Dual Cultivation Chapter 1140: An Unusual Guest

Previously on Dual Cultivation...
Sect Leader Qing's unexpected appearance at the deathmatch stirred confusion among the sect elders, as she had never attended such events before. As the tension escalated, both Yun Xiao Hong and Su Yang prepared for their life-or-death confrontation. With an Empyrean-grade sword in hand, Yun vowed to deliver a painful defeat to Su Yang, who remained unfazed. The match commenced under the watchful eye of the Sect Leader, and in a shocking turn of events, Su Yang executed a devastating technique that left Yun Xiao Hong incapacitated, revealing the horrifying consequence of underestimating his opponent. The arena fell silent as the spectators grappled with disbelief.

"Is it possible?! Can he truly manifest Sword Will?!" a Sect Elder cried out, jumping to his feet with a face full of shock.

Multiple other Elders rose alongside him, equally paralyzed by the sight. Despite their reluctance to accept it, the evidence had played out right before their eyes. To claim Su Yang lacked Sword Will would demand an alternative theory—yet none of them could provide one.

Still, the idea that a common disciple from the Boundless Yin Yang Sect could command Sword Will—a profound power that even the geniuses of sword-focused Sects found difficult to master—seemed utterly absurd. It contradicted all logic, their personal experiences, and the fundamental laws of the world they knew.

Regrettably, because the Sect lacked a true swordmaster among its ranks, they possessed no way to officially verify Su Yang's level of attainment.

Down on the stage, Yun Xiao Hong desperately gulped down a recovery pill. He was frantic to stabilize his condition, even though doing so was a blatant breach of the match regulations.

Su Yang paid no mind to the violation and simply scoffed, "What a futile effort."

With a casual flick of his blade, he sliced through the air, this time taking both of Yun Xiao Hong's arms.

"Fuck!" Yun Xiao Hong shrieked in agony.

Rather than finishing the deathmatch immediately, Su Yang turned his attention away from the mangled Yun Xiao Hong to address the crowd.

"Pay attention—this is the first and final warning I will give to anyone plotting revenge or looking to harass me and my partner. If you choose to hunt us, prepare for the fallout... and more often than not, that fallout is death."

Having made his point, Su Yang turned his back and started walking away from the dying man. The audience was left in a state of confusion, as Yun Xiao Hong was still breathing, however faintly.

But as Su Yang reached the stage's perimeter, he unleashed his Sword Will once more. From a distance, he cleanly decapitated Yun Xiao Hong, leaving the entire arena in a state of total bewilderment.

Without a backward glance or a care for the judge's official victory announcement, Su Yang exited the stage, his silhouette shrinking in the distance. He did not depart empty-handed, however. With a sharp gesture of his finger, the Empyrean-grade sword previously held by Yun Xiao Hong's severed limb broke free and flew directly into Su Yang's waiting palm.

The spectators remained rooted to their spots long after Su Yang had vanished. They sat there in a daze, their expressions frozen as they tried to make sense of the incredible display they had just seen.

It was beyond their comprehension how a Dual Cultivator as young as Su Yang could have mastered Sword Will. Even more confusing was why a talent of his magnitude would bother with the Boundless Yin Yang Sect when he could easily hold a prestigious position in any of the Divine Heavens' premier sword Sects.

Following the conclusion of the deathmatch, Su Yang made his way back to his residence.

"Welcome home," Lin Xinyi said, greeting him with a serene smile, purposely avoiding any mention of the bloody duel.

"I've returned. Shall we begin our Cultivation?"

Lin Xinyi gave a small nod, and the two entered his private quarters to begin their session.

In the meantime, the Sect remained gripped by the aftershocks of the battle. For the rest of the month, the event served as the primary subject of gossip among all the disciples.

"I can't get over it. We actually have a swordmaster living among us."

"Hah! Swordmaster my foot! I'm certain it was just some elaborate trick!"

Indeed, a portion of the disciples remained doubtful. To them, the reality of the situation was simply too incredible to digest.

"If it was merely a trick, why haven't the Sect Elders exposed him yet?"

"T-That is..."

While the majority of the disciples were preoccupied with rumors of Su Yang's Sword Will, one particular disciple was lost in a different set of thoughts.

'Just what is that Xiao Yang planning?' Disciple Fei chewed her nails nervously, her forehead creased with worry. 'He used my family's specific sword techniques just to bait me... but for what purpose?' She searched her memories, trying to find a reason for his actions.

She thought back to their initial meeting when Su Yang insisted he had no connection to the Ouyang Family. Yet, his masterful execution of their secret techniques suggested that he was lying.

Eventually, Disciple Fei decided that guessing was a waste of breath. She chose to confront Su Yang directly and arrived at his home a few days after the duel.

"Is there something you need?" Mei Ying asked, meeting her at the entrance.

"I am here to see Disciple Xiao Yang."

Mei Ying gave a polite but firm response, "I apologize, but the manager is currently engaged in Cultivation with his partner."

Disciple Fei's brow twitched slightly, but she maintained her composure. "When do you expect him to finish?"

"He has been occupied since his return a few days ago, so it should be soon... though I cannot provide a specific time."

"Then I will wait for him here."

"Very well. Would you care to wait inside?"

After a moment of hesitation, Disciple Fei nodded and stepped into the building.

"May I offer you some tea while you wait?" Mei Ying asked as Disciple Fei took a seat.

"No, that won't be necessary. Tell me instead, what sort of man is Disciple Xiao?"

"If you don't mind an answer colored by my own perspective..."

"I don't mind."

Mei Ying nodded and began to explain her personal feelings and views regarding Su Yang.

Disciple Fei sat quietly, listening to the entire explanation without a single interruption.

"I understand. Do you have any knowledge of where he learned his swordsmanship?"

"I have no information on that."

"I see..."

A short while later, Su Yang walked out from his room.

His eyes immediately found Disciple Fei.

"Oh? We have a rare visitor today. What brings you here, Disciple Fei?" Su Yang asked casually, acting as though she were a surprise.

In reality, he had detected her presence long before she reached the house. He had actually anticipated her arrival and warned Mei Ying beforehand; otherwise, she would have been turned away just like the many other visitors who had tried to see him.

"I believe you are well aware of why I've come," Disciple Fei answered, her eyes narrowing as she glared at him.
