Aditya and Rin meticulously gathered intelligence on the mansion's guards, identifying fifteen Sixth Order cultivators. Aditya devised a plan to create a diversion using a chain reaction of Exploding Talismans near the northern entrance while he infiltrated the mansion through his old bedroom balcony to rescue his parents.

Aditya glanced at the hourglass. The moment he noticed that the time had finally arrived, he gently removed Rin’s arms from around his waist and gave her one final look. Before Rin could even react, Aditya disappeared from the servant house and silently appeared on the balcony connected to his old bedroom on the second floor of the mansion.

His teleportation produced no noticeable sound, and the instant his feet touched the balcony floor, Aditya completely suppressed his presence. He carefully placed his hands against the balcony doors and applied a little force. The doors slowly opened, allowing him to slip inside without making any unnecessary noise.

Originally, Aditya had planned to leave the bedroom immediately. The moment he entered, he intended to walk straight toward the door and enter the corridor outside without wasting even a second.

According to everything he could sense, there was currently no one on the second floor. However, Aditya knew better than to completely trust his senses in a situation like this. After all, he himself had entered the mansion while completely suppressing his cultivation and preventing almost any trace of mana from leaking from his body.

If he could do it, there was no reason to assume that none of the cultivators guarding this mansion could do the same.

There were many different types of cultivators in this world, and some specialised almost entirely in stealth and assassination. Such cultivators could suppress the mana naturally radiating from their bodies to such an extreme degree that detecting them became incredibly difficult.

Some could completely hide their presence through special techniques, while others relied on artifacts or other methods designed specifically to conceal their mana signatures. To ordinary cultivators, someone using such methods could practically become invisible unless they were directly seen with their own eyes.

At the same time, the exact opposite also existed. Sensory-type cultivators specialised in detecting even the smallest disturbances in their surroundings. Every cultivator naturally released a tiny amount of mana from their body.

It was a normal phenomenon that occurred in almost every living being that possessed mana. Most people could never completely stop this natural leakage, but exceptionally skilled individuals could control and suppress it.

Against an equally exceptional sensory-type cultivator, however, even an extremely small mistake could expose someone’s presence. A tiny fluctuation in the surrounding mana, an unfamiliar mana signature, or even something as insignificant as a 0.1% leakage could potentially be enough for such a person to realise that someone else was nearby.

Because of this, Aditya could not afford to assume that the second floor was empty merely because he could not sense anyone. There was always the possibility that one of the guards was hiding somewhere nearby while suppressing their presence just as carefully as he was suppressing his own. Until he personally confirmed otherwise, Aditya intended to treat every corridor and every room inside this mansion as potentially dangerous.

Yet the moment he stepped through the balcony doors and entered his old bedroom, Aditya unexpectedly stopped.

For a brief second, all thoughts about hidden cultivators, assassination, and the dangerous mission ahead disappeared from his mind as his eyes slowly moved around the room. Since the day he had been exiled from the Celestial Dragon Empire, Aditya had never seriously imagined that he would one day return to this bedroom.

Back then, when he left this place, he had believed that this Chapter of his life had ended forever. Yet nearly five years later, he was standing inside the very same room again.

What surprised him even more was how little everything had changed. The bedroom looked almost exactly the same as the day he had left it. The furniture remained in the same places, and many of the belongings that had once filled his daily life were still there.

Even some of his favourite toys and the things he used to entertain himself with during his spare time were still lying around the room, almost as though their owner had simply stepped outside one morning and was expected to return later that day.

There was not even much dust. The entire bedroom was clean and remarkably well maintained, which meant that someone had been regularly taking care of it during the years he had been gone. Maids must have entered from time to time to clean the furniture, remove the dust, and make sure that his belongings remained exactly where they were.

For a few seconds, Aditya simply stood there and stared at the room that had once been such an ordinary part of his life. He had entered the mansion intending to move without wasting a single second, yet returning to his childhood bedroom after nearly five years was enough to make even him stop for a brief moment.

But Aditya was not someone who would allow nostalgia to cloud his mind, especially in the middle of such an important mission. He allowed himself only a few seconds to look around his old bedroom before shaking his head and forcing those memories to the back of his mind. There would be plenty of time to revisit the past once everything was over. Right now, every second mattered.

Aditya silently approached the bedroom door and slowly opened it just enough to create a narrow gap. Instead of immediately stepping outside, he remained completely still for several seconds and carefully observed the corridor through the opening. If there was someone on the corridor, then that cultivator would have reacted.

His eyes moved from one end of the hallway to the other while his senses searched for even the smallest trace of an unfamiliar presence. Only after confirming that he could neither see nor sense anyone did Aditya open the door further and quietly step into the corridor.

