Mu Ru Yue is verbally insulted by her father, Mu Qing, who prioritizes his adopted daughter, Mu Ting Er. Mu Ting Er feigns humility while secretly manipulating the Crown Prince, Ye Tian Feng. Mu Qing is angered by Mu Ru Yue's defiance and threatens her. Ye Tian Feng reveals his plan to have Mu Ting Er win a Martial Tournament to gain the Emperor's favor and secure her position as his Main Wife, with the help of a powerful alchemist.

Within a chamber in the western living quarters of the manor, a young girl lay upon the bed, head cradled in her arms, her gaze fixed upon the ceiling. She was occupied with sorting through a deluge of memories that were not her own.

On this continent known as the Martial God Continent, the primary path to power was through the cultivation of Qi; those who practiced this were designated as martial practitioners. The ranking system for these practitioners was quite straightforward. It began with the Houtian Realm, encompassing practitioners from the First to Ninth Stage, and then progressed to the Xiantian Realm for those who had achieved advancement beyond the Nine Martial Stages of the Houtian realm.

Experts within the Xiantian realm were entitled to be addressed as 'monarchs'. It was virtually impossible for a Xiantian expert to emerge from within the royal clan itself, as their limitations were generally confined to the Nine Martial Stages of the Houtian realm.

Consequently, when an individual attained the Xiantian realm, they were regarded as esteemed guests in all nations.

Distinct from the path of a martial practitioner, an alternative profession was that of an alchemist.

The prerequisites for becoming an alchemist were exceedingly stringent. An individual needed to possess not only the aptitude for the fire element but also superior mental fortitude. Only those martial practitioners who met both these criteria were deemed to have the innate gift and talent necessary to embark on the alchemist's journey.

Yet, on this particular continent that placed immense value on martial prowess, the body she now inhabited was deemed worthless. Her meridians were obstructed, rendering her incapable of even reaching the First Martial Stage.

This unfortunate condition also served to confirm her lack of any discernible status within the Mu family.

“My meridians are blocked?” Mu Ru Yue sprang from the bed and assumed a cross-legged posture. She delicately placed a finger on her pulse, her expression progressively darkening. “It appears this body was not naturally deficient. It was rendered this way due to poisoning. The toxin has infiltrated the meridians, impeding the flow of Qi within my body, thereby making cultivation impossible.”

Fortunately, in her previous life in Hua Xia, she had been the successor to a prominent medicinal family, making the task of dealing with this poison relatively simple for her.

“If I had my silver needles readily available, I would be entirely confident in detoxifying my system. However, at present, I can only make do with the sewing needles I have on hand. Employing sewing needles will be significantly more perilous. Should I make even a minor miscalculation, not only will the detoxification fail, but cross-contamination could also occur. Furthermore, sewing needles are shorter, meaning if I were to be careless, the needle might become lodged within my body.”

Nevertheless, she possessed no other viable option at this moment.

To visit a weapon shop and have a silver needle crafted would necessitate a considerable sum of silver coins. Currently, she was so impoverished that she lacked even a single copper coin. It was hard to fathom that the legitimate young mistress of the family was subjected to such dire circumstances.

Fortunately, as she was an unmarried young lady, a plentiful supply of sewing needles was within easy reach.

“The initial phase of acupuncture and moxibustion involves detoxification.”

Gripping a few five-centimeter-long sewing needles, Mu Ru Yue ignited a candle and held the tips of the needles above the flame. After a brief interval, once all the needles glowed red-hot, she then submerged them in clean water.

“This place is not nearly as advanced as Hua Xia. There is no alcohol, nor are there any disinfectants available, so I must resort to the most rudimentary method of sterilization. Yet, this will suffice. Now, for the detoxification process.”

Mu Ru Yue once again sat cross-legged, using two fingers to apply pressure to several acupoints before slowly inserting the sewing needles.

Time elapsed at a languid pace.

Throughout that period, Mu Ru Yue endured immense hardship. The searing pain emanating from her body as it underwent detoxification caused her to furrow her brows and her lips to tremble faintly, while her delicate features were etched with a deathly pallor.

As evening descended, the young girl, while bathing, suddenly opened her sharp eyes. A defiant smile graced her lips, and a transient glimmer flickered within her icy gaze.

“The poison has finally been purged from my system.”

At this juncture, she experienced an unexpected sense of profound relief. Emotions from her former existence resurfaced within her heart. Her smiling countenance intensified, yet her gaze remained as piercingly cold as ever.

“I am not the Mu Ru Yue of this continent, but I am now living in her place. Therefore, I shall gradually bring retribution to those who caused her suffering and indignation.”
