Endless Evolution: Last Star Chapter 1540 1540: Azure Rush
Previously on Endless Evolution: Last Star...
The Stone Demons acted like total cowards, mainly attempting to overpower Adam and Alexia with tricks and mirages.
In stark contrast, the Red Demon seemed utterly unlike them. Adam needed just an instant to sense that this beast was genuinely perilous.
On top of that, the Red Demon possessed a single horn, and judging by all they'd witnessed in the second trial, it appeared to be the vital piece needed to unlock the gate.
Thus, he readied himself for a genuine clash, far from the simple pummeling they'd inflicted on the frail Stone Demons that just faked their might.
But...
Alexia harbored different intentions.
"You want to take him on one versus one?" Adam questioned, his tone laced with skepticism. He doubted his own ability to solo the Red Demon with ease, leaving him uncertain about Alexia's prospects.
Alexia nodded firmly.
"Exactly because you questioned it, I won't retreat now. Truth is, Adam, it bugs me that I've been the backup in our partnership these days. It's high time I prove to you that I'm no weaker!"
Inside, Adam resisted the idea of consenting. He firmly thought the Red Demon held enough strength to badly hurt Alexia. Should that occur, advancing toward the Third Grand Star's demands would grow far tougher for them.
Yet, only one path lay open to him.
Step. Step. Step.
Adam retreated a few paces and pressed his back to the pillar, adopting a casual pose. He folded his arms across his torso and flashed a grin.
"Fine, I get it. Now you've got to smash him flat, or I'll rib you about this forever! Hahaha!"
"Pffft!" Alexia huffed, rolling her eyes. "That's hardly the support I hoped for from my partner, but honestly, I didn't anticipate more from you."
Regardless, the moment for banter ended as the Red Demon advanced. His massive body traversed the shadowy chamber, with a fleeting sparkle catching in the mirrors.
Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.
Crimson energy surges poured into his limb, charging his knuckles with force potent enough to hurl the ice worm airborne in one strike.
"Ghahahah!" The Red Demon laughed ominously, already tasting triumph.
What threat did this tiny female pose? She struggled to master her own chill that bound her limbs!
Maybe those were the Red Demon's thoughts right before launching his blow.
Whoooooooosh.
The enormous knuckles crashed into the floor, rattling the mirror chamber. Fissures spiderwebbed over the ground, and chunks of it splintered into floating slabs hurled away by the blast.
But...
"AH?"
The Red Demon's eyes fluttered in surprise as he noticed Alexia absent beneath his strike. Worse, she'd vanished entirely from sight.
Moments later, the Red Demon dropped his stare, detecting the chill rising from beneath.
That's when he spotted Alexia, her hand pressed against his torso.
"Maybe I misjudged you, and you're as deceitful as the rest of these demons..." she murmured, frosty vapor billowing from her frame.
The Red Demon attempted to pull away, but Alexia activated too swiftly.
The fierce azure creature morphed into a unified surge of power, racing like ancient freeze along her limb and erupting from her hand in one focused burst.
A blaze of light crossed her vision, and in no time, the scene shifted to frozen chill. Within this domain, she reigned supreme.
Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.
The glacial beam, akin to a ray from a chilled celestial body, bored through the Red Demon's torso and exploded outward in a mighty stream.
The vaults and columns gained a heavy frost coating, matching the surroundings, until the strain proved overwhelming and they crumbled into frozen wreckage.
Adam's gaze stretched wide as he shielded his face with his palms against the onslaught of freeze and flakes surging his way from Alexia's sole assault.
Seconds passed before Adam uncovered his eyes to survey the aftermath.
The whole mirror chamber lay blanketed in dense frost, icicles dangled from above, and the zone before Alexia stood in ruins, blanketed in powdery remnants.
Alexia, suspended just off the surface, gradually glanced back as their stares connected.
Her gaze remained serene and profound like timeless freeze, mirroring the might she'd unleashed.
The towering bulk looming over her toppled to the earth, sporting a vast gap in its midsection.
Rumble!
With a thunderous impact, the Red Demon met his doom. His eyes bulged in shock, echoing the terror from Alexia's strike.
Her freeze had swallowed him whole, transforming him into a colossal frozen figure.
The gory tear proved unnecessary, for the Red Demon perished prior. It served merely as a stark showcase of Alexia's prowess, proving she could fell a dozen such foes if demanded.
"Haaa..."
Alexia released a frosty breath while shutting her eyes.
Her presence dimmed rapidly, reverting to its usual state as she ceased levitating.
"Alexia!"
Adam dashed ahead without delay, scooping her up before she hit the ground.
"I... I'm okay... No need to shout so loud," she muttered.
Even so, she failed to conceal the pleased grin on her lips. Her pride in that strike shone through too brightly.
"Did you catch that? That's just a sliver of my full potential!" Alexia declared with energy, despite barely managing to stay upright.
This drew only a wry grin from Adam.
"Huh, right, that was barely 1% of your real strength, yeah?"
"Well," she placed her arms across her chest. "You know how humble I am. Perhaps 2%, no, just 1.5%! Yeah, that fits better!"
Adam chuckled while eyeing the Red Demon, or more precisely, its throbbing horn.
'At last, the second trial wraps up. Tsk, this Ancient Voice brings endless hassle, but onward we go.'