At the same time, Aditya reached into his storage ring and took out a sword and a dagger. He held the sword in one hand while keeping the dagger ready in the other, prepared to react the instant anyone appeared.

He could not afford a prolonged battle inside the mansion. If one of the guards suddenly appeared around a corner, Aditya needed to eliminate that person before they could shout, release their aura, create a large disturbance, or alert the other Sixth Order cultivators stationed throughout the residence.

As for whether he felt any hesitation about killing the cultivators protecting this mansion, the answer was no. Aditya understood that many of them might simply be following Ren’s orders, but that did not change the situation he was currently in.

They were standing between him and his parents, and if he spared them after being discovered, they would immediately become a threat to the entire rescue operation. Capturing them, restraining them, or constantly worrying about whether they might escape and raise the alarm would only create unnecessary problems. From Aditya’s perspective, letting them live offered him no advantage while creating several additional risks.

The corridor eventually led toward a small open living area on the second floor. It was not exactly a separate room but rather a common space connecting the corridor to the staircase leading up from the first floor.

There were eight rooms on the second floor in total. Among them, Aditya’s bedroom was by far the largest, occupying a significant portion of the entire floor. It was also located at the very end of the corridor, while the remaining seven rooms were mostly unused.

As Aditya silently made his way toward the living area, he suddenly heard someone snoring.

He immediately stopped walking. The sound was coming from one of the bedrooms he had just passed. Aditya carefully took a few steps backwards until he was standing directly in front of that bedroom’s door. He listened for a few seconds before reaching for the handle and opening the door as gently as possible.

What he discovered inside surprised him. Two Sixth Order cultivators were sleeping soundly inside the bedroom. One was lying on the couch near the entrance, while the other was sprawled across the bed with his face buried in the bedsheets.

Aditya’s eyes immediately moved toward the numerous empty wine bottles scattered across the floor. ’So that’s why.’ He instantly understood what had happened.

These two cultivators were supposed to be guarding the mansion, yet they had apparently decided to spend their time drinking instead. Judging from the number of empty bottles scattered around the room, they had consumed a considerable amount of alcohol before eventually passing out.

Aditya was not particularly surprised by their carelessness. After all, they were stationed inside the Imperial Royal Palace, which was one of the most heavily protected locations in the entire Celestial Dragon Empire. More importantly, this mansion was the personal residence of the former Emperor and Empress. Who would be foolish enough to infiltrate such a place?

With Ren and most of the important figures currently occupied by the civil war, there was probably no one around to constantly supervise these cultivators. Furthermore, being forced to remain inside the same mansion twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, must have eventually made their duties feel incredibly repetitive.

Over time, they had likely become increasingly careless, believing that nothing dangerous would ever happen to them. Unfortunately for them, Aditya had arrived.

After confirming that both cultivators were still sleeping, Aditya silently entered the bedroom and carefully closed the door behind him. He tightened his grip around the handle of his dagger before approaching the cultivator sleeping on the couch.

Since the couch was closest to the entrance, Aditya decided to eliminate him first. Without making a sound, Aditya positioned himself beside the sleeping cultivator. Then, in one swift movement, he grabbed the man’s mouth and firmly covered it with his hand.

The sudden contact immediately startled the cultivator awake. His eyes flew open, and he instinctively attempted to struggle. However, before he could even understand what was happening, Aditya’s dagger flashed across his neck and cleanly severed his head from the rest of his body.

The entire process happened so quickly that the cultivator never had an opportunity to release his mana or make the slightest sound.

Aditya immediately caught the severed head and placed it inside his storage ring before it could fall to the floor. More importantly, the entire assassination had been completed without creating any noticeable disturbance. None of the other guards had been alerted.

Aditya then turned his attention toward the second cultivator, who was still sleeping soundly on the bed. Unlike his companion, this man was lying on his stomach with his face buried in the bedsheets. He remained completely unaware that the cultivator sleeping only a short distance away had already been killed.

Aditya silently approached the bed and positioned himself beside the man’s head. He carefully pressed the cold blade of his dagger against the cultivator’s exposed neck.

Then, without the slightest hesitation, he struck. The dagger cleanly severed the man’s head before he could wake up or react. Aditya immediately collected the severed head, preventing it from falling and creating any unnecessary noise.

The headless body twitched involuntarily for several seconds before gradually becoming motionless.

Just like that, Aditya had eliminated two Sixth Order cultivators without either of them managing to put up even the slightest resistance. And as far as the remaining guards were concerned, nothing unusual had happened inside the mansion.
