Eternal Love: A Love Story Chapter 2 - She Woke Up
Previously on Eternal Love: A Love Story...
Bewildered, Zhao Ming opened her eyes to an unfamiliar environment, completely baffled and confused.
This was supposed to be her afterlife, yet here she was, in a peculiar, all-white room.
She attempted to move her head slightly, noticing a girl beside her, her head bowed, having fallen asleep amidst her tears.
Trying to sit up, a searing pain shot through her hands, which were bound by wires.
"Ah," she hissed as the needle in her hand was pressed further when she tried to move.
Yu Mei, who had been weeping and drifted off to sleep, jolted awake at the slight sound. Seeing her Young Mistress, Xie Ming, who had been in a coma for three months, stir, she cried out in sheer happiness.
"Young Mistress, you're finally awake," she exclaimed, tears streaming down her face.
Gazing at Xie Ming, she continued, "Miss, I'm so relieved you've woken up. You had us all so worried. How could you try to take your own life? Why did you jump into a pool when you can't even swim?" she sobbed, her entire body trembling.
Zhao Ming, struggling to process the situation, stared blankly.
'When did I ever try to end my life? And what is this 'pool' you speak of? Is it some kind of well or pond?' she mused, trying to make sense of Yu Mei's words.
Before she could voice any questions, the girl shrieked in horror, "Blood? Oh my goodness, Miss, you're bleeding."
When Zhao Ming had tried to sit up earlier, the needle attached to the cannula in her hand had been dislodged, causing blood to trickle down and stain the white sheets.
Yu Mei was aghast at the sight of the blood.
She quickly pressed the call bell to summon the nurses.
Upon their arrival, the nurse was taken aback to see Xie Ming conscious. She had been a difficult coma patient, posing a considerable challenge for them.
Instructing another nurse to fetch the doctors, she entered the room to attend to Xie Ming.
She was bewildered by the blood on the sheets and floor, while Xie Ming simply stared ahead in a daze.
The nurse promptly stopped the bleeding and removed the cannula, which had caused swelling on Xie Ming's hand due to the pressure applied earlier.
Zhao Ming winced as the nurse tugged the cannula from her hand.
Shortly after, the other nurse returned with the head doctor. They were all astonished by her awakening, as her previous condition had been dire, and recovery was not expected anytime soon.
This drowning case had perplexed them; despite no external injuries, her body inexplicably failed to respond to treatments, leading to her worsening condition and coma.
The cause of her coma remained a mystery, a deeply unsettling case for the medical team, who found no discernible reason for her severe state.
Furthermore, it was a VIP case; she was the Young Mistress of the prominent Jin family, and any diagnostic error was unacceptable. Yet, the root cause eluded them.
They immediately commenced her examination.
The doctor instructed a nurse to check her temperature and began assessing her pulse with his stethoscope.
As the medical team examined her, she wondered, 'Who are these people, and where exactly am I?'
Once the examination concluded, they inquired, "Ms. Xie, do you feel any discomfort? Can you move your legs and hands slightly?" She complied, mentioning a slight headache.
They addressed her as 'Ms. Xie' because Jin Liwei had forbidden them from calling her 'Mrs. Jin'.
He disliked any association of her with his name.
Following this, the doctors directed the nurses to conduct further tests.
Amidst their discussion, Zhao Ming turned to Yu Mei, who stood by her bedside, and bombarded her with questions: "What place is this? Who am I? Why were you calling me Young Mistress? And who are you?"
Yu Mei was taken aback by the sudden barrage of questions, perplexed by her Young Mistress's behavior.
At this moment, everyone present was stunned by Xie Ming's reaction.
Yu Mei looked at Xie Ming with deep concern. "Young Mistress, don't you remember anything? Why are you asking all this? Please, Miss, don't frighten me like this."
The doctors exchanged glances and began posing a series of questions to Xie Ming, hoping to trigger some memory.
Xie Ming looked at them and replied, "I can't recall anything. Even when I try to remember, a sharp pain shoots through my head." She clutched her head, wincing in pain.
Hearing this, Yu Mei said, "Miss, let me tell you about yourself. Perhaps hearing it will help you remember something."
The doctors nodded in agreement.
"Miss, you are the Young Mistress of the Jin family, Xie Ming, the wife of business tycoon Jin Liwei, the CEO of Jin Corporations. He's renowned as the nation's most handsome and youngest CEO."
"-_- "
Zhao Ming was perplexed by the maid's excessive enthusiasm. She was inquiring about herself, not about anyone else's good looks.
"And I am Yu Mei, your personal maid."
"You fell into the pool three months ago and nearly drowned. Fortunately, the Young Master saved you and brought you to the hospital. You were in a coma for three months. We were extremely worried, but thankfully, you've awakened," she said, exhaling in relief.
Xie Ming gazed at the maid, bewildered. 'What sort of situation is this?' she mused internally.
Her gaze then fell upon her hands, which appeared pale and slightly swollen from the numerous needles that had been attached.
The body she now inhabited felt somewhat foreign; her breasts were more ample than before, and her skin lacked its previous smoothness and softness.
Although the figure of this woman was striking, Zhao Ming's own skin had been a milky white and exquisitely soft, complemented by long, dark hair.
Furthermore, this woman was dressed in peculiar attire.
By this point, she understood that something was amiss.
'Did I truly inhabit someone else's body? Did I actually die?' she questioned, her mouth agape in shock.
'What kind of unbelievable predicament is this?'
