"I have no ill intentions when I say this, but the entire Harrington Faction was already extremely close to the previous Emperor because of the Empress." Shin carefully chose his words as he continued.

Aditya’s mother was the Princess of the Harrington Family, which meant the connection between the Imperial Family and the Harrington Faction had existed long before the current civil war. Many noble houses within the faction were also connected to the Harrington Family through generations of marriages and blood ties, making their relationship much deeper than an ordinary political alliance.

"Once His Majesty becomes the Emperor, that relationship will naturally become even stronger. The Harrington Family and the noble households connected to them will most likely remain closer to His Majesty than the rest of us because of everything they have gone through together."

Shin did not believe that Aditya would openly favor them to the point of treating the other noble houses unfairly. However, politics was not always about official rewards or laws. Trust itself was an advantage.

When an Emperor needed someone to handle an important matter, command an army, protect something valuable, or carry out a sensitive task, he would naturally turn toward the people he trusted the most.

"It is already evident that His Majesty places a great deal of trust in the Harrington Faction. Otherwise, he would never offer to transform soldiers belonging to all of their noble households into Dragonians."

Shin’s expression became more serious as he looked at his father. "However, I don’t believe we should view this development as a threat. Instead, this could be an opportunity for the Fujiwara Family."

His father remained silent, allowing him to continue.

"If His Majesty is willing to strengthen the soldiers of the Harrington Faction, then there is a possibility that he may be willing to do the same for the noble houses outside of their faction that have proven their loyalty to him."

"We have already chosen to support His Majesty in this civil war. Instead of sitting here and worrying that the Harrington Faction will become stronger than us, we should show His Majesty that the Fujiwara Household is equally prepared to contribute."

Shin understood something very important. If they approached Aditya merely because they wanted the benefits of becoming Dragonians, their intentions would be painfully obvious. Therefore, the Fujiwara Household needed to offer something first. They needed to show their commitment through their actions and make it clear that they were prepared to place their military strength behind Aditya when the war began.

"Father, we should send some of our most talented and loyal soldiers to Axel City. We shouldn’t demand that His Majesty transform them into Dragonians. Instead, we should offer those soldiers for the upcoming war and allow His Majesty to decide how he wishes to use them."

Shin then straightened his back slightly before adding. "If you give me permission, I will personally take our troops to Axel City."

Hearing those words, the head of the Fujiwara Household finally smiled in satisfaction.

This was the kind of thinking he had wanted to see from his son. Shin had understood that the real issue was not merely the Harrington Faction gaining stronger soldiers. The political landscape surrounding Aditya was already beginning to form, and the noble houses that established themselves as his most dependable supporters before he became Emperor would naturally hold stronger positions once the civil war ended.

More importantly, Shin had not suggested begging Aditya for the same treatment or complaining that the Harrington Faction was receiving greater benefits. Instead, he wanted the Fujiwara Household to prove its own value and earn that level of trust.

That was how the future Duke and Head of the Fujiwara Household needed to think.

"Perfect. This is exactly what I wanted to hear." A satisfied smile appeared on ’s face as he looked at his son. However, the smile soon disappeared as his expression became serious once again. "But I need more from both of you."

Shinzo looked between his two children before continuing. "You two will be responsible for personally selecting the finest soldiers our household has to offer. However, I have already prepared a list containing several names that must be included among those you choose." As he spoke, Shinzo took out a small handbook and handed it to Shin.

Normally, Shinzo would have allowed his children to handle the entire selection process themselves. After all, one of the main reasons he had stepped away from most of the preparations for the civil war was to give them experience and see how well they could manage the Fujiwara Household without constantly relying on him. If they made a few mistakes along the way, he would normally allow them to learn from those mistakes and become better leaders because of them.

However, this matter was completely different. The opportunity to have their soldiers transformed into Dragonians was simply too valuable for Shinzo to treat it as another test for his children.

There could be no room for mistakes or poor judgment. This might very well be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the Fujiwara Household, and every person they selected could influence the strength of their family for centuries to come.

The names Shinzo had personally written inside the handbook belonged to soldiers whom he had been observing for many years. They were not merely talented cultivators. They had proven their loyalty, discipline, ability, and potential through their service to the Fujiwara Household. If those individuals were successfully transformed into Dragonians, Shinzo believed that several of them could eventually grow into powerful commanders and become future pillars of the Fujiwara Family.

However, Shinzo had no intention of limiting this opportunity only to soldiers directly serving the main Fujiwara Household.

"Summon our vassal lords as well. Tell each of them to bring the most talented soldiers from their territories. Once everyone has arrived, the two of you will personally evaluate them and select the best among them to accompany you to Axel City."

The Fujiwara Dukedom, like every other Dukedom within the Celestial Dragon Empire, had its own noble vassals serving beneath the ruling Duke. This was a normal part of the Empire’s political structure.

For this reason, Shinzo’s decision to include the Fujiwara Household’s noble vassals in the selection was also politically important. The opportunity to create Dragonians would not be kept exclusively for soldiers directly serving the main Fujiwara Family.

By allowing every vassal household to present its most talented soldiers as candidates, Shinzo was giving the entire Fujiwara Dukedom an opportunity to benefit rather than strengthening only his family’s personal forces.

Including these vassal houses in the selection was also an important political decision.

If Shinzo kept such a valuable opportunity entirely within the main Fujiwara Family, resentment would inevitably begin to grow among the nobles serving beneath him. Even if they did not openly complain, they would remember that when an extraordinary opportunity appeared, their Duke had chosen to keep every benefit for his direct household.

Instead, Shinzo intended to give every vassal family a chance.

Of course, that did not mean every family would receive an equal number of positions. This was not a reward that would be divided simply to keep everyone happy.

Only the most talented, trustworthy, and deserving soldiers would be selected regardless of which territory they came from. But by allowing every vassal lord to put forward their finest candidates, Shinzo was making it clear that those who served the Fujiwara Household faithfully would not be excluded from opportunities simply because they did not belong to the main family.

If even a handful of soldiers from those vassal houses returned as Dragonians, their loyalty toward the Fujiwara Household would only become stronger. At the same time, the military strength of the entire Fujiwara Dukedom would rise rather than strengthening only the Duke’s personal forces.

For Shinzo, that was the better outcome. A powerful Duke did not become powerful merely by strengthening himself. He also needed strong and loyal nobles beneath him.

"Understood, Father." Shin respectfully accepted the small handbook from Shinzo before placing it inside his Storage Ring. He understood how important the names written inside were, and there was no need for his father to remind him to take the selection seriously.

"I want both of you to personally lead the selected troops to Axel City." Shinzo looked at his son and daughter with a serious expression. Sending them personally was also important. If Shin and Mai arrived at Axel City at the head of the Fujiwara Household’s finest soldiers, it would clearly demonstrate their family’s willingness to contribute to Aditya’s cause rather than merely waiting for the Harrington Faction to carry most of the burden during the civil war.

Shinzo then added. "And if the opportunity presents itself, it would be best if both of you could become Dragonians as well."

Shin and Mai immediately understood what their father meant. Neither of them could simply approach Aditya and demand a drop of his Divine Blood.

Regardless of their status as the Duke’s children, Divine Blood was far too precious for such entitlement. However, by personally leading their soldiers to Axel City and actively participating in the coming war, there was always a possibility that Aditya might eventually offer them the opportunity himself.
