Endless Evolution: Last Star Chapter 1865: Information About Phantoms

Adam glanced at Amelia, ignoring Nukra’s excited expression.
"Can someone explain to me what’s going on here and who she is?"
Step.
Amelia stepped forward with a calm look.
"I told you that besides me, there are two other daughters in the Grad Family. This is Nukra, my younger sister and the youngest member of our family."
’Right,’ Adam nodded to himself. ’Amelia said she became a member of the family about ten years ago.’
"Wait, wait, wait." Adam waved his hand. "Nukra, how could you have adopted my fighting style if I only became a Phantom two years ago? By that point, you must have already been a Lord!"
Nukra shook her head.
"I became a Lord a year ago! I’ve always loved fighting, but when I saw the recordings of your battles, I realized I was being too careful!"
Romara sighed heavily, touching her cheek with a disapproving look.
"Even without your influence, she was the most chaotic member of the family. But... When the first rumors about a Phantom named Adam Vinter started circulating, things only got worse."
’A year ago...?’ Adam muttered to himself, trying to remember what he’d been doing back then. ’Is she talking about the battle against the Plague Reaper or the Crimson Monarch? No, that’s not what matters.’
"Hmm?" Adam frowned. "Where did she even get recordings of my battles?"
Romara smirked.
"Boy, you’re in Varreyn, you can get your hands on practically anything here. Do you really think there aren’t organizations that collect information on Phantoms? Come on, that’s basic knowledge."
Strange as it may seem, this made Adam think.
’Wait, she’s right. There are billions of monsters in the world and tens of thousands of kinds. Still, the mission department has a huge database containing records of practically all weak and medium-strength monsters.’
At the K3 and K4 levels, the mission department no longer had the capacity to maintain information on every monster of that power level, but they still had a lot of data.
This was especially helpful for beginners, which Adam once was. When he was just learning to fight, the fact that he knew his opponent’s strengths and weaknesses often saved his life.
’Also,’ Adam continued his train of thought. ’The Phantoms are much smaller in number than monsters. If any of the monsters want to do this, they’d have to find information only on the strongest and most outstanding ones. The Befallen Crown is hunting me, so... I definitely fall into that category.’
Then, Adam looked at Nukra.
"Are you saying that somewhere in Varreyn, information about me surfaced, you watched me fight, and you were so inspired that you changed your fighting style?"
"Yes!"
She replied immediately.
"But! It didn’t happen right away. At first, I thought you were just lucky or crazy, but when I saw you sacrifice your arm to win, that’s when I started to realize what kind of fighter you are! I wanted to be just like you. If some weak human can do it, then so can I!"
Step.
Amelia moved closer to the bed.
"This might sound strange, but for Nukra, it was actually the motivation she needed to get better. After she changed her fighting style and became even more aggressive, she racked up several victories, one of which helped her break through the barrier to the Second Circle."
Adam’s eyes darted from Amelia to Nukra and back again.
"Look, you made this choice yourself, but even I realize that the way I fight isn’t exactly safe."
"Pffffft!" Nukra snorted haughtily. "I don’t know of a single monster that would act safely and still evolve quickly."
Then, she pointed at Romara.
"Look at that old bitch!"
Romara’s face filled with indignation and shame.
"W-What? What did you just call me?"
"I’ve already caught up to her in power level even though I’m several hundred years younger than her! That’s what safe methods of accumulating energy lead to. It’s a choice for weaklings!"
Nukra crossed her arms over her chest, her head held high as she looked away.
"If I hadn’t taken risks in my battles, I wouldn’t have been strong enough to even survive the next World Wipe!"
Romara was about to explode with rage, while Adam looked at Amelia, pointing at Nukra.
"Huh, I like that one."
"Of course!" Nukra waved her hand dismissively. "Everyone likes me! Though... It’s especially nice to hear that from you. You’re one of the few whose fighting style is riskier than my own."
After that, Nukra finally looked at Vador.
"Romara said that Vador’s Evolution Tree was destroyed, but... his aura is surprisingly stable. Does anyone want to tell me what happened?"
...
Thirty minutes later.
Clap.
Nukra clapped her fist against her palm as her eyes lit up.
"Oh, I see! So now all he has left to do is repair Vador’s Spirit of Eternal Winter?"
Amelia nodded.
"Yes. I think the best solution would be for Adam to enter my inner space and take a part of my artifact for my father. It will serve as a sort of core around which Adam can connect all the other parts."
Romara hugged herself tighter.
"I still think this is a bad idea. It’s too risky. For you to avoid permanent injury and just get weakened, Adam would have to do everything perfectly. I don’t think that’s possible."
"What about the Soul Stance?" Nukra asked. They had told her about the deal as well. "If he masters the Soul Stance, his accuracy will improve dramatically, won’t it?"
Amelia sighed heavily.
"That’s true, but our progress... It’s stalled. We need time to find a solution."
For some reason, a smirk spread across Nukra’s face as a dangerous glint flashed in her eyes.
Whoooooosh.
She grabbed Adam by the wrist and pulled him along with her.
"Hey! What are you doing?!" Romara exclaimed, while Adam was more confused than angry.
Nukra turned around, giving her a confident look.
"I’m going to help him. There’s no better way to learn the Soul Stance than under life-or-death pressure."
She glared at Adam.
"You fought Amelia before? Huh! Get ready, this time you’ll be up against both of us, and I won’t stop until you learn how to use the Soul Stance!"
