Max received four hundred Bronze Marks from Anna, bringing his total to one thousand and reaching the threshold for a Gold Mark. However, Anna explained the steep cost of converting Gold Marks back to Bronze, highlighting the system's incentive to climb rather than descend.

Max silently looked at his wrist. He had only just reached one thousand Bronze Marks, which meant he now had the option of condensing them into a Gold Mark. After hearing Anna's explanation, however, he understood that this wasn't a decision to make lightly. Converting now might raise his status and open certain doors, but if he needed Bronze Marks for Battle Space wagers, basic information, trials, or purchases in the city, paying with a Gold Mark would be painfully wasteful.

Anna looked at him seriously. "My advice is simple. Don't condense them into a Gold Mark yet. You're new, and you'll still need Bronze Marks for a lot of things in the outer layer. Once you understand what a Gold Mark can actually do for you, you can decide then."

Max nodded slowly. "I understand."

Anna's expression softened a little. "Good. At least you're not completely reckless."

Max looked at her and smiled. "Thanks for the marks."

Anna's face twitched. "You won them from me fair and square, so don't say it like I handed them over out of the kindness of my heart."

Daniel chuckled from the side. "Technically, she did promise them to you."

Anna turned toward him. "Don't take his side."

Daniel raised his hands slightly and stopped talking.

Max glanced down at his bronze mark again and thought about the one thousand Bronze Marks it now held. He understood why Anna had given him that advice.

Nothing in Bloodstone City came for free. Even basic needs such as finding somewhere to stay, renting a room, buying food, paying for information, and using cultivation facilities all required marks.

If Max condensed his one thousand Bronze Marks into a single Gold Mark now, his status might rise a little, but he would instantly lose the ability to spend Bronze Marks on everyday needs. In other words, he would own a Gold Mark while still being almost as poor as someone who had just arrived in the city.

One thousand Bronze Marks sounded like a large sum, but after seeing how Bloodstone City worked, Max realized it was only enough to let him take his first real steps in the outer layer. If he spent them carelessly, they would vanish very quickly.

"Now that we're done here, let's go," Daniel said calmly.

Max, Damian, and Revona nodded, and they left the Battle Space together with Daniel and Anna.

As the group walked away, the crowd around the Battle Space slowly began to break up. Even so, many people kept looking back at Max as they left. Some whispered to each other, while others sent messages through their marks. Some stared at him with curiosity, some with caution, and some with hidden calculation. The battle was over, but its impact had only just started spreading through Bloodstone City.

Anna noticed all of those stares and sighed.

"You really drew a lot of attention," she said as she walked beside Max. "I have a feeling all four races will come after you if you leave Bloodstone City now."

Max gave a light nod. "They probably will."

Anna stopped for half a second and looked at him in disbelief. "What kind of reaction is that?"

Max glanced at her. "What do you mean?"

Anna's irritation came back. "Aren't you worried at all? You showed off your physical strength in front of everyone. The Dragon Race, the Devil Race, the Angel Race, and the Spirit Race all saw what you did. Sooner or later, someone is going to study your ability and figure out a way to restrict it."

Max smiled faintly. "They didn't see my full strength."

Anna stared at him. "You opened the Seven Divine Veins, blocked a Dragon Race genius at full power with one finger, and destroyed his battle projection with a flick. And you're telling me that wasn't your full strength?"

"It wasn't even close," Max said calmly.

Anna froze.

His voice was far too steady. He wasn't being arrogant to make himself look impressive, and it wasn't the blind pride of a newcomer who didn't understand danger either.

He genuinely meant what he said, and that sent an unexplainable chill through Anna's heart. If the strength to crush a 1st level Divine Lord Realm genius of the Dragon Race with only his body wasn't his full strength, then what else was Max keeping hidden?

Was it his weapon, his bloodline, his laws, or his pseudo cosmic path? Or was it something even stranger than all of those?

For the first time, Anna felt that Max was far more mysterious than he seemed. His cultivation realm was low, his attitude was relaxed, and he looked almost harmless when he smiled.

Beneath that calm surface, however, there was clearly something frightening enough to make the elders and Primarchs send him into the Godslayer's Pilgrimage despite his realm.

Daniel glanced at Max with interest, but he didn't ask anything. Damian and Revona also stayed quiet.

Before long, the group arrived back at the Primordial mansion.

After they entered, Daniel stopped near the main hall and turned to the three newcomers. "I still have a few things to take care of. Anna will explain the rest."

Anna nodded. "Leave them to me."

Daniel gave Max one final thoughtful look before turning and heading deeper into the mansion, and his figure soon disappeared down one of the inner corridors.

Once Daniel was gone, Anna led Max, Damian, and Revona into a quieter side hall. It was calmer there than at the main entrance, and fewer people walked by. Several stone seats were arranged around a circular table, and a faint golden formation covered the room, blocking out most of the noise from outside.

Anna sat down first and motioned for the three of them to do the same.

"Since you're all new, I'll explain how Bronze Marks are used in Bloodstone City," she said seriously. "Don't think of them only as rewards from battles. In the outer layer, Bronze Marks are the most common currency, and you'll need them for nearly everything."

Max, Damian, and Revona listened closely.

Anna held up one finger. "The first thing is living costs. If you want to stay in the Primordial mansion, an ordinary room costs twenty Bronze Marks a day."
