Xuan Long smiled wistfully as he lost himself in his father’s presence. Beside him, Teng Yunxiao also looked fondly at the happy scene of the family inside the house.
"Why don’t we go out and look around the city?" Teng Yunxiao suggested softly.
Xuan Long immediately nodded. It was clear his father was eager to see what had changed in the world after so long.
Without disturbing the others who were still fascinated by Lan Yue’s baby, both father and son prepared to head out.
However, little Xiao San noticed them slipping away. Seeing his handsome father and grandfather going out to play, he immediately scrambled over to tag along with them.
No one else noticed them leaving, as everyone else was still completely engrossed in admiring their tiny, chubby baby relative.
As they walked down the quiet street, little Xiao San sat snugly in Teng Yunxiao’s arms, staring up at the elder with a calculating gaze.
Teng Yunxiao was stunned by the cub’s sharp stare. Finally, he couldn’t help but chuckle as he picked the cub up closer, asking, "Why are you looking at me like this, little guy?"
Xiao San put on an utterly shameless expression and said innocently, "Grandpa, you haven’t given us any meeting treasure or gift yet! Whenever we meet any elder for the first time, they always give us so many good things. Even Grandpa Kang gave us so many precious treasures!"
Teng Yunxiao was rendered completely speechless. He looked at his son, who was merely watching the interaction with an amused glance.
Xuan Long cleared his throat and said in a matter-of-fact tone, "Of course. All the children in our house are very spoiled, Father. As their grandfather, you have to give them some impressive treasures."
Teng Yunxiao shook his head in amusement before asking, "Who is this Elder Kang you mentioned?"
"He is the elder who took care of An Mo," Xuan Long replied smoothly. "He was also the one in charge of the God estate."
Teng Yunxiao’s eyes widened slightly in realization. "So it is actually Brother Kang Zu! I remember him. " A warm smile touched his lips as he found another familiar name from his buried memories.
Seeing his father’s delight in recognizing Elder Kang Zu, Xuan Long turned his gaze back to him and asked cautiously, "Father... have you forgotten all of your memories, or did you only lose them from a specific time onward?"
Teng Yunxiao grew quiet, falling deep into thought as he gently stroked Xiao San’s hair.
Xiao San leaned back into the handsome grandpa’s broad arms, feeling extremely comfortable. Most importantly, just by looking at this magnificent elder, Xiao San’s sharp instincts told him that this grandpa was loaded with wealth!
He made up his mind right then and there to act sweet and earn as much favor as possible so he could claim the biggest share of any incoming gifts.
After a moment of silence, Teng Yunxiao finally spoke, a faint smile on his face.
"The last clear memory I recall is actually of this very place," Teng Yunxiao murmured. "Back then, I came to the Lower Domain to search for something. I wandered here for a long time and encountered many things. But suddenly, I received news from the Upper Realm. It was my apprentices who had sent people to look for me..."
Xuan Long looked at his father in curiosity. "Who were your apprentices, Father? How many did you take in?"
Teng Yunxiao looked at his son and said with a touch of pride, "I took in many talented disciples under my wing and trained them personally. If you traveled around the Upper Realm, you would easily find them."
"But alas... why did you never encounter any of them while growing up? If you had met them, my apprentices would have definitely taken good care of you."
Xuan Long fell silent. He had been raised strictly by the elders of the Teng Clan in isolation, never having the chance to make acquaintances with his father’s old connections or disciples.
Suddenly, a name flashed through Xuan Long’s mind. He looked at Teng Yunxiao and asked, "Father, do you happen to know someone named Mo Qingli? He is from the Imoogi Clan."
Teng Yunxiao searched his mind for a moment before his eyes lit up. "Of course I know him! He was a fine young man I met during my travels. I even saved his life once back then. You could say I was something of a benefactor to him."
Xuan Long nodded. "He is my father-in-law."
"What?!" Teng Yunxiao was completely stunned, staring at his son in disbelief. "He is your father-in-law?!"
"Yes," Xuan Long confirmed calmly. "He is Su Qinglan’s mother’s other husband."
Teng Yunxiao let out a long breath, amazed by the coincidence. "That brat... his talent was actually quite exceptional back then. If not for the cursed bloodline of the Imoogi Clan that restricts them to the Lower Domain, he would have broken through to the Upper Realm long ago."
Xuan Long looked at his father and suggested, "Since you remember him, you should meet him while you are here."
"Of course, I definitely will," Teng Yunxiao agreed with a nod. He then continued recalling his past. "After receiving the message back then, I left the Lower Domain and returned to the Upper Realm. There, I met my two closest pupils... Cang Ling and Liang Rou."
Xuan Long listened intently. "Who are they?"
"They were the two pupils closest to my heart," Teng Yunxiao said softly. But as he tried to dig deeper into those memories, a sharp pain flared in his mind.
He frowned, shaking his head. "After that... no matter how hard I try to rack my brain, I cannot remember anything at all. It feels as though some terrible tragedy occurred back then, leading to me being sealed away in that dark place."
Xuan Long’s eyes darkened with cold sharpness. "That means we should search for both of them. Perhaps through them, we can find out what truly happened to your lost memories."
Teng Yunxiao nodded slowly. "Yes. I should personally go to the Upper Realm to investigate."
"Don’t bother going yet, Father," Xuan Long said firmly, stopping him.
"If you suddenly appear in the Upper Realm right now, it will cause a massive uproar and immediately alert your enemies. After all, we still don’t know who was behind your harm."
Teng Yunxiao went quiet, realizing the wisdom in his son’s words. He gently stroked Xiao San in his arms and chuckled lightheartedly.
"You are right, my son. Since I am already an old man with a family now, why don’t I just stay here and play with my adorable grandchildren instead?"
He happily patted Xiao San’s head.
Xiao San immediately closed his eyes in pure contentment, letting out a cute, milky gurgle. He was more than happy to entertain this wealthy, powerful grandfather...after all, he was the most lovable baby in the entire world!
