Adam and his allies approached the Dark Knight guarding the Frenzied Shard in a field of black flowers. They noted his aura's surprising strength, rivaling that of a Fang despite lacking a Hollow Mark, and prepared for battle without activating theirs. The knight, bound by a contract, spoke of his duty, blocked their exit with a massive sword from the sky, and challenged the group to fight.

Hundreds of massive swords formed the sword wall, densely layered in multiple rows to block even the smallest opening.

With the Dark Knight now sealing off the sole pathway, everyone realized that destroying the final servant and the Frenzied Shard was necessary before they could escape this area.

But was that truly so?

'This could be an escape route,' Adam mused, gazing at the sword points. 'What prevents us from leaping right over?'

He quickly saw that the Dark Knight had anticipated that move.

'Damn…' Adam swore silently, observing the dense shadows spreading through the sky over the sword field.

This gloom merged seamlessly with the perpetual night of the Hollow Lands, yet Adam discerned it clearly.

'Is there truly no other exit from here?'

Tap.

With a quick flash, his needle materialized in his grasp, transformed recently into a lengthy, weighty blade as black as the Dark Knight's own.

Oddly, it drew his focus right away.

"Young man, I have to say your weapon is quite distinctive. Where did you obtain it?"

Adam gave a wry smile.

"It's been mine since the start, so-"

"No."

The Dark Knight interrupted him abruptly.

"That isn't its true form. I sense it. I see how your... your sword... Actually, it's not quite a sword, right?"

Slowly, doubt in Adam's gaze shifted to assurance, perhaps even arrogance.

"Come now, old timer. Your aura alone reveals you've trod the same grueling road. Wondering what I went through for this weapon?"

Adam adopted a combat pose, clutching the handle tightly in both hands.

"I battled and triumphed! Again and again until I reached this point!"

A low, hoarse laughter erupted suddenly from the Dark Knight:

"Hahahahaha! If you were a monster, blade pillar would suit you perfectly. Though…" His voice lowered. "You're close enough."

Adam opened his mouth to reply, but his eyes bulged in shock.

'Agh?'

The Dark Knight vanished from sight.

'Where is he?'

WHOOOOOSH!

In an instant, the huge form loomed before him amid a fierce wind blast.

All that filled Adam's vision was a massive fist hurtling directly at him.

'FUCK!'

Just in time, Adam raised a defense as the Dark Knight's punch crashed into his needle's edge.

The force hurled Adam back dozens of meters, smashing his back against one of the wall's blades.

Fortune favored him since the edge pointed outward.

"Gha!" Adam grunted in agony, rising unsteadily from the dirt.

For Loargh, Vyora, and Sarka, this marked the pivotal moment.

The fight ignited, with one already injured.

Tremble!

Loargh's eyes gleamed intensely as he dashed ahead at maximum velocity. Unlike against the Red Scavengers, he understood a single blow wouldn't fell the Dark Knight.

Yet he had another plan.

Whooosh. Whoooosh. Whoooosh.

Within a ring of light, Loargh circled the Dark Knight rapidly. Each revolution accelerated him further, stirring dust and crushing the parched grass underfoot.

'No matter his power, without knowing my attack's origin, it's pointless! I just need to spot his vulnerability!'

The Dark Knight remained motionless. The white streak darted before him repeatedly, bouncing off his plate armor.

STEP!

On his following stride, the Dark Knight stomped down hard, unleashing a shockwave.

That minor quake disrupted Loargh's rhythm, briefly halting his momentum.

Fear surged in Vyora's eyes as Loargh's form emerged within the glowing circle.

DASH!

In one explosive burst, the Dark Knight surged ahead, arm extended.

Sarka chewed her lip bloody. 'What the FUCK!?'

CLUTCH!

The Dark Knight's fingers clamped vise-like around Loargh's throat. The coarse, metal-clad digits pressed deeper into flesh.

"GRRHHHH!!!" Loargh snarled, struggling to escape the hold.

Despite his utmost effort, he failed to pry loose the Dark Knight's grasp.

"BASTARD!!!"

Vyora's furious shout rang out as fiery spheres pelted him from the flank.

Yet the Dark Knight showed no response. He kept strangling Loargh.

Twitch. Twitch. Twitch.

As flames heated his armor to a crimson glow, his cape stirred like a living entity.

Then, three elongated eyes with scarlet irises and circular pupils materialized on the cape.

Sarka stared in stunned silence from afar. 'Damn, is this an artifact, a skill, or part of his body?!'

SWING!

The dark cape swept forward in a fluid motion, devouring the blazing spheres entirely, not a single spark left in its wake. One of the crimson eyes quivered violently, its pupil whipping back and forth in frenzied motion as though driven mad, before it steadied once more.

Adam spotted it immediately. The entire scene unfolded clearly before his eyes.

'Vyora's strike only hit one out of the three eyes? Damn… That's trouble.'

Understanding that Vyora's assault had been thwarted by the Dark Knight's mysterious cape, Sarka charged ahead.

Tap. Tap. Tap.

In a streak of blue light, she bounded from point to point, channeling her power into her clenched fist.

Moments later, she stood directly before the Dark Knight. Noticing her approach, the Dark Knight shifted aside cautiously, alert to the surging energy around her.

"Get it!"

The Dark Knight eyed her briefly, lifting his blade to defend.

BLAST!

A burst of azure fire consumed the Dark Knight, his silhouette the only thing piercing the inferno.

Sarka pressed on without pause, slamming her palm into the Dark Knight's wrist and briefly slackening his hold.

"YES!" Sarka cried out in delight while jumping back.

There was no need for her to assist Loargh further. Her contribution had been plenty.

The instant he drew his first ragged breath, bolts of lightning sparked in his gaze as he bolted away from the Dark Knight to the greatest distance possible.

"S-Sarka!" he bellowed in a raspy tone. "Move aside! Head to the wall!"

Confusion gripped her until a dazzling glow and scorching heat erupted overhead.

She glanced upward and flashed a broad grin.

Straight toward the Dark Knight plummeted the meteorite.
