Following a seafood feast, Shiller and the others strolled along the beach. They learned that Atlanteans and a merger had addressed pollution concerns, and that Arthur and Namor's rivalry in creating a marine farm had resulted in unusually large and delicious seafood. As the sun set, they boarded a yacht for night fishing, with Shiller selecting a sturdy fishing rod and hinting at a surprising catch.

Sea fishing is a novel experience for most people. Generally, it is divided into two types: offshore fishing and deep-sea fishing. The former is not much different from fishing on land. Most of the anglers use small boats or even electric paddles, not venturing too far from the shore. They don’t usually have professional equipment for locating fish schools. It’s more about compensating for the lack of rod length, making it possible to catch some marine fish from the shore.

The latter, however, is relatively more complex, requiring larger boats and more professional equipment. Generally, it also involves heading out at night, known as ocean night fishing. This activity is popular among the rich, sunbathing on the yacht during the day and chasing fish schools at night.

Yachts are usually equipped with fish radar, and some professional enthusiasts may even hire local captains to locate fish schools. Deep-sea fishing, compared to fishing, is more like hunting because the struggle with the fish is very long. No deep-sea fish are easy to deal with.

Speaking of economic value, bluefin tuna is undoubtedly the highest. It’s also a rather fierce fish, swimming very fast in the sea. Thus, anglers often need to strap themselves into fishing chairs and even use the boat to drag them, to wear out the big fish’s physical strength smoothly.

If one wants a photo with legendary creatures, it must be the Blue Marlin. Large Blue Marlins can’t even be held in hand; you need to lie on the ground for the picture. Its appearance is the most traditional marlin image. The sharp long snout is not just for show. There have been many news reports of anglers being pierced through by it.

This explains why many people prefer deep-sea fishing. Compared to the safe atmosphere on land, battling these giant beasts in the ocean is clearly more thrilling and challenging. Fishing grounds around the world hold various fishing tournaments, with some people achieving instant fame.

On the East Coast, it’s mostly bass, herring, and salmon found in the offshore areas, making it hard to spot deep-sea fish like marlins. The Rebirth Alliance, of course, doesn’t dare to take these multiverse guests too far, so they’re still considered offshore fishing.

It seems to cater to different styles, the Rebirth Alliance prepared a lot of fishing rods for them, many of which are for deep-sea fishing, like the one Shiller took. Frankly, it basically falls outside the category of fishing rods, looking from afar like holding up a streetlight.

And similar to Shiller, Gothamites, like whichever universe’s Wonder Woman and Eagle Woman, chose the same style of fishing rods. From afar, they looked like they had entered the Amazon, each holding a long spear. Wonder Woman even got a shield from some Captain America, holding it in front while casting the rod.

People from Marvel sat in the fishing chairs, some even seriously tying themselves down with straps. Seeing them do it, Peter reached for the straps, but Shiller quickly stopped him.

"Wait a minute," said Shiller. "What are you doing? Tying yourself here?"

"Uh, can’t I?" Peter asked. "Actually, I haven’t been on a yacht much. I don’t know what to do, but I think tying myself makes some sense. Otherwise, what if I slip and fall? I’m not Spider Man now, and I’m not wearing the costume, so my feet can’t stick to the ground..."

"I think you’d better not fix yourself anywhere," Shiller said while baiting the hook. "It’ll be hard to run if you need to later."

Peter was puzzled: "Why would I need to run? Run where?"

Shiller wanted to explain, but he held some luck. After all, this is Zero Earth, not that intense. Besides, marine pollution should have been resolved, and their group didn’t have the luck-reducing Batman. So, it wasn’t necessarily that unlucky something would happen.

Shiller didn’t want to give Peter a bad impression of Gotham, so he didn’t mention it. Although Peter was puzzled, he didn’t press further and quickly forgot about it.

After casting for over ten minutes, nobody caught any fish. Since Shiller was on the edge, he heard Carter with a walkie-talkie going to the cabin’s back saying: "What’s the matter? Namor? Didn’t you say there were fish here? Are you in the sea now?"

"Wait a minute... I’m a bit... busy..."

"Doo-doo-doo——"

"What the heck!" Carter cursed, hearing intense wave sounds from Namor’s side, "This guy isn’t fighting with Sea King Arthur again, is he? Losing every time but still fighting!"

Carter let out a long sigh. She still wanted Namor to find some people to hook the fish. If they didn’t catch any fish, the trip would be a complete failure. They weren’t really on vacation, just here to entertain these guests, right? If no fish were caught, they’d have wasted half a day in the sea breeze, sure to get plenty of bad reviews.

As Carter pondered if she should contact Mera to have Atlanteans hook some fish, a sudden exclamation came from the ship: "Oh!!!"

Sif’s fishing rod bent sharply, clearly having a big one on the hook!

