Endless Evolution: Last Star Chapter 1621 1621: Brother and Sister's Hunt

Morok chose the smartest move he could—falling back.
He remained unaware of the chaos that unfolded at the mansion, yet with Keranda on the scene and the auras from the girl and young man vanished, he quickly pieced together the grim reality.
Step. Step. Step.
Just the three survivors lingered, forced to unleash every ounce of strength just to stay alive.
"Boss!" The burly man shouted, as jungle foliage whipped by his features. "We can dash across the canyon. That's the start of another clan's domain! They won't risk wrecking their own turf!"
Morok harbored reservations about the idea, but no better options presented themselves.
"Fine. Then we head that way. Battling both Zargos and Keranda together is pointless. If our elders aim to eliminate Adam Vinter for good, they'll need a far more aggressive strategy."
The woman gnawed her lip until it nearly split open.
"That wretch... She appeared out of nowhere and flipped the script! DAMN IT! One day, I'll rip that wretch apart!"
Actually, the Befallen Crown had dispatched way more troops than typical to wipe out Adam. Normally, spotting a threat in a Phantom meant sending just one or two assassins as a pair.
Situations where a full squad targeted a K4-Phantom, like with Liliane and the fifth team, were uncommon. Even scarcer were instances where a Phantom survived after two separate groups attempted and botched the kill.
For Adam, this bought him advantages, keeping him breathing with various allies poised to shield him for their own motives.
However, the instant the Befallen Crown caught him in their grasp again, they'd unleash a beast of such might that no aid could save him.
This dread would haunt him for ages, persisting until the fatal encounter or until his power grew sufficient to dismiss the fear.
Tremble!
A quake rippled through the atmosphere, spinning the trio around as the woman's eyes bulged.
"What the…?"
Keranda, expression serene, pursued them from behind, leaping off the air like solid ground. She wore towering black-iron boots, violet energy surges flickering along their razor edges.
Whenever her pace faltered just a bit, she triggered a gravity wave. The purple surge warped the air, boosting her velocity and distorting the surrounding space.
"Hold on, she's aiming to—!"
Before the woman could complete her words, Keranda materialized between her and the burly man.
Her eyes gleamed with icy malice as she seized their shoulders and bore down with crushing force.
TREMBLE. TREMBLE. TREMBLE.
The downward force felt like it would shatter every bone in their frames.
"ARGH!" Crimson sprayed from the burly man's lips.
For them, this marked merely the start of their ordeal.
"Nobody escapes this place. This is our domain, our laws."
BAM!
In a blur of motion, Keranda smashed their skulls into the earth, carving two deep furrows from the impact.
Morok whirled about, summoning shadows to envelop him. He needed to aid them. He'd already forfeited two teammates.
"Not so quick!"
Zargos bellowed, materializing directly before Morok. His blazing inferno scattered the encroaching shadows.
"You see, my sister constantly chases the mightiest and deadliest foes, but today, it's my shot!"
BAM!
The fiery explosion hurled Morok away. His shadows struggled to regroup, but the scarlet blaze scorched them relentlessly, blocking any return to fighting form.
Like a plummeting comet, Morok smashed through jungle branches until colliding with a boulder.
"GHA!" He wheezed in agony, the blazing knuckles mirroring in his gaze.
Shadows shielded him from the initial blow, sending sparks dancing before Zargos's golden eyes. Now isolated, Zargos revealed his true might.
"Hahaha! What's the matter, Morok? Not enjoying the chase?"
BAM! BAM! BAM!
Fiery blows hammered down on Morok in succession, leaving him only able to block and evade, powerless to counter.
"Bastard...!" Morok clenched his jaw, eyes narrowing. "You have no idea the mess you're in! You and your whole clan mean nothing against the Befallen Crown!"
He roared, erecting a shadowy barrier around himself, shoving Zargos airborne.
"Agh... Agh... Agh..." Morok panted raggedly, scorch marks riddling his form, with barely a shred of shadows left.
Prior to his advancement, Zargos would have struggled to match Morok evenly, but their power gap had widened dramatically. He'd triumphed in a 1 vs. 3 skirmish, so Morok alone was doomed.
His sole chance rested on his comrades' aid, which meant overcoming Keranda—and that seemed impossible.
Whoooooooosh.
A figure soared from the flank, shattering broad jungle fronds. Moments later, another form hurtled from the same path.
Two corpses landed close to Morok, right in his view.
His complexion drained of color.
The burly man bore no wounds save for his chest cavity ripped open, exposing shattered ribs from the vicious yank.
The woman endured a far graver end. Nearly all her bones lay fractured, her neck wrenched so severely that skin split apart.
Death claimed them both. Their auras had faded entirely, beyond any rescue.
Step. Step. Step.
Solemn footfalls resounded nearby as Keranda's outline emerged.
Her breaths came even and composed, blood streaking her features, eyes like glacial steel.
She viewed these two not as worthy rivals. To her, it resembled slaying wild animals—or worse, eradicating vermin.
"So, what next, Morok?" she queried. "I'm certain my brother retains plenty of vigor, while you're fading fast. Even solo, he'll reduce you to cinders."
Morok scowled, recognizing the harsh truth.
Luckily, as squad leader, he possessed a unique asset.
'I must deploy it for getaway. Screw the rest. I gave it my all!'
