Endless Debt Chapter 1346 - 106: Turmoil of Strife (Part 4)
Previously on Endless Debt...
The intertwining of flames and darkness reflected the twisted figures of the walking dead. Behind them were the bloodthirsty ones armed with ramshackle metal, these vile creations of the Night Race injected with raging potions in their systems. Thanks to the Blood of the Night Race, flames could hardly harm them.
As for sunlight, the pervasive ashes and dust had long obscured the light, leaving only the Order Bureau and the monsters locked in a deadly struggle in the dimness.
Evan slowly drew his sword. He doubted that his team members could withstand this charge. These monsters would scatter their formation, leading to a bloody melee.
The high-ranking night creatures hiding would also act at this time. They would certainly find ways to kill him first. As long as he could hold them back, there was still a chance for a turnaround.
"What a pity..."
Evan glanced at the Silver Ring on his fingertip. Evan had worn it for many years; even if it had no special meaning, it had become special now.
The Silver Ring scraped firmly against the blade. Evan hoped that some silver shavings would remain on the blade and be driven into the heart of a high-ranking night creature.
The spitting tongues of flame extinguished one after another, some due to depleted fuel, others because the enemies had closed in. The frontline was in chaos, just as Evan imagined; after waves of impact, the line still collapsed.
One shadowy figure after another moved silently past the crowd. They had pairs of bewitching, ruby-like eyes. Evan wanted to gouge out these eyes and hang them in his bedroom as trophies.
"Gotten too comfortable, haven’t we?"
Evan rolled his shoulders, and the glow of the Alchemy Matrix lit up his body. He was ready for a death-defying battle.
Step, roar, charge.
The high-pitched ether surged and surrounded his body. Evan’s gaze was piercing as he swung his sword toward the enemy crowd. The high-ranking night creatures also unleashed their power, and the two streams of ether collided, erupting into a series of fierce arcs.
Just as the intense battle was about to erupt, a powerful ripple descended from mid-air, abruptly interrupting the fight. Evan and the high-ranking night creatures couldn’t help but stop, seeing the space around them begin to twist. Cracks appeared out of nowhere, shattering like a mirror.
Curved Path Breakthrough.
Without any warning, a group of fully armed Field Staff, via the Observation Tower, forcibly breached the chaotic ether flow on the battlefield, carrying out a long-distance Curved Path Breakthrough.
From the insignias on their shoulders, Evan recognized the reinforcements.
Ninth Group, Atheists.
Once his senses returned to normal from the distortion, the leader of the Ninth Group, Carnegie, swept his steely gaze over all the enemies and ordered.
"Execute on the spot."
...
After many days, Nesanel once again arrived at this mysterious location, where countless voices whispered in the shadows.
"The Sixth Group has arrived on the battlefield."
"The Ninth Group has arrived on the battlefield."
"The area seal is complete."
"Proceed to the next step in forecasting."
"Calculations begin."
Nesanel had grown accustomed to these voices. Wherever his gaze fell, there were blurry silhouettes on the edges of shadow and light. They wore diverse masks, entirely oblivious to Nesanel’s arrival, focused only on exchanging information with one another.
In this dense crowd, a familiar figure sat among them, her face covered by a gorgeous bronze mask.
Maria of the Iron Tree and Steel Branches.
The murmuring figures were like her think tank. After conducting numerous analyses and speculations, they conveyed the compiled information to Maria, who then made the final decision, like a central brain.
The air turned stifling. Nesanel walked up to Maria, slowly kneeling on one knee.
Lowering his head, when Nesanel looked up again, countless figures had vanished.
In the supreme shadow, only a vast creature entwined with machinery and flesh remained standing like a grotesque idol. At this moment, it had unfolded most of its body, with countless masks hanging over its flesh. Accompanied by the flickering of faint lights, they resembled stars across the sky.
