Endless Debt Chapter 1638 - 122: The World’s Wager_4
Previously on Endless Debt...
Bologue’s expression was grim as he said, "We’ve fallen into a death loop..."
Just as Bologue was constantly worried, the might of several Seekers of Glory came from high above. As he raised his head, on the other end of the Dark Iron Curtain, the advancing storm-like giant gradually broke through the cloud cover. Although greatly diminished by the Angry Sea’s natural barrier, the outline of the airflow could still be discerned.
Within the clouds, the Seekers of Glory clashed continuously, with Fuen, Holt, and others battling the Regent King.
Unlike these old relics, they were genuinely Seekers of Glory in the combat sequence. The shocking Ether reaction tugged at the Ether between heaven and earth, fueling the overlap of the two realms.
Bologue’s heart sank completely. He understood clearly that he had no power to stop the invasion of the Ethereal Realm. Then, when he looked again at the Butcher’s Pit, amidst the unexpected assault of the Undead Legion, it had instead turned into the main battlefield where monstrous fiends rejoiced.
A bizarre buzzing echoed in Bologue’s ears, and in front of him, the light cluster further narrowed the distance between reality and illusion, backed by a massive Ether.
"Retreat!"
Bologue shouted, commanding the giant stone petals beneath him to move out.
In the next instant, reality seemed to shatter. Familiar scenes twisted and distorted as an unfathomable power surged from an unknown dimension.
On a blood-soaked battlefield, another eerie atmosphere pervaded, arcs flickering in midair like meteors in the night sky. Frost rose from the ground as if a dead world was coming back to life, covering everything. A hurricane raged in, its sound like the wailing of Hell, ripping through the order of the real world.
Bologue led the crowd to evade the expansion of the light cluster, while the Undead showed no hesitation, bestowed with eternal life. Regardless of the deadly environment, it had little impact on them, focusing solely on slaughter, offering up blood and flesh.
Amidst the overlap, space was no longer static, it undulated like a skin that intermittently bulged and sank, rendering objects once thought indestructible as fragile as grains of sand. Ruins, corpses, even the earth, all warped and twisted under its effect, then dissolved into nothingness.
Bright light cast the shadows of monsters into dark savagery. Among the fallen corpses, the Blood and Flesh Plague had been fully nurtured, with the Ethereal nourishment, triggering the Extraordinary Disaster: Eternal Rotting Land. The broken Bloodthirsty ones consumed and spewed brown spores, rising to their feet once more.
Ether surged abruptly, the heavens and earth roiled.
The sky seemed to transform into a vast canvas, endlessly shifting images, intertwining darkness and light. Strange textures appeared within the clouds, resembling mystical runes or the totems of unknown creatures. Ether scattered into a myriad of stars traversing the sky, like phantoms in the night, emitting cold radiance.
The light cluster continued to rise like a tidal wave, even the towering giant found itself increasingly submerged. Yet atop the uplifted debris, the flag bearer stubbornly shook the banner, while dwarves sounded sharp military trumpets.
Before the overlap point spread further, Bologue successfully led the people to safety. Looking again towards Butcher’s Pit, the expansion of the overlap point was somewhat contained, but the overlap between the Material Realm and the Ethereal Realm was irreversible.
The surrounding area outside Butcher’s Pit was entirely affected by the overlap, reality of the entire Royal City slipping uncontrollably into the Ethereal Realm. Amid this disaster, the Dark Void gently rose, boosted by Ethereal Amplification and the chaos of reality, the Night King’s power slowly breaking free of its cage.
"A new problem, this damned Night King, what do we do now?"
Bologue swung his sword, decapitating a Bloodthirsty. They were already noticed by these monsters from their location, with Ether amplifying everyone, even the Blood and Flesh Plague within the Bloodthirsty was strengthened, causing the spilled blood to squirm fiercely in midair.
"Unclear, at least let’s deal with these guys first!"
Hinda continuously pulled the trigger, each shot shattering a skull. Yet with the spread of the Extraordinary Disaster: Eternal Rotting Land, her slaughter became futile.
Bologue looked towards Serey, hoping the Night Race Lord had some solution, but he simply stood beside Olivia, solemnly watching the ever-expanding darkness.
Serey spoke, "He’s reawakening."
As reality collapsed, a vast and heavy curtain of darkness began rapidly spreading around, pouring like a waterfall down invisible steps.
Under this wave of darkness, all sounds were swallowed, leaving only pervasive silence.
The noise of the band quickly disappeared, replaced by an overwhelming, suffocating silence more unsettling than any noise, just as Bologue and the others had faced before.
Serey suddenly said, "Perhaps this is the difference between Aisha and me."
Bologue looked at Serey in confusion, not understanding why he was saying nonsense at such a time. Serey paid no heed, continuing, "I was born an Undead, while she became one. My life has transcended the confinement of death from the start, unlike Aisha."
Serey seemed to be enlightening himself, his eyes shining, "Yes, for me, being undead is a normal state. I’ve grown accustomed to it, perhaps even a bit numb."
