Previously on Defiance of the Fall...
Bhutosi's scholarly pursuits lead him and his impatient brother Jikasi to the Methele Ruins, where they discover a hidden underground palace. While Jikasi is eager to claim a powerful pill, he falls into a treacherous quicksand trap and is pulled through a realm gate. To Jikasi's surprise, he awakens in the body of Zac, who takes control and stows the pill away before also being pulled through the realm gate into a dark, unfamiliar realm.
