Endless Debt Chapter 1092 - 116: Wolf Spirit (2)
Previously on Endless Debt...
Before long, the surrounding area was cleared by Bologue, with only a handful of individuals remaining.
Mamo, a Seeker of Glory, found himself in a considerably better condition. Possessing a degree of resistance, he was nonetheless in a state of ether exhaustion for the short term, rendering him unable to significantly impact the ongoing battle.
"I cannot leave."
Just as Bologue prepared to escort Balder away, Balder, struggling to his feet, declared, "Someone must stay to protect the Iron Coffin."
Red Dog’s ultimate objective was the Iron Coffin. Its presence meant he was effectively trapped, but besides Lebius, another protector was needed for the Iron Coffin.
It wasn’t that Bologue lacked faith in Lebius; rather, he believed in the necessity of thorough preparations.
"It’s fine," Bologue assured him. "I will guard the Iron Coffin. Your presence here would only hinder me."
Balder remained silent for a moment before nodding his agreement.
"Alright."
There was no point in arguing. Being a Prayer Believer, he was not adept at combat, making Balder’s presence or absence inconsequential to the fight.
"Go and tend to the wounded."
As Bologue spoke, the earth undulated in waves, swiftly conveying Balder away from the conflict zone.
His attention then turned to Mamo. The Seeker of Glory was currently vulnerable. His demise here would undoubtedly be a significant blow to the Order Bureau's morale.
Mamo offered a nod, understanding the unspoken accord. Bologue raised his hand, the ground shifted, lifting Mamo and rapidly transporting him from the battlefield.
Finally, there was Aimou. Bologue intended to send her away as well, but Aimou vehemently shook her head.
"I can assist you with Heart Overlapping Shadow, just as I did before."
Bologue paused, but Aimou resolutely interjected, "I won't delve into your thoughts! Let’s focus on one thing at a time!"
"No… I just…"
Bologue, usually decisive, now seemed indecisive. Aimou took a deliberate step forward and grasped Bologue's hand.
"Just what? Not ready?"
Aimou, holding the initiative, softly addressed Bologue, "Bologue, you were once a soldier. You should grasp these principles far better than I. The world will not afford you ample time to prepare."
"This sounds utterly insane."
Bologue harbored a dislike for indecision. Regardless of any future consequences, resolving the immediate crisis took precedence in his mind.
"Is this truly insane?"
Aimou posed the question. Her hand began to blur, overlapping with Bologue’s until they merged.
It had been a considerable duration since Bologue had operated in concert with Aimou. Since Aimou’s ascension, Bologue had harbored a certain reluctance towards her ability to probe inner depths. There was no time to contemplate this now; Bologue could only adapt.
"This sensation is profoundly peculiar," Bologue mused internally.
"Isn’t this your first experience? What's so peculiar about it?" A voice resonated within his mind.
"Everything feels peculiar… You seem more tangible," Bologue responded. "I can distinctly perceive another soul residing within my being."
"Don’t you appreciate your new companion?" Aimou inquired.
"No… I have simply never been this intimately connected with another person," Bologue replied with calm assertion.
These simple words rendered Aimou momentarily speechless. Bologue, however, remained unaware of this. During their previous overlaps, Aimou consistently maintained silence to avoid unsettling Bologue. Bologue was gradually becoming accustomed to this arrangement.
Aimou’s involvement functioned as a supplementary power source, replenishing Bologue’s ether and enabling him to sustain his combat efforts.
To observers, Bologue's formidable presence stemmed not solely from his abilities or lethal intentions. More significantly, Bologue achieved a state of near-perpetual motion in every conceivable aspect.
The Undying Body prevented his collapse, while the Soul Sucker granted him the capacity to plunder infinite ether. Combined, these attributes allowed Bologue to maintain himself virtually without end.
With Aimou's augmentation, Bologue's power experienced a further surge. The nebulous ether coalesced into a more defined form, as if Bologue could discern the trajectory of each individual strand.
Abruptly, Bologue realized that with Aimou's assistance, he might transcend current limitations and approach that enigmatic Extreme Realm. Regrettably, the present moment was ill-suited for cultivating abilities.
While Bologue was occupied with evacuating others, the intense confrontation between Red Dog and Lebius persisted unabated.
Under the aegis of Protection·Eternal Labor, the Heart-devouring Song proved utterly ineffective against Lebius. Confronting Red Dog's strike from the Extreme Realm, Lebius’s wolf pack struggled valiantly to suppress their formidable opponent.
The conflict settled into a tense stalemate, punctuated by Red Dog’s relentless laughter echoing amidst the fierce exchange.
"Lebius, after all these years, is this the extent of your capabilities?"
Red Dog brandished the Immovable Sword, its Extreme Realm power radiating outwards with alarming speed. As it dispersed the wolf pack, it simultaneously unleashed a shockwave that swept away the surrounding mist and rent the very ground asunder.
Lebius remained resolute, unfazed by the tumultuous impact.
Although he too had ascended to the Defender tier, a considerable disparity remained when compared to Red Dog, who had occupied this level for many years. The Alchemy Armor could only bridge this gap to a limited extent for Lebius.
However, a significant issue arose: if Lebius possessed external advantages, wouldn't Red Dog also have similar resources? The final verdict of this confrontation was still shrouded in ambiguity. Observing Lebius’s unwavering composure, Red Dog harbored a fervent desire to see him unravel into madness once more, mirroring past events. Failing to provoke Lebius directly, Red Dog resolved to target those around him instead.
