Adam fights Nukra and Amelia, pushing his limits with Dark Energy. Despite their combined ice barrier, Adam's assault proves too much. Romara intervenes, stopping Adam and freezing him, then declaring the training complete. Nukra and Amelia are left stunned by Adam's overwhelming power and a brief, inexplicable moment of unfamiliar control over him.

Twitch.

Adam’s eyes fluttered open as he slowly woke up.

He was in the same room as usual, with a meal that had already gone cold and a pitcher of water waiting for him on the table.

His head was splitting with a sharp pain. Adam struggled to remember what had happened yesterday as fragments of his battle against Amelia and Nukra gradually surfaced in his mind.

"Agh... Damn it, what was that all about?" Adam muttered, tossing and turning in bed.

He remembered everything that had happened during the fight, after all, he was the one who had fought. No one had controlled his mind. The Silver Weaver had only helped him at critical moments.

However, Adam’s mind hadn’t been clear at the time. The effect had been similar to intoxication or something like that.

"Well... At least I managed to do it, didn’t I?" Adam muttered, staring at the ceiling.

Silence.

No one was in a hurry to disturb Adam, even though they could sense his awakening through his aura, and Adam himself didn’t want to rush.

He knew that now he had to do something important, restore Vador’s Legacy Artifact.

Once he completed this task, the last one, he would set out for the Gray Sea.

’First the Grand Abyss, and then... I need to find Breydar. By the way, Krador, he was supposed to find me information about that bastard, and he still owes me a compass.’

After that, Adam shook his head and sat down at the table with a pensive expression.

The meal was fairly simple, since Amelia didn’t want to scare him or put him in an awkward position with the kind of food monsters usually ate. Although outwardly they looked very similar at this level, they were still members of different races.

Crunch.

The bread crunched as Adam bit into it and popped a few small yellow vegetables into his mouth, they resembled tomatoes but were much more sour.

On the plate were also berries and meat, as well as something resembling butter, a cross between butter and jelly.

"Not bad." Adam shrugged before taking a sip of tea.

Strange as it might seem, tea, coffee, and meat were found practically everywhere in the world, no matter where he went.

Soon, the plate was empty as Adam wiped his mouth and headed for the exit.

A creak.

The door opened as a low voice came from outside.

"Oh, are you awake already?"

Adam looked to his left, only to see Nukra. She was standing with her back against the wall. Her eyes were closed, and her arms were crossed over her chest.

"Have you been waiting for me all this time?"

"Yeah... You know, after what you did yesterday, I’m afraid to approach you now."

Adam smiled bitterly.

"Come on. We both know I won’t believe that."

"Huh, yeah, I guess you’re right." She smiled back, stepping away from the wall.

"But, seriously, what was that? What happened to me yesterday? I heard Romara at the end. She was talking about some kind of Soul Rush."

Nukra nodded.

"Yes. Don’t worry, nothing unusual happened to you. This happens to everyone who uses the Soul Stance for the first time. It’s because you’re not used to that kind of energy and aura yet.

"Also, that kind of power naturally affects your desire to fight and your thirst for blood. But... I have to admit that usually the Soul Rush isn’t nearly as dangerous as it was in your case."

For a moment, Nukra fell silent, recalling how she and Amelia had barely managed to withstand Adam’s attack.

"When I first gained my Soul Stance, the Soul Rush lasted only five seconds. I ended the fight with three precise strikes, after which I collapsed unconscious to the ground.

"For those who activated the Soul Stance under calmer conditions, like Amelia, it’s even easier. They just need a few hours of quiet, and they gradually come to. But... you... Fuck, which one of the three of us should be called a monster, hmm?"

She narrowed her eyes, staring intently at Adam.

"You could barely move after I beat you up. Sure, I did it to help you, but I didn’t think you’d be this strong after activating the Soul Stance."

"Well, I won’t lie. I liked that power."

Adam clenched his fist as a glint flashed across his eyes.

"Who knows? Maybe when I get close enough to the barrier, I’ll be strong enough to defeat you?"

"Pffft! Don’t count on it! I’ll never lose to a K4-Phantom. But when you become the next Second Rank Phantom..."

Her voice trembled at the realization that this might happen soon.

"Then everything will be different. That’s for sure."

All monsters, and especially the Lords, understood just how great the difference was between the Lords and Second Rank Phantoms.

Monsters at the Red or Black threat levels thought that once they reached the Lord Level, they would become the strongest, and even Second-Rank Phantoms would be no match for them.

The reality was far more brutal.

No Baron or Viscount stood a chance against Second-Rank Phantoms, not even the weakest among them.

The only thing that saved the monsters, namely, the Befallen Crown, who were open enemies of all of humanity, was how rarely Second-Rank Phantoms appeared.

There were instances when, even over the course of an entire World Wipe, 250 years, not a single Second-Rank Phantom appeared.

Thus, this World Wipe had been quite fortunate for all of humanity. Aside from Adam, the Citadel had several other candidates who could have reached the Second Circle during those 250 years.

Sure, there were candidates in every World Wipe, but most of them failed and remained K4-Phantoms forever. Such was their fate.

"Alright, I’m sure Amelia is already waiting for me, isn’t she?"

Nukra smirked. "Yeah, not just her, but Romara as well. Go on, I hope you can help Vador."

"Hmm? For some reason, I thought you didn’t care." Adam raised an eyebrow.

Nukra shook her head.

"I’m not ready to consider them my family, that’s too silly for my taste, but Vador is a good man. He deserves to live on."

Adam’s gaze grew deeper.

"I see."

He clenched his fists.

"In that case, I’ll save him. I owe it to Amelia, after all, she fulfilled her part of the deal."
