Endless Debt Chapter 1093 - 116: Wolf Spirit (Part 3)
Previously on Endless Debt...
Instantly, the Red Dog’s song intensified, striking down many staff who hadn’t retreated in time under Bologue.
As a Negative Power User, Geoffrey himself was reeling from the terrifying impact. At this moment, not only could he not continue releasing Secret Energy, but his trembling hands could barely cling to the Bone-breaking Knife.
Wails echoed relentlessly.
“They’re almost all dead,” Lebius stated coldly.
“Them? Who are you referring to?” The Red Dog spun his Immovable Sword, the wind whistling around it. “Oh? You mean those who came with me? Do you think I’d care about them?”
As the Red Dog spoke, the Ether surged higher, and the crowd’s cries grew louder. Hearing their laments, the Red Dog let out a hoarse laugh, as if deriving pleasure from their agony.
Some King’s Secret Sword members who had fallen nearby and couldn't retreat began to inflict self-harm in their extreme pain. Like mad cultists, they wielded blades without restraint, plunging them deep into their own bodies.
“Red Dog... the sixth seat...”
Supplications arose, begging the Red Dog to lift the Secret Energy, at least to allow them to escape.
However, the Red Dog acted as if he hadn't heard. For all these years, he had lived in shadows, in a waking nightmare, and now, he wanted everyone else to experience the same torment.
“Hold on, my friends,”
The Red Dog jeered, “It’s just a game!”
In this gruesome game, people frantically tore at their own flesh. Malicious erosion and pathological collapse condensed and spread within their bodies and minds, like a localized black hole.
One person’s eyes became bloodshot. Clutching a knife, as death bloomed, he ruthlessly slashed his own wrist. Chaotic blood rippled in his eyes, his anguish and sorrow swallowed by the spreading death, a belated calm descending.
Others used hammers and clubs to pound their bodies, frantically ripping at their own muscles and tendons until they could no longer endure.
Within this dark ritual, they madly consumed their own flesh and souls, sacrificing their lives and spirits.
Meanwhile, the Ether intensity from the Red Dog gradually climbed higher.
“I’ve never understood your Secret Energy,” Lebius murmured.
In the secret war, besides Lebius and Geoffrey, all who fought the Red Dog had perished, and records of his Secret Energy were scarce.
“You’re about to understand.”
The Red Dog chuckled gleefully. The more his Heart-devouring Song affected people, the more he drew strength from their agonizing cries, thereby enhancing himself.
He was like a storm of death, sweeping everyone into its path, obliterating all vitality.
Thus, the Red Dog never cared whether he was extinguishing the life of an enemy or a King’s Secret Sword member; it made no difference to him.
Their spirits seemed utterly consumed, and the pleas gradually faded. People tore at their own flesh, gripping their kidneys, spontaneously creating red sores, writhing in frenzied spasms, emitting guttural sounds saturated with pathology from their throats.
Their bodies were covered in deep cracks and blood, as if transformed into a garden of agony. Their bodies and souls were utterly ravaged by the strange and cruel song, their true selves vanishing without a trace.
Lebius moved to Geoffrey’s side, grasping his trembling arm. With a look in Geoffrey’s eyes, he took the heavy Bone-breaking Knife from his palm.
He needed a weapon, a weapon to confront the Red Dog.
Lebius whispered to his companion, “Leave it to me.”
“Lebius, is it worth it?”
A hoarse voice came from Geoffrey. While others were in immense pain, Lebius’s gaze remained crystal clear. Even though he and the Red Dog were Defenders of the same tier, he shouldn’t be this composed.
Amidst extreme pain, Geoffrey’s senses sharpened. He could smell the nauseating scent emanating from Lebius.
Geoffrey wasn’t naive; this was easy to guess... it had been the same long ago.
“Power is merely a tool; it possesses no righteousness or evil. Its nature depends solely on its application,” Lebius stated.
“Don’t let power consume you,” Geoffrey cautioned.
Lebius gripped the Bone-breaking Knife tightly. Suddenly, the Blade-Biting Wolves calmed down, each standing still. The glow of Ether vanished, as if they had died.
All the light converged onto Lebius alone. He knew the wolves posed no threat to the Red Dog. Instead of wasting Ether and Blade-Biting Wolves, it was better to engage in a one-on-one showdown, with Lebius, the leading wolf, personally tearing through the Red Dog’s throat.
“Oh?”
The Red Dog took a deep breath, as if sniffing the sinister aura in the air. He asked with confusion, “Is the Order Bureau the same? Just like the Pillar of Royal Authority?”
As if encountering a kindred spirit, the Red Dog expressed with deep feeling, “I think we should have a lot to talk about.”
“I have no interest in talking to you. I only wish to sever your head,” Lebius replied, his demeanor as cold as ever.
"Lebius, how can you remain steadfast in your beliefs knowing all of this?"
Red Dog incredulously questioned, "Doesn't the absurdity of this world crush you? If you realize that what you fight for is what you truly despise, won't you fall into despair?"
The truth was, the so-called royal authority was propped up by the Devil’s Blessing. Red Dog, having become aware of this hidden truth on the day he pursued glory, had gone mad. He couldn't comprehend how Lebius managed to remain untouched, why he, having received the Devil’s Protection and become a demon, still possessed such clarity in his gaze.
"Red Dog, if this cause alone plunges you into despair, then the spirit you uphold and pledged to safeguard is far too delicate."
Lebius, though not known for his eloquence, always wielded his sarcasm with surgical precision.
"Power is merely a tool, nothing more."
Red Dog's smile faltered, quickly replaced by uncontrollable fury. With a roar, he swung his blade towards Lebius. Lebius, without retreating, gathered all his Spirit Wolves around him, steeling his resolve.
Layer upon layer of light coalesced, forming an illusory giant wolf that enveloped Lebius’s form.
Secret Energy: Wolf Spirit.
Augmented by multiple layers of Secret Energy and Ethereal Amplification, Lebius, in a state of heightened focus, seemed to attain the Extreme Realm through this technique. His form twisted, becoming a blinding streak of light that charged headlong into Red Dog. The following instant, a thunderous resonance and a surge of wind blasted towards the heavens, even carving a void within the dense mist.
A faint glimmer of light emanated from the receding gloom.