The nearby Marvel people exclaimed and cheered: "First fish, lady, first fish! You got off to a good start! You must pull this guy up!"

Thor stood by, satisfied, waving and saying, "I told you all! Sif is always the champion in Asgard’s hunting contest. Once, a Frost Giant Beast wandered into the space-time rift, and she yanked it out, that monster over ten meters tall didn’t dare to move in her hands, and we were only a bit over a hundred years old then..."

They were childhood friends, and when Thor talked about Sif’s past, he described it as if reciting from memory. He kept talking, not paying attention to Sif’s situation. Frankly, even if the largest Blue Marlin came, it would only be four or five meters, how could the Aesir not be able to pull it up? Thor was already thinking about which part he would boast about once the first fish took the bait.

Unexpectedly, Wonder Woman, Eagle Woman, Shiller, and other DC people rushed over quickly. Wonder Woman blocked the way with Captain America’s shield, and Eagle Woman even pulled out her weapon, pushing Thor aside.

Sif also wanted to know what they were doing, but she was more focused on the fish in her hands. Although the fishing rod she chose was a bit weak, the fishing line was strong, and her basic skills were solid. With one foot forward and one foot back, she steadied herself in a horse stance, used her waist for strength, and with a sudden forward flick, the big fish with a silver-white silhouette leaped out of the water under the lights.

"Wow, a wolf bass, it’s a bass!"

"This is really a big one!!!"

"That’s right, this looks to be about one and a half meters, definitely a big one among bass!"

Shiller saw it too but noticed that this was not the common striped wolf bass found near New York but a ferocious flower bass. This kind of bass is larger and stronger. Even though Sif didn’t use her full strength just now, the fish was only pulled out of the sea and didn’t fly directly, showing its strength.

Sif also realized that this was one of the more formidable fish on Earth. She glanced at Thor and didn’t rush to pull it with brute force but, like a human, started to exert and release, slowly wearing down the fish’s physical strength.

Who could have known that this fish was really tough, swimming back and forth five or six times without getting tired, still lively when running away. Sif thought it’d be enough to pull twice just to liven up the atmosphere, but if everyone ends up cheering themselves hoarse and can’t pull it up later, it’d be embarrassing. So she braced one foot against the nearby railing and began to reel in the line methodically.

The fish continued to struggle during this time, but possibly due to its mouth shape, this bass didn’t unhook easily, and since Sif used high-quality line, the fish never broke free despite its intense struggling, and Sif gradually reeled it back in.

Seeing this, Shiller knew something wasn’t right. He regretted not bringing his umbrella, so he turned to look at Diana holding the shield. Diana responded with a "Don’t worry, watch me" look.

Sif gave a hard pull to the left, and the silver silhouette leapt high out of the water. It was supposed to follow a normal parabolic trajectory and land on the ground to Sif’s back left, but in the air, it made a sharp twist, heading straight for Sif’s head.

Sif hadn’t expected the fish to have any counterattack ability, and she instinctively raised her arm to block it. Wonder Woman’s move was faster, though, and in a whoosh, the shield flew out, hitting the fish’s tail with a bang and knocking it back into the sea.

But this fish was obviously not easy to deal with; it made another sharp turn, first wagging its tail rapidly to swim underwater, then dashed out of the water again and headed straight for the deck.

Coming up on deck, they realized it was even bigger than estimated; this ghostly thing was at least two meters long. Its powerful tail slapped so hard it could practically jump off the ground.

The flower bass landed right where Peter was standing. Peter instinctively dodged to the side, almost bumping into Shiller, but luckily Shiller had anticipated this and moved to the side too, so they didn’t both fall on the deck.

"Ah, sorry, Professor, I didn’t see you." Peter seemed a bit startled, his eyes still fixed intently on the fish, obviously never having seen such a big bass before. This thing stood taller than a person, flapping at a rate of six times per second on the deck, with water everywhere, and anyone who could run fled screaming.

Those who had tied themselves to fishing chairs were in a miserable state. When this thing rushed up, it was like a big wave, soaking several people completely. Then, during its wild thrashing, it slapped at least twenty times, not sparing anyone.

Sif was stunned for a moment before instinctively reaching for her weapon. Unfortunately, she couldn’t find it. Just as she was about to jump up and fight, Thor pulled her aside.

"What’s up?" Sif looked back at him, "It’s just a fish..."

"I think we might be underestimating it a bit," Thor said. "Better not get too close; what if it’s poisonous?"

"No way, I’ve never heard of such a fish..."

"Does this thing even look like a fish to you???"

Following Thor’s gaze, Sif looked and, honestly, in terms of appearance, it could be classified under the fish category, having some similarities. But if you compare it to the sea bass they ate that morning, it’s basically like two completely different things.
