Endless Debt Chapter 1313 - 97: Upheavals on All Sides
Previously on Endless Debt...
Gray Stone Rift, a massive scar extending from the Great Rift, splitting the city open. It was supposed to heal, but now fresh blood flowed again from under the scar, heavy with flames.
The Flame Demons rampaged through Gray Stone Town, the fire mercilessly spreading, with thick black smoke filling the sky, shrouding the entire rift, completely blocking out sunlight and hope.
In this murky darkness, house after house was consumed by fire, unleashing fierce flames and scorching smoke. The fire raged fiercely and swiftly, like demonic claws reaching every corner, turning the peaceful town into a burning hell in the blink of an eye.
People ran through the streets, watching helplessly as their homes were engulfed. They screamed in despair, their cries mingling with the firelight, piercing the air with their fear and hopelessness.
Everything in the fire’s path was unforgivingly consumed; sparks flew, flames licked metal and wood, transforming a thriving area into a wasteland in no time. Residents fled in all directions in front of the fire, desperately seeking a way to escape. But the expanding fire and smoke left them bewildered and lost. Some were trapped inside the burning buildings, calling for rescue but ultimately swallowed by the flames.
In this hopeless hell, grim shadows were cast by the fire, and at the end of those shadows were a few scattered figures, facing this brutal scene without fear, instead chatting casually.
"I’ve only seen scenes like this in movies before."
The Calamity Servant, Yidir, stood at a high point not yet overtaken by the flames, marveling at the hellish scene below.
Gray Stone Town was full of the Order Bureau’s informants, making a swift escape from here not an easy feat, though it wasn’t entirely impossible either.
As Hammer, the Crimson Bishop, nodded in agreement, he saw a twisted, damaged, and burning locomotive in the ruins. It crashed through several buildings like a cannonball and finally came to a stop at the town square.
Retracing the path of the locomotive’s impact, one could see burning, shattered carriages along the way, with twisted metal frameworks showing traces of repeated explosions.
Among the wreckage was a carriage that hadn’t yet exploded; its door hung ajar, with stored fuel dripping out, quickly forming a large puddle on the ground.
Yidir, nearby, looked at it with some anticipation. Then, amid the creaking collapse, a spark floated down, quietly landing in the puddle and disappearing.
Yidir was a bit disappointed, but in the next second, a chain of flames quickly shot up on the surface of the water. Like fire snakes, they turned and rushed into the carriage. Yidir’s heart tightened, and after a moment of silence, another booming explosion rose within the sea of fire.
The impact ripples sent forth scorching waves of flames, the burning wind once again sweeping across, expanding the fire’s range, nearly burning through the entire rift. Countless silhouettes ran amidst the firelight, lamenting as they struggled to find a way out.
Yidir covered his mouth and nose, the scorching air making it hard to breathe. He turned around, trying hard to make his voice clearer.
"What should we do next?"
Hammer also turned his head, looking at the mysterious third person.
"Next?"
Amidst the thick smoke, a sinister figure broke through the barrier, gazing with blood-red eyes. Even in such a scorching environment, Yidir and Hammer couldn’t help but feel a slight chill within.
"You just need to follow my orders."
The Regent King looked to the other side of Gray Stone Town, at an elevator used for quick communication with the outside world, which was similarly engulfed in flames, like a towering pillar of fire. At the top edge of the cliff, twisted, red-hot tracks protruded over the edge.
Gray Stone Town was a gateway, and the Regent King chose the most violent way to open it: sending a train filled with fuel, Red Mercury, and other explosives speeding off the tracks, turning it into a self-destructing train that blew up most of Gray Stone Town.
No matter what kind of arrangements the Order Bureau had made here, they probably couldn’t react quickly enough to such an attack.
Under the cover of the thick smoke, many silhouettes appeared within the fiery sea. Like the Regent King, they possessed a pair of soul-piercing crimson eyes.
Hammer warily eyed the suddenly appearing Night Race, and then they pounced on the surviving people like beasts, tearing at their throats. Many people died, but many were also turned by the Night Race. Unfortunately, at this point, the purity of their bloodline had deteriorated too much, and even though many of those on the brink of death came back to life, they still turned into mindless Bloodthirsty.
The Night Race spread like a plague, and in just a few more minutes, they could raise another army of Bloodthirsty.
"Where are your people?"
The Regent King asked Hammer, "This is a joint operation, after all. You wouldn’t want to disappoint the lady, would you?"
Hammer’s expression was tense for a moment, but he quickly relaxed, flashing a mysterious smile, remaining silent.
Before meeting the Regent King, Hammer had already implemented a series of operations in Gray Stone Town, but during that operation, he encountered Bologue and was firmly defeated.
However, Hammer did not give up. It should be noted that he had previously failed in the internal struggles of the Crimson Sect, leaving him with few opportunities. That was until he met the Regent King, and just a few hours ago, he suddenly received a direct order from the lady.
