Olivia reveals her ability to influence lower-tier Night Race members through her bloodline purity, comparing it to hypnosis. Bologue probes further, questioning the extent of this power and its use on the Regent King, which Olivia confirms she could have done but wonders if it would have been for the best.

"No, what I mean is, this kind of happiness is fake, once you’ve used this power," Olivia was momentarily at a loss for words, "it’s like... it’s like a game of cheating. I can make anyone fall in love with me, but isn’t that too empty?"

Listening to her voice gradually drop, Bologue asked, "So you’ve done this before, haven’t you? Manipulating others to create a beautiful world for yourself."

It took Olivia a long time to respond, "Yes."

After another pause, she continued, "At first, I was very satisfied; everyone loved me. But later I realized it was like a carefully staged play. The happiness and beauty I felt were all fake, just a bunch of empty shells... What does it mean to be loved by such things?"

"That’s why you didn’t restrain the Regent King; you tried to obtain that pure emotion from him," Bologue’s voice gradually sank, "What happened afterward, we all know."

Bologue’s thoughts drifted back to Ewen, reminded of how, in the authenticity of emotions, Ewen and Olivia were equally stubborn.

No, Ewen was much crazier than Olivia; after all, he fell in love with a Devil.

Olivia hugged her knees and curled up, as if asleep or lost in thought. Bologue looked at the blurred outline, guessing that in terms of age, Olivia should be much older than him. From a conventional understanding, she was already a witch who had lived for a long time.

But Olivia’s body and mind remained young, like an unfortunate child trapped in familial shadows all along. She tried to save herself but caused more trouble. Bologue felt an inexplicable familiarity.

"You remind me of someone," Bologue said.

"Who?"

"Aimou."

"Your girlfriend?"

"Yes."

"What’s wrong?"

Olivia’s eyes brightened. She seemed always eager to conquer Bologue in certain ways to prove her charm, "Does she have something in common with me?"

"There are indeed similarities," Bologue replied earnestly, "Like you, she caused a huge mess due to some family reasons."

Olivia’s smile froze.

"But compared to you, her trouble is hardly a problem," Bologue changed his posture, clasping his resentful bite, "You are a residual issue from the Eternal Night Empire, and the person capable of dealing with these things has always been dodging... Never mind, I don’t like dividing responsibilities afterward; that’s the judge’s job.

What experts should do is control everything before things further deteriorate."

Bologue abruptly stood up and walked to the window; his pupils pressed closely to the glass, peering toward the towering High Tower at the center.

"We are not just a mission group but also an investigative team. As long as we find links between the All Secrets Order and the Night Race, we have reason to take compulsory measures against the Order Bureau."

Bologue’s eyes fell on Olivia, as if sharp needles pierced her skin, "And you, Olivia, you came following the Regent King’s trail; with your noble bloodline, you are an incredibly precise radar for the Night Race."

"Tomorrow, we will probably go into that Supreme Hub to meet the so-called Ancestral Council. I will find an opportunity to withdraw and investigate the Supreme Hub. I need your assistance."

Olivia was somewhat frightened by Bologue’s focused demeanor, "What if we get discovered?"

"Ossana will cover for us; she’s said so much, ultimately hoping to leverage our strength to strike against opposing forces within the All Secrets Order. She won’t miss this opportunity."

Bologue seemed to think of something interesting. He turned around, a faint light passing by him, casting his figure as a pitch-black shadow.

"It seems I have quite a few helpers."

It took Olivia a few seconds to realize that she had always been a tool in Bologue’s eyes to achieve his goals. She couldn’t help but feel a bit dazed; this was no longer about doubting her charm but about doubting whether Bologue was even normal.

"Have you always been like this? Do you have no personal desires at all?" Olivia couldn’t help but ask. Bologue always brought rounds of frustration to her.

"I’m just very rational, separating personal desires from work."

Bologue looked at Olivia sitting on the sofa, unable to deny that even shrouded in a layer of hazy black gauze, he could still perceive Olivia’s stunning appearance from that vague beauty. But it was only a visual astonishment; his heart remained as calm as dead water.

"Contrarily, why do you always try to test me?" Bologue placed his hands on the sword hilt, stabbing the sword into the ground, "Do you think that by conquering me, you gain some sense of value and self-identity?"

Bologue sighed lightly, "How pitiful."

How pitiful.

Bologue’s words pierced Olivia’s heart like a sharp knife; this mockery of the soul was far more cruel than physical pain. Her whole body instantly tensed, and a faint intent to kill accompanied by an overflow of blood seemed like, in the next second, she would pull out a Dagger and fight with Bologue.

"What? Did I hit a sore spot?" Bologue was indifferent to Olivia’s feelings.

"This behavior of yours isn’t rational."

Olivia quickly calmed herself, realizing this might just be Bologue’s way of testing her.

"I highly value rationality, but that doesn’t mean everything has to be viewed rationally; that’s too rigid," Bologue explained again, "I just wanted to simply scold you."

"Why?" Olivia asked, baffled by the scolding.

"Your way of living, Olivia," Bologue said, "You crave recognition, validation of self-worth from others; this habit has become your instinct, just as you acted towards me just now."

Bologue suddenly stepped forward, standing in front of Olivia, looking down, "What kind of reaction did you hope I’d have just now?"

Olivia was momentarily speechless, unsure of what to say. She thought Bologue was a cold and rigid person, but now he seemed incredibly assertive, like a heavy rock pressing on her chest, making it hard to breathe.

Bologue bent down; they were very close, almost as if they were about to kiss.

"Did you hope I’d be tempted by your charm, do something out of character, verbally submit to you, just for a little favor from you? Or was it that, without relying on the power of bloodline, you hoped your mere existence would shake my mind?"

Bologue suddenly reached out and placed his hand on Olivia’s thigh. The delicate texture of the black gauze caressed the palm, followed by a cold touch. Bologue noticed that the Night Race’s body temperature was much lower than ordinary people, as if they were cold corpses.

"Oh, you’ve conquered Bologue, another person bows before you. And then what? Olivia, you’ve done it, and then what?"

Bologue’s wrist applied force, kneading as if to twist off Olivia’s thigh, his voice became even lower, carrying a terrifying aggressiveness.

"Tell me, Olivia, and then what?"

"Get away!"

Olivia was pushed to the brink, pushing Bologue away. Bologue stepped back a few steps, raising his hands as if surrendering, with a smile on his face.

"See, Olivia, you never really think about what’s next. You just simply enjoy this process to satisfy your fragmented heart, to enjoy this minuscule sense of existence."

Olivia’s eyes welled with mist. She curled up on the sofa, one hand covering where Bologue had just kneaded, the other silently gripping a Dagger.

"What exactly are you trying to say?"

"What I’m trying to say is, there are many ways to gain self-identity and a sense of existence. You don’t need to survive using these means; it’s very unhealthy," Bologue explained.

"Or have you become used to living like this? Becoming a parasite on others’ fates?"

"Shut up."

Olivia stood up and walked into the shadows; Bologue had worn away her last bit of interest.

"In this regard, you are indeed quite similar to Serey, but Serey is more excessive," Bologue recalled the women Serey had conquered and whispered, "so Serey is sicker than you."

No more responses came from the shadows. Bologue returned to the sofa, and after a period of dead silence, he spoke again.

"Goodnight."
