Endless Debt Chapter 1465 - 49: Thunderstorm (Part 2)
Previously on Endless Debt...
From the outside, with the growing rock spikes working in tandem with the explosions of the Ethereal Blades, a gigantic breach was torn open at the midsection of the High Tower. According to the laws of physics, it should have completely collapsed, yet after tilting halfway over, it miraculously froze in midair.
No miracle had occurred; it was a group of Condensers from the Commanding School who had stabilized the tower’s collapse.
Looking outside again at this moment, Bologue saw no Condensers closing in, but he could sense hundreds, thousands of Ether reactions rushing rapidly in this direction.
Countless Condensers were calling upon countless Ether; in an instant, the Ether density here climbed sharply, and under the reality-twisting of the Condensers, the Material Realm became riddled with cracks, unable to bear the strain.
"Careful!"
Palmer cried out, disturbing the airflow and once again forming a deflecting spherical wall of air, right as wave after wave of cold metal fragments tore through the sky.
It was like facing a machine-gun position head-on, endless steel raking the two of them in a ceaseless baptism.
For an ordinary person, this single offensive would be enough to smash a body of flesh and blood into mist, but unfortunately, the enemy’s Tier wasn’t high; from a rough sense, they were merely Prayer Believers.
"How annoying."
Bologue raised his hand in a halting gesture. For a moment, the speeding metal fragments slowed, then froze in midair. Bologue then made a punching motion, his fist acting like a firing pin, slamming into the primers of the metal fragments.
The unknown Prayer Believers first lost Control over the metal fragments, and then the projectiles turned their points around, counterattacking at an even greater speed.
After a series of deafening impacts, Bologue faintly heard anguished wails, but his heart remained utterly calm. He would not take the initiative to slaughter the weak; however, when these people threw themselves at him, Bologue did not mind sending them on their way.
Once again Commanding an explosively growing rock spike, Bologue hoped this time to destroy the High Tower in one fell swoop and trigger large-scale chaos so he could slip away. Even if he couldn’t demolish it, as long as he could pin down more of the enemy’s power, it would still be worth it.
"This technique is pretty good. Is it passed down in your family?"
After temporarily dealing with the immediate trouble, Bologue felt the airflow swirling around him and asked Palmer.
"That’s right. It’s like a Wind Gun that compresses air to pierce through targets—we call this Wind Walk." Palmer introduced it, eyes bright with excitement.
Powerful streams of air wrapped Bologue’s body, drastically reducing his air resistance and in turn granting him greater speed. At the same time, these high-speed air currents partially deflected incoming projectiles, slightly twisting their trajectories and thereby protecting the target.
Bologue nodded in approval. After Palmer’s promotion to a Negative Power User, his strength had grown significantly once more.
The same was true for Bologue.
Breaking out of the High Tower, the two of them were immediately exposed on a devastated plaza. The Condensers who had prepared an ambush had yet to launch their attack when they suddenly realized in terror that the Ether around them no longer answered their call. Next, that Ether turned on them like blades and spears, launching a fierce assault against their Rectangular Soul Critical.
This was not the Silence or Prohibition of the Origin School; it was merely Bologue’s Secret Energy.
Secret Energy·Summoning Country.
The Negative Power User Tier is a watershed. Once promoted to a Negative Power User, a Condenser gains the ability of Etherealization, and as their Tier continues to rise, the Etherealization of their body gradually strengthens—this marks the beginning of ascension.
After advancing to Defender, an individual likewise gains an entirely new trait: the Secret Energy Field. Within a certain range around their body, this region becomes their own domain, their territory, thereby allowing their Secret Energy to be unleashed further.
The most perfect manifestation of this effect is the Illusion Creation School’s "Fantasy Becoming Reality," that is, the formation of a Fantasy Species.
After the time-axis-disordering incident, Bologue had carefully studied information regarding Fantasy Species. Among it, the region a Fantasy Species can affect is essentially the range of its original Secret Energy Field back when it was still in the Condensation stage.
