Adam, pursued by a colossal serpent, desperately tried to escape. After a fierce exchange where Adam barely managed to defend himself, he fled to a nearby island. To his surprise, the serpent followed and cornered him, but its aggressive demeanor suddenly vanished when it spoke, revealing its name was Prasyx. Prasyx attacked to protect the island's trees, which were nearing their first harvest. Adam, realizing Prasyx was not hostile but perhaps naive, inquired about its age, learning it was likely over a thousand years old.

The Gray Sea was a dangerous place, and Adam knew that sooner or later he would face a formidable foe.

However, he didn’t expect it to be a giant serpent at a time when he simply wanted to fly over the island to reach the passage.

But that wasn’t the end of the surprises for him.

The monster, which was strong enough to give Adam a worthy fight, turned out to be not nearly as menacing once they began talking.

"Prasyx...? And you’re saying you might be nearly two thousand years old?" Adam muttered in disbelief.

He had encountered many monsters that had lived for hundreds of years. He knew that some of them were over a thousand years old, but most of them carried themselves with gravity, and an aura of majesty surrounded their every step.

Prasyx, on the other hand, was their complete opposite.

The closest comparison that came to Adam’s mind was Norax. This monster was one of the strongest Lords, yet he spent most of his time playing video games at the top of his mill. An ordinary person would never have believed this was real.

In response, Prasyx nodded.

"You’ve got it exactly right! So... Are you Adam Vinter?" Prasyx glanced at Adam. "What are you doing here? Why were you trying to steal my Lucent Pears?"

"W-What?" Adam blinked several times. "What does that mean? I was just flying over this island, and you attacked me!"

Prasyx swished his tail from side to side as he pondered.

"Hmm? It’s surprising that you survived. I’m pretty strong, you know?"

"Yeah, I’ve already noticed that." Adam sighed heavily.

"And!" Prasyx exclaimed as he leaned forward with his massive body. "This isn’t just any island, it’s my island! It’s Island A21, and I’ve been the boss here for a long time!"

’A21?’ Adam muttered to himself. ’Huh, I thought I’d made it much farther, but I haven’t even reached A50 yet?’

Then, Adam realized it would take him quite a while just to get to Breydar. The distance between the islands was enormous, and it seemed the islands themselves were also growing in size.

"Alright, there’s been a misunderstanding between us. I didn’t mean to intrude on your island, and I certainly didn’t mean to steal your... Lucent Pears?" Adam said uncertainly, looking at the fruit on the trees.

They actually looked like pears, the shape was the same, but they looked as if they were woven from dense white energy.

"Yes! They’re my pride and joy! I’ve been waiting several years for them to finally ripen! I mean, you have to understand, I can’t take any risks. As soon as I saw someone enter my territory, I attacked right away."

Adam looked around as he slowly nodded.

"I suppose you’re right. There really are a lot of monsters here that can attack at any moment. So, you’re guarding these pears? That’s it? Is that all you do here?"

Prasyx nodded as his tail swayed from side to side behind him.

"Yeah, it’s a peaceful place. If you’re strong enough, you can claim an island for yourself and basically stay here as long as you want. You can easily hold onto an island for tens or even hundreds of years."

Adam touched his chin with a pensive look.

’He’s right. Aiden said that people who have their own goals or who want to stay away from other lands come here, too. No one’s going to bother you over some random island.’

There were many monsters in the Gray Sea, but even the Blue Jellyfish wasn’t a dangerous opponent for Adam. Prasyx would be the first one Adam would have to fight seriously, but neither he nor Prasyx had any reason to fight.

"What about you? If I’ve understood the situation correctly, you’ve never been to the Gray Sea before, right?" Prasyx asked. "I mean, it’s a basic rule that you shouldn’t fly over other people’s islands if you don’t want to get attacked."

"Agh... So you’re saying that if I’d just skirted around the edge of your island, you wouldn’t have attacked me?"

Prasyx nodded without hesitation.

"Of course! That’s exactly why I showed myself to you at first, but didn’t come out of the water until you got too close. But don’t worry, I’m not mad at you." Prasyx waved his tail nonchalantly. "Newcomers always make mistakes like that. Some of them even die because of it. "

Then, Prasyx glared at Adam as if wanting to make sure of something.

"But it’s very rare to encounter a Phantom here. Hahaha, you could even say I’m lucky that a Phantom ended up on my island! You know, if you want, I can even share one of my pears with you!"

Adam looked at the trees and smiled.

"Well, I don’t know if I’ll be able to come back to this island. You asked what I was doing here, and you’re right, this is actually my first time at the Gray Sea. I want to make it to the Grand Abyss."

"Oh!" Prasyx’s eyes widened as soon as he heard that. "I was there twenty years ago! It’s an amazing place! Are you going to get stronger there?"

Adam nodded. "Something like that."

Then, Prasyx’s eyes fell on Adam’s belt as he noticed the Obsidian Compass.

"Damn it!" Prasyx exclaimed in disbelief as he stared at it. "Where did you get that thing? Do you know how rare they are?"

Adam smiled bitterly as he pulled the compass from his belt.

"Yeah, something like that, but I’ve been careless with it, so now I might be in trouble." He pointed to the cracked cap.

Prasyx narrowed his eyes.

"Can I take a look? I’ve seen these things a few times. Maybe I can figure out what the problem is."

Adam hadn’t expected this from the enormous serpent, but he had no reason to refuse.

"Sure."

Adam held out his hand as streams of green energy flowed from Prasyx. He effortlessly picked up the compass, rotating it before his eyes.

"Tsk, you’re out of luck, Adam. I’m afraid its danger analyzer is broken."

"Agh?"

Prasyx continued to look at Adam:

"You won’t be able to tell how dangerous a passage is anymore. That feature just isn’t working properly now."
