Amidst heightened security at the Holy Sect due to threats from the imperial army and the Six Great Sects, Liu Caidie returns to Bright Peak with her servant, Chen Jie. Upon her arrival, she is greeted by Uncle Guan and the persistent Du Xiong, much to her annoyance. She learns that her grandfather is currently in closed cultivation to devise defensive strategies, leaving her under the care of those on the mountain. Her return is further marked by the arrival of the formidable Mountain Descending Tiger, Du Zundao.

Turning her head, Liu Caidie caught sight of Du Zundao.

"Greetings, Uncle Du."

Liu Caidie offered a respectful bow. Du Zundao gave her a cursory glance and remarked, "Ah, so Caidie has returned."

"That is correct, Uncle Du, I just arrived," Liu Caidie replied.

Du Zundao spoke with a serious tone, "Good. The world outside is treacherous right now. With the Six Great Sects and the court locked in a power struggle against our Zoroastrian Sect, important figures like yourself should avoid wandering about. It is truly fortunate that you are back home."

"At least the elders are safe here," she noted.

"Indeed."

After providing an affirmative nod, Liu Caidie turned toward Mr. Guan and said, "Old Guan, accompany me."

Mr. Guan glanced toward Du Zundao before requesting, "Someone, see that a chamber is prepared for Caidie."

Upon hearing the order, Du Xiong stepped forward, "Uncle Guan, let me handle this. I shall escort Caidie to her quarters."

After deliberating for a moment, Mr. Guan nodded at Du Xiong and conceded, "Very well."

However, Du Zundao’s face darkened as he watched his son; his expression was visibly sour, clearly finding the boy’s behavior pathetic.

As the air grew thick with tension, a shrill cry suddenly pierced the atmosphere: "Ah! Caidie!"

Everyone instinctively turned toward the source of the voice, spotting a spirited young girl whose eyes were fixed on Caidie with unconcealed excitement.

Chen Jie recognized her immediately; it was Han Ling’er, the Saintess of the Zoroastrian Sect who had previously extended her aid to him.

"Caidie, you’ve returned!" Han Ling’er exclaimed.

"Ling’er, oh, it has been far too long!"

The two vibrant girls embraced with genuine warmth, their faces beaming with joy.

"Hahaha..."

They locked hands and began spinning in circles, a sight that appeared quite playful and youthful.

"Caidie, why ever did you not come to find me the moment you arrived?"

Liu Caidie explained, "I happened upon Uncle Guan immediately upon my return. He was just sorting out my accommodations."

"Whatever for? Simply stay in the quarters next to my own," Han Ling’er insisted firmly. Liu Caidie smiled and replied, "Very well, I shall lodge near you."

Han Ling’er shifted her gaze toward Mr. Guan and Du Zundao, "Do either of you uncles still require Caidie for anything?"

The two men shook their heads in unison, "No business at all."

"Then I am taking Caidie with me. Let’s go, Caidie."

As Han Ling’er pulled her away, Du Xiong quickly added, "I shall come along to see you, Caidie."

Han Ling’er shot him a look, "I can manage perfectly well. Do I require your presence? Return to your duties."

"I..."

Du Xiong wanted to retort, but Du Zundao cut him off with a bark, "Ah Xiong, return to your station."

Du Xiong looked up at his father, struggling to find a rebuttal. Unable to argue, he could only offer a sorrowful expression, lingering one last time on Liu Caidie before murmuring, "Caidie, I will come to visit you when opportunity permits."

Watching his son’s display, Du Zundao’s complexion turned as bleak as soot. The sight of his son acting so servile made him want to strike the fool down, yet he restrained himself.

Since the boy refused to heed him, he could only throw an icy glare at him before turning back to Mr. Guan. "Old Guan, let us attend to our matters."

Mr. Guan nodded, walking off with Du Zundao. Du Xiong cast one final, longing look at Liu Caidie before trailing behind his father, well aware that a stern reprimand was surely waiting for him.

Eventually, the men reached the Small Gathering Hall. Du Zundao gestured for everyone to clear out, sealing the doors and windows to ensure absolute privacy from any eavesdroppers.

Noticing the excessive precautions, Mr. Guan frowned, "Old Du, what could be so sensitive?"

Du Zundao took a seat and, picking up his tea, took a deliberate sip. "The Ruins have begun to churn. Access to the interior is finally possible!"
