Endless Evolution: Last Star Chapter 1721 1721: Only he has a reason to fight (Part 1)
Previously on Endless Evolution: Last Star...
The clash between Batar, Narha, and Kelya was drawing to its conclusion.
Their prolonged battle meant only a single victor would emerge, and this outcome would determine who earned a place in the Grim Court.
This outcome was all but certain, as Kelya had already eliminated every other contender. Furthermore, a legion of unranked monsters had wisely decided to withdraw their aspirations for the Grim Court upon learning of Kelya's participation.
It was an astute decision, for Kelya, Batar, and Narha stood leagues above the rest. They were the only three with a genuine prospect of challenging Adam Vinter and putting forth a commendable effort at the Grim Court.
That is, if Kaerno had not unexpectedly intervened, altering the anticipated course of events.
Unfortunately for the trio, the emergence of another Grim Court aspirant within the Hollow Lands presented the worst possible complication.
"No fucking way!!!" Kelya's voice, laced with disbelief, pierced the air as she fixated on Zin.
Batar mirrored her shock, and even Narha's typically composed demeanor fractured. The reality that the young man before them was not an illusion, but tangible, seemed impossible.
A sudden gust of wind swirled around Zin as his eyes, the color of amethysts, landed on Kelya.
"Es'aha mentioned your desire to confront Adam Vinter, correct?"
A silent exchange of glances passed between Kelya, Batar, and Narha. With Zin's question, their shared intention became unequivocally clear.
Batar let out a heavy sigh. 'Fate, why must you be so unkind? All I desired was a worthy adversary to overcome.'
Narha pressed her lips together. 'He is here… returned to the Hollow Lands? And now? All for the sake of a mere confrontation?'
Kelya seethed, her anger far surpassing that of the other two.
'Damn it! SHIT! Why at this moment?! We haven't heard a whisper about him for months! Did he arrive solely to sabotage our plans?'
After a brief pause, Batar shook his head and stepped forward.
"Yes. We intend to fight Adam Vinter. It's a singular chance we may not get again. But why do you inquire, Zin?" Batar's gaze sharpened. "Did you not arrive with the same objective?"
Despite the apprehension Zin inspired in many monsters, his voice carried no hint of arrogance or condescension. He engaged in a straightforward conversation, though all understood its fleeting nature.
"Correct."
Zin responded with calm certainty.
"My purpose here is to face Adam Vinter. I've addressed your query. Now, it is your turn. What compels you to seek him in the arena?"
Kelya gestured dismissively. "Is it not evident? The one who vanquishes Adam Vinter will ascend to supremacy! The strongest unranked monster in the Hollow Lands, perhaps even among the Fangs, unmatched by any!"
Zin tilted his head, a flicker of confusion crossing his features.
"Hmm? I fail to comprehend."
His sincerity was palpable. He blinked a couple of times, as if questioning Kelya's seriousness.
Then, he indicated her. "Your established position is well-known, Kelya. Batar follows, then Narha. I believe many would concur with this hierarchy."
"Therefore," Zin's gaze swept over them, "you have no further reason to engage Adam Vinter. You can entrust that task to me."
Kelya's expression contorted with sudden fury. Her eyes widened, and veins visibly throbbed in her neck.
"WHAT? You presume to dictate who is superior and who is inferior?"
Zin turned to face her. "Is that not the reality? You know it to be true, as you are holding back your full power for the actual fight. Had you unleashed everything you possess, Batar and Narha would have been incapacitated long ago."
He then gestured towards Batar and Narha.
"Narha, your speed is remarkable. However, if Batar's intent was to fell you, he would channel all his might into countering your lethal assaults. He might sustain grievous injuries, perhaps even lose a limb, but ultimately, he would crush you like a rampaging bull."
She found herself speechless, a profound chill tracing its way down her spine. The scenario Zin painted was, regrettably, the most probable outcome should their rivalry escalate into outright hostility.
"I perceive your understanding," Zin stated, turning his back once more, his demeanor unruffled. "In that case, allow me to repeat my question. Why do you desire this confrontation? You are both aware of the established strength hierarchy. It is hardly a secret between you."
A few moments passed before he directed his gaze towards the northern Hail Passage.
"My objective differs, and thus, I must ask you to stand aside. You grasp the answer to your own question, but I do not yet have mine. This battle is more vital to me than it is to you. It is as simple as that."
Twitch. Twitch. Twitch.
Kelya's facial muscles spasmed. She teetered on the brink of explosive rage, yet she was not the first to make a move.
A colossal shadow suddenly engulfed Zin, who remained with his back to them.
"Agh?"
The moment he turned, Batar's imposing figure was revealed, his massive fist poised to strike.
"Even if every word you speak is the truth, Zin, it holds no consequence. Your claims are mere conjecture. To uncover the genuine truth, we must clash upon the battlefield!"
With a tremor that shook his very being, Batar brought his fist down upon Zin.
"The strongest among us will face Adam Vinter and emerge victorious! If you wish to prevent this outcome, then step aside and cease your interference!"
Kelya and Narha exchanged a worried look. The sheer force Batar had infused into that solitary blow was palpable. Had they been in Zin's position, they would have desperately sought to evade such an attack, lest they be reduced to a bloody smear in an instant.
Yet, not a flicker of apprehension registered in Zin's gaze.
A mere blink of an eye.
He blinked, and the red apple disappeared from his grasp. In the subsequent moment, his fist, diminutive in comparison to Batar's, met the incoming strike directly.
The ground fractured under the impact, a colossal shockwave erupting, sending plumes of gray sand skyward.
"I understand now," Zin's calm voice resonated as he lifted his left hand. "Very well, I accept your conditions."
A sharp 'click' sound echoed.
He snapped his fingers, and Batar's eyes widened, instantly contorted with agony.
