Teng Yunxiao and An Mo secretly traveled to the Upper Domain, with Teng Yunxiao intending to visit a disciple. They found the entrance to the Primordial Tide Clan hidden behind a cave, which led to a vast, hidden sea. Teng Yunxiao revealed a pair of emerald wings and large horns, astonishing An Mo, who suspected a bloodline transformation.

Teng Yunxiao glanced at him. "You stay here for now. I’ll go and see whether they’re still around."

Before An Mo could respond, Teng Yunxiao spread his emerald wings and shot into the air.

In the blink of an eye, his figure disappeared into the distance. An Mo stood alone on the small piece of land, watching the direction in which Teng Yunxiao had vanished.

He wanted to remind the older man not to go too far, but the words never left his mouth.

After all, Uncle Teng must know what he was doing.

An Mo sighed and folded his wings.

Fine.

He would wait here.

Teng Yunxiao immediately began making his way through the familiar surroundings.

After all, he had visited this place before. Although a long time had passed since his last visit, the moment he returned, the memories buried deep in his mind began to surface one after another. The paths, the trees, and even the small streams seemed familiar to him.

He followed the route he remembered, easily locating the place where his old disciple used to live.

However, just as he was about to approach, he suddenly sensed another presence.

Teng Yunxiao immediately stopped.

Someone was nearby.

He had no idea who it was, but he wasn’t willing to take any risks. Without hesitation, he concealed his entire aura until he was almost indistinguishable from a blade of grass. Only then did he continue forward, moving carefully so that no one would notice him.

Yet, after taking a few steps, he suddenly stopped again.

For some reason, he felt an inexplicable pull coming from another direction.

Teng Yunxiao turned his head and followed that feeling. Before long, he arrived beside a shallow river connected to the endless sea. The water was clear, and several colorful fish swam beneath the surface.

A female was standing by the riverbank, feeding the fish from a small basket.

Teng Yunxiao could only see her back, but something about her figure felt strangely familiar.

He slowed down.

Who was she?

He stared at the female, trying to search through his memories. The more he looked at her, the stronger the feeling of familiarity became. It was as though he had known her for a very long time, yet the name remained just beyond his reach.

Teng Yunxiao frowned and tried harder to recall.

Then, suddenly, his mind clicked.

It was Liang Rou!

His eyes widened slightly.

"Ruer?"

The female standing by the river suddenly stiffened.

However, she didn’t turn around.

Teng Yunxiao’s brows furrowed.

Had she not heard him?

That was strange. They had been quite close in the past. He had watched this little girl follow him around countless times, and because she was destined to become Cang Ling’s mate, she had often been involved in their affairs.

Back then, everyone had called her Ruer.

Seeing that she remained motionless, Teng Yunxiao called out again.

"Ruer."

This time, the female reacted.

The small basket in her hand trembled, and her face turned deathly pale. She slowly turned her head, as though she was afraid of what she might see.

The moment her eyes landed on the tall, lean figure standing behind her, her entire body froze.

She stared at him in disbelief. For a moment, neither of them spoke. Then Liang Rou suddenly screamed.

"TEACHER!"

A smile immediately appeared on Teng Yunxiao’s face.

It seemed he hadn’t been mistaken. Liang Rou had recognized him!

This made things much easier. If she was here, then Cang Ling must be nearby as well. He could simply ask her where his old disciple was and finally find out what had happened to him.

However, before Teng Yunxiao could say another word, Liang Rou suddenly threw the small basket in her hand directly at him.

"Teacher! Why did you come here?!"

She stumbled backward, shaking her head frantically.

"You came to punish me, didn’t you? I’m sorry! Teacher, I’m really sorry! I know I was wrong!"

Teng Yunxiao stared at her in astonishment.

What was she talking about?

Punish her?

Why would he punish her?

Before he could ask anything, Liang Rou suddenly dropped to the ground and began thrashing around. She covered her ears, squeezed her eyes shut, and shook her head as though she was desperately trying to convince herself that the person standing before her wasn’t real.

"No! This isn’t real! I’m hallucinating! Teacher isn’t here! He can’t be here!"

Teng Yunxiao’s smile slowly disappeared. His eyebrows drew together as he watched her strange behavior.

What was wrong with her?

Had something happened to her while he was away? Or had this girl developed some kind of problem with her mind?

He couldn’t understand why she was reacting this way. It wasn’t as though he had come here to cause trouble. He had merely wanted to find Cang Ling and see how his old disciple was doing.

Yet Liang Rou was behaving as though she had seen a ghost.

Just as Teng Yunxiao was about to approach her, he suddenly sensed the same unfamiliar presence he had detected earlier.

Someone was coming! His expression changed, and he immediately concealed his aura once again.

A moment later, a man appeared beside the river.

It was Cang Hai.

He had apparently heard Liang Rou’s screams and hurried over to see what had happened. The moment he saw her rolling around on the ground, he couldn’t help but frown.

"Not again! Have you had another episode of your brain problem?"

Liang Rou didn’t even seem to hear him.

The moment she saw Cang Hai, she scrambled toward him and grabbed his arm with both hands.

"Call Cang Ling! Quickly! Call Cang Ling!"

Her voice trembled as she desperately shook his arm.

"Teacher is here! Teacher has come back!"

Cang Hai’s expression immediately darkened.

He pulled his arm away and looked at her as though she had just said something ridiculous.

"What teacher? There’s no teacher here!"

"But I saw him! I really saw him!" Liang Rou cried. "He was standing right there!"

She pointed toward the empty riverbank.

Cang Hai glanced in that direction, but there was nothing there. His expression became even more complicated. He had been worried that Liang Rou’s condition would worsen, and now she was even imagining people who weren’t there.

If something really happened to this woman, he would be the one who suffered. His older brother would never let him off easily!

"Stay here. I’m going to call Cang Ling."

After saying that, Cang Hai hurried away.

Meanwhile, Teng Yunxiao remained hidden nearby, his expression growing more serious with every passing moment.

Teacher?

Punishment?

What exactly had happened between them?

He searched through his memories, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t recall doing anything that would make Liang Rou so terrified of him.

Before long, hurried footsteps sounded from the path.

Cang Ling had arrived.

The moment Liang Rou saw him, she rushed forward and threw herself into his arms. The moment she felt his familiar embrace, all the fear she had been suppressing seemed to burst out at once.

"Cang Ling! Cang Ling, he’s here!"

She clutched his clothes tightly and began sobbing.

"Teacher came back! I saw him! He was standing right there, looking at me! He must have come to punish me! What should I do? What should I do?"
