty, everyone has arrived.”
The Administrator’s words left the gathered experts of both alliances utterly bewildered, and they began to trade confused glances.
Protocol dictated that the Administrator should be summoning the equipment’s owner; why was he wasting his breath on the Human Emperor instead? Were they not concerned about insulting the true owner of the treasures?
It was common knowledge that anyone capable of producing two sets of Sixth-order equipment was no ordinary person. They would likely be a prominent figure from a first-class force or even a member of a royal bloodline, far beyond the status of second-tier powers.
Under the stunned gazes of the assembly, the Administrator’s formal introduction rang out: “Members of the Rainforest Fortress Alliance and Desert Alliance, allow me to formally present the individual before you. The Emperor of the Human Clan is, in fact, the owner of the two sets of Sixth-order equipment you have just inspected!”
Silence immediately blanketed the hall following the Administrator’s revelation.
The confusion that had filled their eyes moments ago was replaced by sheer shock as the crowd looked at one another in disbelief.
Loris and Sina, in particular, saw their arrogant expressions shift into a complex mix of emotions, leaving them momentarily speechless.
As the highest authority of the Shadow Market and a representative of the Bazaar Brotherhood’s might, the Administrator had no reason to lie. This meant Leo Ray was indeed the person they were so desperate to meet.
Recalling their previous mockery, their faces grew increasingly stiff. Under normal circumstances, they wouldn't care about a minor misunderstanding, but the situation had changed.
They had just felt the weight and power of that coveted Sixth-order equipment; the sensation of its superior quality was still fresh in their minds. They could not afford to let this opportunity slip through their fingers.
“Your Excellencies, we meet at last.”
Leo Ray, seated calmly at the head of the negotiation table, was the first to break the silence with an indifferent chuckle. “It appears I am not merely posturing, nor am I attempting to artificially boost my status.”
As he spoke, Leo Ray’s eyes swept over the most vocal critics, the Masked Man and Old Susan. Both flinched, pulling back and avoiding his direct gaze.
They were well aware that Leo Ray was the true owner. If their previous insults had offended him enough to deny their leaders the chance to acquire the Sixth-order equipment, they would surely face brutal consequences.
“Your Majesty of the Humans, my subordinates were simply ignorant. I ask that you do not hold it against us.”
Loris was the first to recover. He shot a fierce, warning glare at the meddlesome Old Susan before offering Leo Ray a sheepish grin. “It was all just a minor misunderstanding.”
Even as he smiled, Loris’s sharp, predatory eyes never stopped evaluating Leo Ray from head to toe.
He hadn't taken it seriously when Thomas mentioned outside the Shadow Market that Leo Ray might be the owner. Now, however, while he maintained a polite facade for the sake of the gear, he was internally reassessing Leo Ray’s power and trying to decipher his motives for offering such treasures.
Ultimately, his objective was unchanged—he would obtain that Sixth-order Divine Weapon by any means necessary, even if it meant turning hostile the moment the deal was done.
“Hehe, Your Majesty, it was indeed my own failure for not properly disciplining my people.”
Sina followed suit, sharply rapping the Masked Man on the head with her Magic Wand as a reprimand. She then adjusted her posture to accentuate her curves and gave Leo Ray a flirtatious wink. “Please, Your Majesty, do not let the faults of subordinates trouble you. I hope you won't take such matters to heart.”
