Endless Evolution: Last Star Chapter 2042: No rules
Previously on Endless Evolution: Last Star...
Silvana and Adam had never been alike. Their fighting styles, their views on various matters, and the methods they used to achieve victory all differed.
There was nothing strange or wrong about that. Phantom and Operator could be different or similar, either way, they had advantages and disadvantages.
Silvana had long since accepted her role not only as Adam’s Operator, but as part of his powers. However, she understood that she still needed to work on herself and become stronger so she could be the reason Adam won.
That’s exactly why she agreed to train under Aiden’s supervision and asked Gladius to arrange a test for her.
Then... Was there anyone like Adam? Someone just like him? Perhaps even someone with whom his bond might be stronger than with Silvana?
One might say it had to be his Evolution Tree. It had been with Adam longer than Silvana or Lone Blaze and had helped him grow stronger. But... the Evolution Tree was more of a guide for Adam, a gatekeeper who wouldn’t let him move on prematurely to trials he wasn’t yet ready for.
However, besides Silvana, the Evolution Tree, Lone Blaze, and Lakma, there was someone else in Adam’s inner space, a being born from his energy and the energy of the first monster he killed, a being that used Adam’s will and the will of that monster to become something third, something with its own mind, will, and desires.
The Silver Weaver had helped Adam countless times ever since he discovered this power within himself, no... since he awakened it.
It seemed that the Silver Weaver’s primary power was Adam’s first ability, the needle or the blue threads that had recently appeared. But this was merely a consequence of his evolution, not the reason for his existence.
"Win... I want to win..."
Adam’s thoughts spread through his inner space, causing the Silver Weaver to smirk.
Strange as it may seem, he now stood before the Grand Barrier, leaving the top of the Evolution Tree to Lakma.
"Good, very good." The Silver Weaver nodded, touching the Grand Barrier.
He watched as the Path Construct trembled, whether from anticipation or fear.
"She wants you to play by her rules. To show her the emotions she expects from you. But you’re not a test that can be graded. You’re the one who’s ready to forge your own path, no matter where, and no matter who stands before you."
The Silver Weaver closed his eyes, and in the next moment he appeared behind Adam in the darkness.
Adam’s body was still reeling from Relana’s punches, which were still raining down on him at high speed.
Step.
The Silver Weaver stood behind Adam as his green eyes shone brightly and his hair surged upward.
"Don’t think about her expectations or her pathetic whims. Huh..."
The Silver Weaver let out a haughty chuckle.
"She’s sure we didn’t notice, but you understood everything from the very beginning, right?"
Adam’s lips moved with difficulty. He couldn’t say anything, but the Silver Weaver could clearly hear his thoughts.
"Yes... It was hope... She wants us to pass this test... She wants us to prove ourselves worthy... I don’t know what the point is or what she’s trying to achieve, but..."
The Silver Weaver decided to finish Adam’s sentence:
"It’s not us who need to pass her test, but she needs us to succeed. That means she’s already lost. She depends on us, not the other way around."
At the same time, the corners of Adam’s mouth turned up while the Silver Weaver’s smirk grew wider and wider.
BAM!
Relana’s punch slammed right into Adam’s jaw as a gush of blood spurted to the side.
’He’s just letting me beat him up. Isn’t he going to do anything? His body is tough, but sooner or later he’ll go down. He has a few ways out of this situation.’
Relana analyzed their situation, thinking about what Adam might do.
"After a few more punches, I’ll have to change my stance. At that moment, he’ll be able to step aside, though I won’t let him do that!"
Crack!
Suddenly, there was a loud crack as Adam’s body bent at an angle.
Relana’s eyes widened, but it was too late to stop her punch.
Her arm swept right past Adam’s face as his blue eyes were covered by a thick veil of blood from all the punches he’d had to endure.
It seemed as though Adam had managed to dodge Relana’s attack and now needed to retreat, but that wasn’t what he and the Silver Weaver wanted.
Blink.
Adam blinked as his left eye turned green. That simple change was enough to send a chill down Relana’s spine.
’What the...?’
Then, Adam opened his mouth wide as the blue threads headed toward his fangs, weaving sharp tips for them, filled with his energy.
"You..." Relana’s pupils contracted as realization hit her, Adam had broken her rules. They were supposed to fight without using their abilities.
But if Relana depended on Adam, did she even have the right to set the rules in the first place?
SNAP!
Adam’s jaw snapped shut around Relana’s wrist as his fangs sank deep into her flesh. Her energy couldn’t save her from the blue threads.
"Adam! Stop, right now!" Relana exclaimed as her aura began to grow. She was about to return to her actual power level.
Whooooosh!
A gray aura flowed over Adam’s body as his frame trembled.
In a blur reminiscent of Kamora’s lightning-fast leaps, Adam appeared in front of Relana, bringing his fist down on her face.
His energy prevented hers from stabilizing, which meant that as long as he kept attacking, and as long as she had to focus on his hits, she wouldn’t be able to regain her power.
Adam said nothing.
He just looked at her before blinking once more.
Now, his green eye grew deeper, and his movements changed.
Step.
He stepped forward as the crimson threads headed toward his hand.
Thrust!
His palm, like a blade, plunged into Relana’s stomach as a stream of blood gushed out, along with rapid trickles flowing from the corners of her mouth.
