Endless Evolution: Last Star Chapter 2044: True Relana
Previously on Endless Evolution: Last Star...
If it were a regular person, no… even if it were Gladius, especially if Gladius happened to be in the training hall right now, he would be speechless.
He wouldn’t be able to believe his eyes, and it was hard to imagine Gladius reacting this way.
BAM! BAM! BAM!
Adam’s fists rained down on Relana, causing her body to tremble just as Adam’s had before.
They had switched places, and this wasn’t supposed to happen in any of Relana’s scenarios.
Blood spattered in all directions as Adam’s fists only grew faster.
True, his body had its limits, and after he began landing punches enhanced by red threads, the strain on his body increased significantly. But he was facing only one opponent, so he had plenty of time.
Relana, in turn, tried to block his punches and dodge them. She succeeded only once out of every three attempts, while the other two punches hit their mark precisely.
Naturally, under a barrage of attacks, Relana had no way of regaining her power.
Strangely enough, at that moment, Relana wasn’t thinking about the pain or his attacks either. Her thoughts were moving in a different direction.
“Huh… So this is what Adam Vinter is like…”
A bitter smile spread across her face as an image of someone appeared in her mind.
“Yeah… I’d say they look alike… I didn’t think it was possible, but it seems he was right after all.”
Then, Relana thought of someone else, someone who had just now come to mind.
‘He… Huh, could it be that after all these years, he’s been waiting for this?’
For a moment, her gaze darted toward Adam.
‘Maybe he won’t be able to do it or reach the necessary level… but… this is actually his best, and perhaps only, chance… If the others agree, then I’m ready… I’ll be ready to do this in front of this young man…’
If Adam or Silvana could have heard Relana’s thoughts, they would have had more and more questions, and they wouldn’t have gotten any answers.
Relana was thinking of several people at once, whose fates, aside from Adam’s, had long been intertwined, and whose shared history spanned hundreds of years.
‘Alright… Now I understand Gladius’s curiosity. He’s always seen potential in others… His curiosity is dangerously effective…’
Adam hadn’t sensed it yet, but Relana’s aura had changed, barely.
‘Well, if I let him keep beating me up, it’ll be bad for my reputation. Then again… I won’t dash his hopes right away.’
Step.
Relana took a step to the side as her fist slammed into Adam’s.
A bright flash lit up the training hall as the shockwave sent them flying in different directions.
Adam immediately lunged forward, continuing his attack while Relana grabbed a heavy hammer from the stand.
A glint flashed across Adam’s eyes, it was enough for him to adjust his stance in light of Relana’s new weapon.
Bam!
He attacked as Relana swung her hammer.
Blow after blow, Adam increased the pressure, while Relana lost her weapons after just a few clashes.
Just as she had shattered Adam’s sword with her fist, so too did Adam’s punches shatter her hammers, spears, axes, blades, halberds, and so on.
Relana used all manner of weapons, and Adam destroyed them all.
But for some reason, Relana no longer worried about the outcome of their fight. Adam noticed this, but he couldn’t waste time thinking about it since he had to keep attacking.
“Good.”
Suddenly, Relana nodded as she tossed the broken hammer aside.
“Gha…”
She took a deep breath, and before Adam could even realize it, her palm slammed straight into his chest.
This strike wasn’t meant to inflict a serious wound on Adam. Rather, it was intended to knock him as far away as possible.
Adam tried to stop himself, but the momentum was too strong, and he ended up at the other end of the training hall.
“Tsk.” Adam bit his lip, realizing what was about to happen.
It seemed Relana had gotten her way, by the time Adam reached her, she would have regained her powers.
But… Instead, she turned her back on him and slowly picked up a sword from the stand.
“W-Wait…”
Adam muttered as he realized something in that moment.
‘She’d used more than ten types of weapons, but… a sword wasn’t among them. Isn’t that what most people would have chosen from the very beginning?’
That was exactly what Adam had done, and what many others would have done.
Relana had her reasons.
Also, she didn’t take a simple one-handed sword like the one Adam had. In her grip was a sword with a long hilt and an even longer, narrow blade. It was something between a regular sword, a rapier, and a greatsword.
Moreover, Adam didn’t recall ever seeing swords like these anywhere. It was as if they had been custom-made specifically for this training hall.
Step.
Relana took a step forward as a chill ran down Adam’s spine.
Her power level remained the same, it was even lower, since Relana had sustained numerous wounds during their clashes.
But… she seemed to become several times stronger the moment that sword was in her hand.
“Adam, after everything that’s happened here, I think you deserve to know who you’ve been fighting all this time. You need to know who I really am.”
Adam gulped as Relana grabbed the collar of her shirt with one hand and pulled it aside, revealing part of her chest.
Above her heart was a simple tattoo showing just one thing: the number ‘3’.
Adam’s eyes widened, for he had recently seen something similar on Kamora.
“Adam Vinter.”
Relana’s powerful voice echoed through the training hall.
“Standing before you is the Third Knight of the World End.”
Step.
Immediately after that, Relana took a step forward.
She found herself right in front of Adam as her sword swung into action.
‘Damn it!’
Acting on instinct, Adam lunged forward. He had to strike faster than she did.
Step.
His foot touched the ground as his pupils dilated.
‘Ah…?’
More than a dozen cuts appeared on his body, and in the next instant, blood gushed from each of them as if he had been struck by a multitude of swords, each one slicing through his body.