Just like the Devil’s territory in the human world, a Defender’s Field can likewise allow their Secret Energy to temporarily break through the bonds of its upper limit and trigger true miracles.
Now, not only had these Condensers stepped into Bologue’s Secret Energy range, they had further stepped into the influence of his Field. The rampaging Ether, like piranhas, gnawed and chewed through their Rectangular Soul Critical.
Bologue swept his gaze with contempt over those terrified faces. Immediately afterward, in his sight, they bloomed like fireworks, exploding into clouds of blood mist.
The stench of blood spread. Bologue made a grasping motion; the blood rain that had splashed into the air before hitting the ground condensed together, forming a scarlet ribbon several meters long that floated toward Bologue, circling around his body before finally solidifying into a jagged suit of scarlet Armor.
Palmer knew Bologue was strong, but when he saw those shriveled, drained corpses, he still couldn’t help but swallow hard. Even Olivia, hiding within the shadows, couldn’t help but praise Bologue.
"If you’d lived in the era of the Eternal Night Empire, you would have made an excellent executioner," Olivia said. "Not wasting a single drop of blood—those big shots would have liked you very much."
Bologue felt no pride from Olivia’s praise; on the contrary, he became even more vigilant, raising Grudgebite in front of him.
These Low Tier Condensers were just an appetizer. The truly High Tier Condensers who could threaten Bologue were striding toward this place.
Bologue could sense that rapidly approaching Defender.
All of a sudden, heaven and earth dimmed by a fraction. A streak of blazing white light flashed into existence, moving so fast that by the time it reached Bologue’s eyes, he hadn’t made even the slightest counteraction—and only then did he belatedly perceive the Ether reaction on it.
Seeker of Glory.
A feint. This was a feint—using the Defender to draw his attention, while the real killing blow came from a Seeker of Glory a thousand miles away.
From Palmer’s point of view, at first his perception was the same as Bologue’s: the world suddenly darkened for an instant, and in the next second a streak of light pierced straight through Bologue.
It mercilessly shattered Palmer’s gale defense, ripped and tore Bologue’s blood Armor to pieces. The broken shards of blood Armor, losing the constraints of Command, all reverted into liquid blood spraying in every direction, as if they had exploded from Bologue’s own body.
Bologue crashed heavily to the ground, an unbearable pain welling from his chest—yet the next moment, it turned completely numb. His flesh and blood had been charred; the ghastly wound had almost pierced straight through his heart.
On the brink of death, Bologue’s sense of time grew sluggish. Following the path of that streak of light, he saw a blurry figure at the very edge of his vision, and only then did he belatedly realize that this wasn’t some streak of light, but an Ether lightning bolt.
The Duke of Origin, while maintaining his suppression over Holt and the others, had casually cast out a bolt of Ether lightning. Seeing Bologue grievously wounded and collapsing, he couldn’t help but smile.
"A clean hit," the smile faded from his face as he lamented, "it’s just a pity it hit an Undead."
Not even a second after hitting the ground, Bologue sprang up like a compressed spring. At the same time, walls surged up from the earth, as if a maze were being erected on the spot, hiding his figure from sight.
"That Undead is not of much use, but I hear the Devils are very interested in him. As for the other one... if we can’t capture him alive, then kill him."
The Duke of Origin gave his orders. "I very much look forward to what kind of expression Fuen will have when he’s faced with the pain of losing his son."
After giving these commands, the Duke of Origin understood that his top priority was to escort Holt and the others together with the Spirit Duke. Such High Tier Condensers were an exceedingly valuable resource.
As for Bologue...
The Duke of Origin raised his hand again, and strands of terrifying Ether lightning manifested out of thin air.
When the Low Tier Condensers had stepped into Bologue’s Field, Bologue himself had likewise stepped into the Duke of Origin’s Field. It was just that, under the blessing of Aurora Power, the Duke of Origin’s Field was too vast—so vast that Bologue never realized it.
A chaotic thunderstorm churned above Bologue’s head.
