[Final Competitive Stage, Battle Twenty-Six]
[Aurelian Lareth vs Vaela Sunspire]
Vaela Sunspire had already suffered one loss, yet she still unleashed the full measure of her sunfire the moment the battle began. Golden flames rolled across the stage and transformed half the arena into a burning solar field.
Against ordinary light cultivators, her sunfire might have posed a real problem, but Aurelian's Heavenly Luminance Divine Dominion was simply too domineering. This time he did not even need to manifest it in full.
A golden decree appeared above the stage, and the sunfire was pressed down from on high as though a greater authority had descended upon it. Vaela struggled to resist, but Aurelian's divine light pierced through her flames and stopped just before her chest.
She gritted her teeth and surrendered.

Max's gaze turned cold once more as Aurelian returned to his pillar. Every time Aurelian wielded that divine light, the rejection stirring within Max's bloodline grew clearer. The Divine Son's strength was undeniably real, but to Max it still felt like a beautiful palace erected on stolen foundations.
The next several battles passed even faster. Kaiden Voidmere defeated a beast-blooded warrior by folding the space beneath his feet so that his charge collapsed halfway through. Morgana Starveil overcame a thunder-winged spearwoman by cursing the lightning around her wings until every burst of speed dragged the woman deeper into Morgana's trap.
Rosaline Lunara faced a soul-path participant and calmly sealed his soul bells inside radiant petals, forcing his surrender before he could activate his strongest technique. Fin Arclight fought a bloodfire cultivator and scraped out a narrow victory after using Pale Eclipse Burial to dull the burning rhythm of the bloodfire, though the battle left him breathing harder than before.
The records kept shifting.

With every passing battle, the gap between the strongest participants and everyone else grew more obvious. The top geniuses kept on winning. Some claimed victory with casual ease, some prevailed only after drawing on a small portion of their deeper strength, and some concealed their trump cards so carefully that even their victories felt incomplete, as though everyone watching understood they had shown nothing but the surface.
Max fought again as well. His next opponent was a silver-haired beastkin genius named Kael Thornclaw, whose speed and claws had shredded several opponents earlier in the stage.
The moment the battle began, Kael underwent a partial transformation, silver fur sweeping down his arms while his claws gleamed like divine blades. He shot toward Max with enough speed to scatter afterimages across the stage.
Max did not call upon the Vein of Origin this time, because he did not need it. When Kael appeared behind him and slashed toward his neck, Max turned slightly, caught the incoming wrist, and hurled him across the stage. Kael twisted in midair, landed on his feet, and attacked again, but Max stepped forward and struck him once in the chest with his palm.
Boom!
Kael crashed into the barrier and slid down its surface, coughing blood. He tried to rise, and then he slowly lowered his head.
"I surrender."

The result surprised no one anymore, yet it still thickened the pressure gathering around Max. After his victory over Rakan, even his effortless wins felt terrifying, because everyone understood that he was not using even a fraction of what he had revealed in that body battle.
Another battle followed.
[Final Competitive Stage, Battle Thirty-Two]
[Ervin vs Darius Stoneveil]
Darius Stoneveil entered the stage with several defensive layers already raised, but against Ervin, defense alone counted for very little.
Ervin's black spear pierced through the barriers in a single unbroken line, not by shattering them with violence, but by sinking through them as though the distance between the spear and its target had simply been swallowed.
The spearpoint came to rest before Darius's chest. Darius stared at Ervin with a pale face and surrendered without attempting to drag out the battle.

Ervin returned to his pillar in silence. After his battle with Selene, no one regarded him as an unknown dark horse any longer, for his Abyssal Origin Descent had already placed him firmly among the most dangerous figures in the final stage.
Battle followed battle. Rakan also fought again after recovering from his loss to Max. His opponent was a sound-attribute participant who tried to attack his inner organs through vibration, but Rakan opened only the First Limit of the War God Body, crushed the sound waves beneath a roar of pure battle intent, and ended the fight with a single punch.
His victory restored a measure of morale to the War God Palace disciples, though the shadow of his defeat to Max still lingered over them.

The final competitive stage surged forward like a storm. Some participants began sinking under repeated losses, and others fought simply to keep their records even, but the top monsters continued their climb.
Max, Damian, Orion, Kaiden, Ervin, Revona, Aurelian, and a handful of others held their places near the front. Whenever one of their names appeared opposite a weaker opponent, the result felt almost predetermined, and the only real question was whether the weaker participant could force them to reveal anything useful before falling.
For a while, the strongest were never matched against one another, and that fact only wound the arena tighter. Every spin of the screen carried the same silent question. When would the next monster collide with another monster?
The answer arrived sooner than many had expected.
Angelina Valerius raised her hand once more, and the giant screen above the arena began to rotate.
Names flashed past one after another, including Max Morgan, Damian Voss, Aurelian Lareth, Kaiden Voidmere, Ervin, Rakan Thorne, Morgana Starveil, Selene Vaeloria, Rosaline Lunara, Revona, and Orion Starfall.
The light slowed, and the entire arena went quiet. Then two names expanded at the center of the screen.
[Final Competitive Stage, Battle Thirty-Nine]
[Orion Starfall vs Revona]
A wave of excitement rippled through the arena at once. Orion Starfall, the strongest genius of the Nine Star Court, had finally been matched against Revona, the woman whose Void Origin Eyes could nullify attacks and reduce even powerful techniques to nothingness.
Max's eyes sharpened immediately, for this was a battle worth watching.
Orion looked toward Revona's pillar and smiled faintly. "This will be troublesome."
Revona opened her eyes slowly, and the void-colored light within them flickered like some ancient emptiness given form.
"You think so?" she asked with a smile.
The arena fell completely silent.
Angelina Valerius looked toward the two of them and spoke calmly.
"Orion Starfall. Revona. Enter the stage."
