Demonic Po*nstar System Chapter 1093: Bagged the Maiden

By their next break, Luna had gained a level. Kaiden was still working toward his own, but the steady stream of rewards made him eager to continue.
Between fights, he worked with Yunohana on the timing of her threads, learning how much pressure she could put on a limb without pulling it out of his reach.
She learned quickly. Soon, a turn of her fan was enough to draw a spear aside while he stepped inside its reach, or to hold a shield where Calypso could hook it.
“A little higher next time?” the demoness asked after one stubborn soldier finally fell.
Yunohana considered its broken shield, then the angle of Calypso’s axe.
“Of course. I see what you were trying to do now.”
“Lovely. Darling hates it when I damage the pretty parts.”
Calypso indicated a fresh cut beneath her collarbone, earning a smile from Yunohana before Alexandra reached her with an exasperated sigh.
– Kaiden’s Wife [Mod]: They’re getting along so well! It’s lovely seeing Yunohana enjoy herself with them. 😭
– Princeless Princess [Mod]: Since when does he call the High Shrine Maiden Yuno?!
– Lady Leia [Mod]: Yuno, keep setting Kai up like that and I’ll worship at your shrine!! I have knees! I can kneel!!
Their next rest came on a roof terrace overlooking the plaza. They had cleared the hall behind it, and Nyx used [Telekinesis] to drag a fallen stone lintel across the door leading farther into the building before joining the others beneath the covered walkway.
Kaiden settled on a broad stone bench and checked his status while Alice detached beside him.

His little sister stretched both arms overhead, then went to sit with Alexandra, who was checking the last of Calypso’s injuries.
“That one stings,” Calypso complained.
“You kept reopening it.”
“There were things trying to stab Darling.”
“There were things trying to stab you too,” Luna pointed out, dropping onto the bench opposite Kaiden. “You let them.”
“Only when moving would have been worse.”
“Ladies,” Nyx sighed, watching them through her still-running feed. “Must we argue about who got stabbed most? It’s not a competition.”
Bastet rested beneath a patch of sunlight with her feet stretched out before her.
“I appreciated your effort in preventing the injuries.”
“Thank you, sun-kissed bestie.”
Yunohana set her folded fan beside Kaiden and took a flask from her bag. He watched her pour tea into its cup, enjoying the pleased little smile she wore while the others bickered.
She looked happy here.
The thought warmed him more than the rewards. They had spent the morning bruising themselves against stubborn monsters, and she was discussing axe grips with Calypso, hissing at Luna, bonding with Aria, finding her own place among the people he loved.
“Would you like some?”
“Please.”
When she stepped close to offer the cup, he slipped an arm around her waist and drew her against his side.
Yunohana’s smile turned tender. She rested her free hand on his shoulder and brought the cup to his lips, tipping it carefully while he drank.
“Too hot?”
“Perfect.”
His thumb brushed her waist. She stayed close after lowering the cup, looking down at him with such open affection that he wanted to pull her onto the bench beside him.
Across the terrace, Nyx had stopped listening to Luna. The space mage was looking straight at them, smiling so broadly that Kaiden called up the broadcast’s comments to see what she had found.

Nyx leaned comfortably against the railing, keeping the couple in sight while the comments began arriving too quickly to read without slowing them.

Yunohana glanced toward her, then summoned the broadcast’s chat into her own vision.
The cup stopped halfway back to the flask.
“Ah…”
– Lady Leia [Mod]: Lexi’s case is still open! Princess, stop buffering!! If you can’t lead us through this sacred moment, hand over the fucking head mod badge!!
– TouchGrass: Alexandra shippers, blink twice if you’re still with us.
– Kaiden’s Wife [Mod]: Sorry, I keep looking at his hand… Could someone else watch the reports for a moment?
Kaiden looked down at his hand, then up at the woman standing beside him.
Her cheeks had gone beautifully pink.
“You were very good out there,” he told her.
“Thank you,” she murmured. “I was enjoying myself.”
Yunohana’s hand moved from his shoulder to the back of his neck. Her fingers slipped into his hair, and Kaiden leaned into the touch with a smile that made Luna groan.
“You two are unbearably chummy.”
“You could look away, gremlin bestie.”
“And miss all these people losing their shit? Hell no.”

Aria moved behind Kaiden’s bench and bent to kiss his cheek. He lifted his free hand to hold hers while she smiled at Yunohana.
“It’s rather nice seeing you get to spoil him too.”
The shrine maiden looked down at the cup in her hand, smiling helplessly now.
“I had hoped to.”

Yunohana drew a breath to answer, but a fresh rush of comments caught her attention. She blinked at the messages filling her vision, her lips parting as she tried to follow them.

Luna grinned across at her. “Well? They’ve asked nicely.”
Calypso chuckled, then held still again when Alexandra tapped the shoulder she was healing.
More flags flooded past.

Kaiden grinned, pulling Yunohana a little closer while she stared at the celebrations. She was still holding the tea, with her other hand caught behind his neck, and had apparently forgotten how to move either one.
“Your people seem happy.”
“They are being rather… enthusiastic.”
“That’s one word for it,” Nyx agreed.
– Lady Leia [Mod]: Steve, come back!! You asked whether Japan would clap for his dick!! Look at them!! Apologize to the entire country, you miserable bastard!!

Yunohana made a strangled sound.
Kaiden scrolled back through the comments and found a heated disagreement about whether a shrine wedding should be streamed. Someone wanted a national holiday. Another viewer was offering flowers from their family’s shop, with increasingly desperate pleas for the moderators to pin the address.
“Oh, heavens…”
She lowered her face toward him, close enough that her hair brushed his cheek.
“I was only giving you tea.”
“It was very good tea.”
“Kaiden…”
He kissed her flushed cheek. Yunohana closed her eyes, and the fond, embarrassed laugh that escaped her made him want to do it again.
“I’m happy,” he told her softly. “Are you?”
She looked at him for a moment before the cup came to rest on the bench. With her hand free, she could finally touch his face.
“Yes.”
Aria squeezed his fingers. Around them, the laughter softened enough for him to hear Yunohana’s pleased little sigh as she leaned against him, content to let the world watch.
Then Luna read out a demand that the High Shrine Maiden be awarded a medal, and Yunohana hid her face against his hair.
